Hello members of Detroit Bad Boys, I'm a Suns fan and I've come up with a trade scenario that I think is more than fair.
UPDATE (MUST READ): I've changed the trade from GORAN DRAGIC, SHANNON BROWN, LUIS SCOLA and KENDALL MARSHALL for RODNEY STUCKEY, BRANDON KNIGHT AND TONY MITCHELL to GORAN DRAGIC, SHANNON BROWN, LUIS SCOLA, KENDALL MARSHALL and MARCUS MORRIS for RODNEY STUCKEY, BRANDON KNIGHT, TONY MITCHELL and one FIRST ROUND PICK (2015)
I've received several comments about not wanting to give up Tony Mitchell, a second round pick, for a point guard who played like an all star the last two months.
- in the last 13 games, Dragic averaged 17.6 points, 3.9 rebounds, 9.9 assists and 1.7 steals in 37.2 minutes of play. His shooting line of .473/.385/.800
- in the last 26 games of the year, he averaged 16.1 points, 3.7 rebounds, 9.5 assists and 2.0 steals in 36.0 minutes. His shooting line was .447/.330/.758.
(Thank you for these stats, az_kevin)
This trade was more than fair for the Pistons, and I have been seeing comments on the Suns page about this trade being terrible for the Suns. So now, in return, I am asking for a first round pick (2015) and I am chipping in Marcus Morris. I think this evens up the trade.
Relax, the Pistons have made improvements and are likely to be a playoff team soon. This first round pick will not be top ten.
END OF UPDATE
Phoenix also gets Detroit's 2015 first round draft choice.
I am not an experienced trader by any means, but I think this could work. I used RealGM because for some reason ESPN Trade Machine would not work on my computer.
WHY THE PISTONS WOULD DO THIS TRADE:
Now that the Suns have acquired Eric Bledsoe from the Clippers, we have too many point guards and are looking to get rid of some. This is where Detroit comes in. Detroit is badly lacking a starting caliber point guard, and they finally get one in Goran Dragic. Also, they get a young Kendall Marshall to develop, who still has a fair amount of upside and set the single game assist record for a first start last season. They also get Shannon Brown who's contract expires next offseason. Finally, they get Luis Scola and Marcus Morris, who most Suns fans feel bad for and we've been looking to someone who could possibly make the playoffs, and that could very well be Detroit next season with the recent acquisition of superstar Josh Smith. Detroit would have solid frontcourt depth after this trade, and would get a nice point guard.
WHY THE SUNS WOULD DO THIS TRADE:
Oh good Lord, look at the Suns right now. They have a roster just good enough to miss a top five pick in this star-heavy draft, and they now have too many players in the backcourt with Goran Dragic, Eric Bledsoe, Kendall Marshall, Shannon Brown, PJ Tucker, Diante Garrett, Archie Goodwin, and Malcolm Lee. This trade solves that problem. They acquire Rodney Stuckey, Brandon Knight, and Tony Mitchell. Rodney Stuckey looks like a decent stopgap and could maybe tutor Eric Bledsoe and Archie Goodwin. The Suns acquire Brandon Knight, who I think is a fantastic player and could just use a change of scenery. Finally, the Suns get Tony Mitchell in the trade, who we could groom to be an awesome power forward. I know the Suns only loose one backcourt player in the process, but at least the roles are more clear. Also, Phoenix can tank now with this roster and could be successful. Overall, Phoenix gets younger, more athletic, and a first round pick.

Suns roster after the trade:
