USA TODAY Sports

Rough translation from Swedish Television news site:

NBA player Jonas Jerebko, of the Detroit Pistons, helped Sweden to quality for the European Championship in 2013. Now it is also clear that he will play for Sweden in the European Championships in Slovenia in September.

"It will be fun to go and compete against the best teams in Europe," said Jerebko, to the Swedish Basketball Association.

Sweden will play for the European Cup for the first time since 2003 and will do it with two NBA players, as Jeff Taylor also gave a positive response a couple of weeks ago.

"I have played with all who are being considered for the team except Jeff Taylor (NBA player on Charlotte Bobcats), but him I have played against. Me and Jeff have been talking a bit with each other during the season to play EuroBasket, so now it will be fun to play with him too," said Jerebko.

Sweden launches EuroBasket on Sept. 4 against Greece. Then follow a game against Finland on September 5. Sweden has a day off on September 6 before then playing three days in a row, against Russia, Turkey, and Italy. The top three teams in the four groups move on to a new group play where you play for a spot in the quarterfinals..

"We got a tough draw, then it's very nice to be able to put up our best players," says national manager Jonte Karlsson.
