I dont know if it is just me but I am tired of all these players asking for the "max contract". I understand pushing and getting as much as you can because a career can be over quick but it seems too many guys are asking for the max that dont really deserve it. I think the max should be reserved for the best of the best players...Lebron, Durant, Howard (feel free to add more in the comments below) but there are plenty of guys who are expecting a max deal (and may even get it) that are ultimately handicapping their teams. Moose is one of those players. Even if he doesnt sign with Detroit, he is not a max player.
I read one article saying it is getting out of hand that teams should be suggesting that top players take less money...is it really? I think it is the better business model. If these guys are measured by the number of rings they win, why wouldnt you team up with other top players to give yourself the best chance to win as many as you can. I am not saying turn down $20million and take $9 million....but turn down $20 and take $15mil.
Like I said...is it just me? Anyone else feel these guys are forgetting the team aspect of the game they get paid ridiculous amounts of money to play?
