I was thinking of what a trade for the future would be like, and I think I found one that many may agree that would benefit both teams.
Pistons get: Amar'e, Iman
Knicks get: Smith, Jennings
The salaries line up well and Iman/Amar'e both have only 2 years left in their deals.
We are all fine with giving up Smith, but would like to know how everyone would feel about giving up Jennings.
Would you guys believe that Iman can play PG?
He is a very versatile player and I think he can function at three different positions at times (PG, SG, SF). The real issue is figuring out if he can really be a PG.
Many would agree that Amar'e is not the player he once was, but I did see flashes of that once dominant player at time this past season. If he can be a solid player off the bench while also showing flashes of brilliance at times, isn't that all we really need from our 3rd big man?
I think the knicks are actively looking for a solution at PG, which could cause them to be interested in Jennings. The chance to get rid of the contract of Amar'e could be appealing for them too.
If the experiment doesn't work, then both players are gone in 2 years and a new solution can be made in the near future.
Thoughts on if the knicks would be interested and how this trade would affect the pistons?
