As the Pistons currently are losing to a team on a 26 game losing streak... I have not been thinking of our new coach but of our next GM. And I realized the next GM could be the guy everyone is talking about being our next coach ..... Tom Izzo.
What are some of Dumars Faults, 1. lack of player development and letting draft picks go for nothing only to see them do well (Aaron Affalo, Khris Middleton, Amir Johnson and you know what I'm adding Brandon Knight with 17.5 points a game on 42%, and in a prognostication Greg Monroe). 2. Dumars has gone through 5 coaches since 2009, allowing players to allow control of the locker room and having no accountablity 3. Dumars spends FA money poorly.
Now Izzo 1. has built his teams on 4 year players, I feel he would vet his players. 2. Izzo's rah rah ass chewing style has been mentioned as a detriment to him being an NBA coach, but as a GM it could be a positive as a support for the next head coach, who could know that his GM wouldn't tolerate sloppy play and poor locker room attitude, where for a change the players would be accountable. 3. Once again as a novice GM used to evaluating college players that fit in a system in the long term he might not be as quick to burn through cash.
This is all speculation I don't anything bout Izzo except for some things I've read online. But I felt like putting the idea out there, as a GM position could be the accolade that might be more persuasive than the head coach job.
