NBA free agents 2013: Jose Calderon moves his family to Detroit

Perhaps I'm reading too much into this but it seems to me Detroit and Calderon are ready to forge a long-term relationship.

While the untrained eye might have looked at the big Rudy Gay trade as a salary cap saving move for the Detroit Pistons. Detroit traded Tayshaun Prince's long-term deal and Austin Daye to Memphis and got Jose Calderon's big $10 million expiring contract in return.

Joe Dumars and other front office sources weren't shy about saying they were interested in bringing Calderon back after this season. But Calderon has been a quality point guard his entire career, the veteran has spent his entire career on losing teams and with good point guards in short supply could be a hot commodity on the free agent market.

But there might be a sign that he is as interested in Detroit as the team is interested in him:

So the next question is, how much would a Calderon deal cost? Ellis has info on that too:

A contract at $7 million is at the high end of what I'd be comfortable with but if it ended up being a 3-year, $21 million deal I think I would be satisfied. (H/T to Piston Powered).

What do you think?
