2013 NBA free agency: Will Bynum, Pistons agree on 2-year deal

Raj Mehta-USA TODAY Sports

Will Bynum has agreed to a two-year deal worth $5.75 million, according to his agent Mark Bartelstein.

Earlier Monday, Sean posted a report that the Pistons had an offer extended to veteran guard Will Bynum.

Bynum has accepted.

Bynum's agent, Mark Bartelstein, texted news of the deal to a bunch of reporters late Monday night and The Detroit News' Vincent Goodwill was the first I saw to tweet the details:

That's less than the $3.25 million per year Bynum made on his last deal and, as Goodwill tweeted later, it leaves the Pistons with roughly $5 million in cap space and a roster spot to explore trade avenues (perhaps for another point guard).

For as divisive as Bynum's game can be, his rapport with Andre Drummond last year was undeniably exciting. At 30, Bynum had his best season in terms of point guardyness since he first joined the team and shooting the basketball. Maybe Maurice Cheeks - KNACK FOR HELPING POINT GUARDS! - can get another couple seasons like that out of Bynum and get him back to being the productive, popular guard he once was.
