Asik to Pelicans.. whats this mean for Monroe

Omer Asik has been traded to the pelicans for a top 4 protected draft pick in next years draft. I guess you really can get a draft pick out of anybody if you have a shrewd enough GM, and Daryl Morey is certainly one shrewd operator. It was said that the Rockets had a deal in place for both Asik and Lin, but that's not the case in this trade, although I'm expecting Lin to be moved at some point during the day. A draft day that I believe will be full of trades.

More to the point, does this mean the Pelicans will no longer be seeking a sign and trade with Detroit now that they have their big man? When I saw this trade I was wondering what DBB thought, so I figured I'd post it here. Asik only has one year left on his deal, unless an extension was agreed to during the deal. Monroe is still a better center than Asik in my opinion, so I believe the Pelicans would still want to pursue their hometown kid, unless they absolutely knew they couldn't get him.
