Ersan Ilyasova's Eurobasket Adventure 2015

Jeff Hanisch-USA TODAY Sports

Well, with a starter for the Pistons actually participating in Eurobasket this year, local media at MLIVE and the Detroit Free Press have deemed it worthy to cover Ersan Ilyasova and his 2015 Eurobasket Team, Turkey. Here are the game 1 and 2 recaps. Cue the music!

Game 1: Turkish PF Ersan Ilyasova was dominant early facing team Italy, hitting his first four shots for nine points. Foul trouble kept Ilyasova in check allowing Semih Erden (remember him?) to take over, scoring 22 points and grabbing 8 boards. Ilyasova finished 5/7 (3/5 from three) and 5/5 from the stripe for 71 percent from the field and 17 points to go along with two boards, a dime and a steal. Turkey blew a 16-point lead, but still won 89-87. Now let's not look past the fact that this is a Italy team featuring a full complement of NBA talent including Danillo Gallinari (33 points), Marco Bellinilli, Andrea Bargnani, and Allesandro Gentile (oh, and injured former Piston Gigi Datome).

Game 2: This game against Spain would not be so kind to Turkey in a 104-77 loss. Ersan would only shoot 42 percent going 3/7 and 1/4 from deep. It was his charity work going 8/9 that would allow him to finish with 15 points. Spanish and Bulls teammates Paul Gasol and N. Mirotic had good games. Gasol contributed 21 points on 7/11 shooting to go along with seven boards, two blocks and a steal. Mirotic chipped in nine points on 3/5 shooting with three boards and two steals.

Turkey will look to get back on track against Dirk Nowitski and Dennis Schroder on Sept 8. Go Turkey!
