I want to start out by saying that Moose is my absolute favorite player. He is young talented and already produces at a high level. However, Dumar apparently decided to win now with some questionable signing of Smith and ughhhh.......Jennings. So our ultimate goal is to win now. However, we have 0 floor spacers and too much crowding in powerforward and center. If we want to win now we need to trade our most tradeable piece to nab another allstar to team with Smith/Drummond/KCP. Someone that can space the floor, defend and score at a high level. I was a big supporter of trading Monroe for Rondo and picks (injury insurance), but with the addition of Jennings that idea failed.
What if we were to trade Monroe and stuckey for LMA and their center Meyers Leonard. We receive an Allstar who wants to play for a winning team (not the blazers). He stretches the floor well, defends and scores on the block and from 20 feet really well. Plus we get a young center with crazy athleticism and shooting touch. He does however need to improve his defense.
We have to sign Monroe to an extension soon and I'm just worried that with the crowding of Smith/Drummond/Jerbko/Monroe his value is gonna be much less than it is now. LMA is a better player RIGHT NOW and if we want to win right now as seen by the front office moves we should try and nab him.
Maybe its because I'm originally from texas, but I believe Aldridge is a deserving allstar. His defense is underrated and his offense kept the blazers in playoff contention.
so what do you guys think?
Thats a win now AND win later line up. What do yall think?
