[...] Hardly. He's not playing in the NBA this year, but he's making twice as much money1and will probably see at least five times as much playing time. And in all honesty, living in Greece isn't all that bad, especially for a kid who grew up in California. For all the glitz and glamor of the NBA, I don't think he's going to miss the Michigan winter.2 Which he'll definitely appreciate. [back]Or making those crazy Michigan Lefts — for Alex's sake, I hope Greece doesn't have any traffic circles.
[...] Remember Alex Acker talking about how confusing it was to drive in Michigan? My first day in Michigan, it was strange, it was really strange. Not basketball, just driving and making all the U-turns. I guess you gotta pass the light and come back and turn. I miss just knowing my way around. And everything out here looks like a forest. That really freaked the hell out of me. [...]

[...] As a young NBA player living in a strange city with strange driving habits, Acker has a lot of spare time on his hands. How does he pass his time? Apparently by hanging out with Amir Johnson and Jason Maxiell at the mall: Mostly, we go to the mall. That's about it. Anytime we go out, we go out together, though. We never go out one at a time. It's always two or three. We go to Somerset, or the other mall that's way out there — Great Lakes Crossing. That's it. We go to that one, too. [...]
