Recently a lot of Canadian fans have argued (very politely I must add) that Jonas Valanciunas is a better player than Andre Drummond right now and will be in the future. Let's take a look at some statistics and you can decide for yourself who the best young center in the NBA is. (I'm sorry if I offended any Nikola Vucevic Diehards, I know there is a lot of you.)
Per 36 Minutes:
13.5 Pts. 9 Reb. 1.9 Blks. .4 Stls. 2.3 TOs 4.6 PFs 55.7 FG% 78.9 FT%
13.8 Pts. 13.2 Reb. 2.8 Blks. 1.7 Stls. 1.7 TOs 4.2 PFs 60.8 FG% 37.1 FT%
Against Each Other Per 36:
Valanciunas: 18 Pts. 4.5 Reb. 67 FG% -6.8 +/-
Drummond: 22.5 Pts. 20.3 Reb. 56 FG% +6.8 +/-
Drummond and Valanciunas only played each other for 16 minutes but you get the idea of who was winning the matchup
Both players struggle to shoot from the outside. Valanciunas' shot chart shows more confidence in his jumpshot, but his results were not that great, Drummond shot almost only on the inside and converted at a high percentage. Andre Drummond has a 6.3% higher rebound rate, and a 5.4% lower turnover rate. Andre Drummond average .05 more Win Shares per 48 minutes. Russell Westbrook only averages .024 more Win Shares per 48 minutes than Drummond, that gives you an idea of how much .05 Win Shares is.
