[...] Our friend Todd at Believing in Magic has to be beside himself with optimism this year. The Magic closed last season strong, and have a young and powerful team. Me, I'm hoping for a few season-ending (but not career-altering) injuries and enough losses to send them to the lottery. Why, you ask, would I wish that upon team as likeable as the Magic? Because the Pistons are still awaiting the Magic's #1 pick this year or next, remember? [...]

[...] I've bemoaned Flip's rotation tinkering as of late, but this adjustment could not have come at a better time for the recently-beatable Pistons. In ten games since the All-Star break as the Pistons' primary backup point (before Sunday's DNP), Lindsey Hunter had contributed about 2 points and 1 assist in close to 10 minutes per night. During that period, he shot 8-26 from the field. Whether or not you were a fan of Carlos Arroyo, the dropoff in production from the position since his departure to the Magic is undeniable.
[...] With Carlos Arroyo being shipped to Orlando in this week's deal, the Pistons find themselves with Lindsey Hunter as the lone experienced point guard on the bench. Perhaps because he knew how terrified I am at the thought of Lindsey trying to run the offense, Joe Dumars gave indications immediately following the deal that the backup point position was not settled and that another move was imminent. But, alas, he now seems to be backing off of that statement. [...]
