Detroit Pistons 2015 Backup Center Free Agent Targets

Assuming the Pistons don't draft Willie Cauley Stein, Frank Kaminsky, Myles Turner or another big man with the 8th pick, we need two backup centers. The third center could be our 38th pick, or a veteran for the minimum (like Joel Anthony), but we still need a quality backup center to play between 12 and 20 minutes per game. Here are a few possiblities:

ROBIN LOPEZ: Unrestricted / 7-0 / Portland. Averaged roughly 10-6, but will likely want 6MM or more and will want to more minutes. He is probably too good to be a backup, so if we were to get him, we would make him play more, and him and Drumond togheter would be like Monroe-Drummond again.

BRANDAN WRIGHT: Unrestricted / 6-10 / Phoenix. Averaged 7-4 in limited minutes, great shot blocker, really high FG%, has had a really high PER the last few seasons, playing under 20 MIN. It would be a great option if we want a quality backup center. He would cost us around 5MM.

MARRESSE SPEIGHTS: Team Option / 6-10 / Golden State. Averaged 10-4 in 16 minutes, can knock down mid-range jumpers and is a high energy guy off the bench. The Warriors will likely keep him, 3.7 MM and a team option is an easy decision for them.

KOSTA KOUFOS: Unrestricted / 7-0 / Memphis. Averaged over 5-5 in under 17 minutes, he gets work done as a backup. He would be a good option for around 3-4MM.

CHRIS KAMAN: Team Option / 7-0 / Portland. Averaged almost 9-7, he has been a great backup center the last few seasons, is a veteran, but will likely want to stay in Portland.

KEVIN SERAPHIN: Unrestricted / 6-10 / Washington. Averaged almost 7-4 this season and is still developing, maybe he stays with the Wizards, but if not, he would be an option for 3-5MM.

ALEXIS AJINÇA: Unrestricted / 7-1 / New Orleans. Averaged roughly 7-5 in 14 minutes last season, including 55%FG AND 82%FT. He got 0.98MM last season, so we could get him for around 2-4MM. 20.01 PER last season.

Prediction: we sign Alexis Ajinça for two years, 2.5 MM per year.
