Andre Drummond: Intentional fouls are 'like a slap in the face'

Raj Mehta-USA TODAY Sports

As amazing as Andre Drummond's night was -- he finished with 31 points (12-15 shots), 19 rebounds, six steals and two blocks in 33 minutes -- it could have been even better.

The 76ers eventually resorted to Hack-a-Dre in an attempt to slow down Andre Drummond, and why not? Even if it offends him, nothing else was working. He finished the game just 7-18 (.389) from the free-throw line:

You know what's crazy? Shooting 38.6 percent actually improved his mark on the year -- he came into the night shooting 28.6 percent.

His performance Sunday prompted another round of Twitter conversation about whether he should attempt to shoot underhanded. Ethan Strauss suggested as much this summer in an open letter, to which Drummond eventually replied:

Maybe it's pride, but c'mon. I'm with noted NBA gambler Haralabos Voulgaris, who tweeted the following Sunday afternoon:

For more on the merits of the granny shot, check out this longform on Rick Barry. But in the meantime, the rest of the NBA should take solace in the fact that Drummond has at least one weakness -- albeit one that can't stop him from still putting up absolutely unworldly numbers.
