[...] So please, I encourage you to check it out. It's still early and there's plenty of work to do, but it's something I'm proud to be apart of and something I think any NBA fan of you will enjoy. Plus the Magic (Darko!), Jazz (Memo!), Grizzlies and Raptors. Kind of an odd collection, huh? [back]200-400 words may sound like a lot until you realize that I've been known to routinely rattle off 1,000 words on even the most inane topics — I've written more than 2,300 words on the subject of "headbands" this week and once last year penned an 800-word essay debating the merits of Fred Hoiberg.
[...] In case you missed it, the Pistons decided against offering Fred Hoiberg a contract. Maybe he was never seriously considered, or maybe someone in the front office read my 800-word missive on the subject…. Yeah, I'm guessing he was never seriously considered, either. // Used for showing and hiding user information in the comment form function ShowUtils() { document.getElementById("authorinfo").style.display = ""; document.getElementById("showinfo").style.display = "none"; document.getElementById("hideinfo").style.display = ""; } function HideUtils() { document.getElementById("authorinfo").style.display = "none"; document.getElementById("showinfo").style.display = ""; document.getElementById("hideinfo").style.display = "none"; } [...]

@Tom - LMAO.

@Ian - Well, as I wrote elsewhere, it's nice to see that Flip is hitting Joe up to help out his former players during our stretch run to the playoffs. Seems like everyone has their priorities straight. NOT. This team has 7 guards already. I'd rather we keep Cato and have Mike Abdenour wheel him onto the court to take cheapshots at Snaq in the playoffs. Because Hoiberg ain't gunna slow down Flash (or JWill).

@Matt - I owe you an email.

They let Marbury play without a heart, or is that a brain? They should let Fred Hoiberg play with a pacemaker. I can see other teams starting up their microwaves if he get's hot though.

I got nothing against Hoiberg personally, and in hindsight I didn't intend to portray him as one-dimensional as three-point specialists like Damon Jones, but I can't help but look at him and think: <a href="http://www.nba.com/playerfile/jud_buechler/" rel="nofollow">Jud Buechler</a>. Hoiberg has been a little bit more productive and has spent more time as a starter, but his ceiling just doesn't seem to be very high.

@Ian: it didn't dawn on me to think of it like that earlier, but you could be right.

I gotta think that this is just a favor for a former player between Flip and "The Mayor." The Pistons have no need for Hoiberg, but if they are seen as interested, it could peak someone else's interest. "What's good for the goose" and all.

Needless to say, the best minds at PF.com have debated this, and "The Mayor" is clearly wasting our precious time.
