If you're like me, you're wondering how a small forward who fails to differentiate himself from the league average at his position in just about every statistical category could possibly help the Pistons, especially when he's grossly overpaid, and the Pistons have young, cheap players who can do the same thing for a lot less.
Well, it appears as though we can relax.* Per Ryan Wolstat on Twitter:
As I speculated earlier, told Raptors immediately said good job, good effort to low-ball Gay offer from Det No plans to move him for nothing— Ryan Wolstat (@WolstatSun) July 3, 2013
*At least until the next round of Twitter rumors sends us into a speculative frenzy where we question whether or not Joe Dumars really has any clue what he's doing, and begin worrying that Greg Monroe or Andre Drummond could be the next trade chip on the table.
Update: ESPN's Marc Stein and the Freep's Vince Ellis confirm this deal looks dead:
DOA for now RT @ESPNSteinLine Nothing but resistance from Toronto so far on Pistons' pitch of expiring deals of Stuckey & Villanueva for Gay— Vincent Ellis (@Vincent_Ellis56) July 3, 2013
