Never one to overdose on pollyannaish sentimentality, I nonetheless have become uncomfortable with the pervasive air of negativity on this site. It's time to really take a closer, more expansive, "big picture" view of what this franchise has accomplished in recent years. Once we take off the shit-colored glasses, I think we'll find not only some "bright spots" or "hope for the future", but actually become tremendously proud of the 2009-2014 Detroit Pistons. And all we need to do is to recognize the following:
The Detroit Pistons are the only team in the Eastern Conference to go undefeated in the playoffs over the past five seasons. Sure, the Heat have their championships ... the Pacers showed progress three years in a row ... the Wizards are developing a young core and are on to the second round ... the Bulls have suffered critical injuries, yet still remained a threat.
But all of these teams (and every other club in the East) have lost playoff games over that time -- multiple games. But not the Pistons; our boys haven't tasted defeat a single time. Not once have they come out flat in a playoff game, or even allowed a bad bounce or two to result in an L.
This is an accomplishment not to be taken lightly. This is our shitty team. Look at them go.
