Is Baron Davis that scary?

Baron Davis Heading into Friday’s game against Golden State, everyone seems to be worried about Baron Davis — the Free Press, News and MLive all lead off with stories on him today.

Personally, I don’t get. Yes, he’s a good passer (second in the league by averaging 9.3 assists per game), and it’s true the Warriors are 26-10 since acquiring him last season. But he’s also a big-time chucker with a very low field goal percentage. He brings a career-low .344 FG% into Friday’s game, and his 16.4 ppg is his lowest since 2001. He’s hitting just .275 from three-point land, which wouldn’t be that big of a deal were he not hoisting up 7.3 attempts per game.

The way I see it, the Pistons have a strong point guard in Chauncey Billups that matches up perfectly with Davis, and a couple of big guys that will deter him from driving too much. Is there something here that I’m missing? I’m more concerned about Saginaw native and former Spartan Jason Richardson. We’ll see.
