[...] Now it would have been nice to see the bench get a few more minutes after the Pistons opened up a 13 point lead in the second quarter, especially with a road game against a geared-up Pacers team tonight. Even with Detroit Bad Boys muse Carlos Delfino in the game, I think the Pistons would have continued their dominance of the Sixers. But alas the Pacers, sans Jermaine O'Neal, shouldn't be much of a match for the Pistons either. So expect Delfino, Maurice Evans, and Carlos Arroyo to get plenty of court time tonight (for that matter, let's hope the game is far enough out of reach that we see some Darko,1 Dale Davis, and Jason Maxiell, as well).
[...] 2) A Detroit Bad Boys favorite, Carlos Delfino, returned to action tonight after missing the last couple games with the flu. In only four minutes of action, Delfino grabbed three boards, dropped one dime, and played great defense on Kobe. While Delfino and Maurice Evans are very close in terms of offense, I continue to be impressed with Delfino's quickness on defense. Whereas Evans was caught in the air a few times by Bryant, Delfino played Kobe tight on his jumpers while staying in front of him on drives. The Pistons are a more versatile team when they have the ability to call on both Evans and Delfino for a spark off the bench. [...]

[...] As has been discussed repeatedly by Matt and I, Carlos Delfino has arrived. He's averaging 11 points and over 18 minutes in the last three Piston wins, and he's playing lockdown defense on some of the Association's toughest wings. The end result of Delfino's emergence will be fewer minutes for Tayshaun Prince, but unlike with other teams in the Association, this doesn't seem to be a problem. Tay Tay to A. Sherrod Blakely of MLive: "I'm happy to see that go on," Prince said. "His confidence is growing with the more minutes he gets out there on the floor. Six, seven minutes a game is not enough for Delfino. When he gets in the 13-, 14-, 15-minute area, he can be able to get some confidence and not just two or three shots a game." [...]

[...] Regular readers know that we've talked up Delfino before, but I want to reiterate something: this guy can flat-out play. He has nice range and great leaping ability, and now that he's getting into games earlier, he's really proving himself now that he's playing with some of the starters. Chauncey Billups looked for Delfino as the first option at least a couple of times coming down the court, and it paid off. Flip Saunders acknowledged Delfino's effect on the game in his post-game comments: "We came out kind of flat," Detroit coach Flip Saunders said. "We brought in Carlos, and he got us back in the game, took over the game, and everybody else finished." [...]
