Will Bynum punched Tyler Hansbrough in the midsection in the fourth quarter of Saturday night's loss. He has been suspended for one game.
The NBA announced on Sunday evening that Pistons guard Will Bynum will be suspended for one game without pay for punching the Indiana Pacers' Tyler Hansbrough in the fourth quarter of Saturday night's 90-72 loss.
Here's the play in question:
Bynum was immediately hit with a flagrant two and the call stood after a brief review.
Hansbrough is no stranger to pissing off opposing players. He was getting into it with Jonas Jerebko on Friday night and Charlie Villanueva before Bynum finally struck him (Villanueva also got hit with a tech for a run in with David West). Hansbrough was apparently goading Viacheslav Kravtsov, too. For what it's worth, we're coming up on the six year anniversary of when Hansbrough was punched and bloodied by Gerald Henderson in a Duke-UNC game. I guess you could say Hansbrough is very punchable.
Bynum will serve the suspension on Monday night when the Pistons host the Atlanta Hawks.
