The Pistons almost blew it, but in the end they pulled through, losing to the Brooklyn Nets, 103-99. By snapping their four-game winning streak and failing to pick up a 30th win this season, the Pistons finish in a tie with the Washington Wizards for the No. 7 and No. 8 lottery combinations. Which team receives the extra combo will be determined at the Board of Govs meeting on Friday, according to Keith Langlois. (Ryan Field tweeted that the coin flip would take place on Thursday. We'll update as soon as we find out for sure.)
This season was excruciatingly long with many more downs than ups (many, many, many more in Brandon Knight's case). Some of the ups were amazing, though -- rookie Andre Drummond for instance, and a lot us DBBers welcomed our own rookies into the world, surely times we'll never forget -- and the Pistons' future could be very bright, but it all depends on how the offseason is handled.
Since February, I've been anxiously waiting for the offseason. The Pistons will probably get a new coach; there's an outside chance they'll need a new GM; there's the draft and then there's money to spend in free agency. By the time fall rolls around the corner, this team could look drastically different, with Drummond and Greg Monroe anchored at the forefront of the "new era".
