No, I didn’t just order a Chicken McNugget Extra Value Meal from McDonalds, I was simply reflecting on Detroit’s past success in Game 6’s the past four years. Consider this while pondering who’s going to win tonight’s game:
- Detroit is 11-2 in elimination games dating back to the 2003 playoffs…
- … including going 8-0 in Game 6’s…
- … with six of those games being played on the road…
- … and five coming after initially trailing in a series 3-2.
Maybe now you can understand why Lindsey Hunter is so excited…
“Man, this is going to be fun,” Hunter said. “I love game sixes.”
“We’re gonna go take that Game 6,” Hunter said. “We’re not going to steal it, we’re gonna go take that Game 6.”
So, what do you call a “guran-sheed” when it comes from Hunter and not Rasheed Wallace? Any ideas?
Riding wave of momentum [Detroit News]

unfortunately history does not play tonight… your current squad does. Simply put, this year’s version on the Pistons are overrated. If not for Tay’s big three in the fourth of Game 5 (which was clearly where momentum turned), you’d be sick… like D-Wade.
From lindsay Hunter it has to be…lindstipulate…or how about…linsured (as to Ensure something is the same as guarantee and lindsey is old, thus the ensure….I like it…..LINSURED IT IS…haha…
Last time I checked the 3 only put the Pistons up by 6 and not the 13 that they eventually won by. Hate all you want, there’s a reason this team won 64 games and had 4 all-stars.
When Lindsey guarantees victory, the Hunter is on.
Buddy’s right though. If the Pistons hadn’t come up big at the end of the game, they wouldn’t have won.
He also asked me to let everyone know that if the sun hadn’t have come up this morning, it would be very dark right now and also if Pat Riley wasn’t such a snake, Van Gundy would still be coaching.
Buddy’s making up excuses already!
Is Buddy the name of a dog, or a person that needs friends?
I do need friends..
But seriously and objectively, you have to admit that the Pistons are not invincible. That’s all I’m saying. They don’t inject the same fear they used to… and Miami seems to match up better this year. The Heat have a deeper beach and they don’t have an answer for D-Wade AND/OR Shaq. Hate on Riles all you want but he was smart enough to get all of the formidable peices they need to win the East… face the fact, the Bad Boys can’t guard them all and won’t WIN TONIGHT.
Shaq has never played well under pressure. He’s always choked when his teams hit adversity. I like our chances.
How about we let them play the game?
i’ll be honest. riles is brilliant. but not for bringing together “all of the formidable peices[sic] they need to win the east”. that was quite possible one of the worst overreactings by a gm i’ve ever seen. he had a team that lost in game 7 of the eastern conference finals and blew it up anyway. (this is why dumars is a much better gm. lose game 7 of the finals? bring back the entire crew and give it another shot.) riles is brilliant because he could keep that hodgepodge from sucking, and actually got them to the eastern conference finals. he’s done an amazing job of coaching. that team would have fallen apart due to egos and lack of natural chemistry under any other coach (i mean, payton and wade indeed went at it. and just imagine all the snide comments there would be about ‘toine’s threes and white chocolate from shaq after bad games. i mean, flips a pretty good coach, and even the pistons have had their share of infighting.)
unfortunately for the heat, the “fact” that detroit can’t guard them all” is not a fact at all. the pistons seem to have finally turned it on in game 5. the 3-2 zone flip used throughout the game seemed to “contain” wade fairly well. at least he didn’t shoot the ungodly numbers he did the first 4 games. and if ben shows the same fire he showed wednesday, and if he is indeed actually in shaq’s head now (which i think is a possibility), shaq might be brought back to earth again. then it comes down to the other three, and i’ll take the pistons starters over any others in the league. given how the first 4 games went, i’d be pretty quick to count the pistons out. but given the way the pistons played in game 5, and given their history of getting up off the mat, i’ve got the distinct feeling there will be at least 3 more games at the palace this year.
we’ll see…
Microwave,
How can you say that a 3-times NBA Finals MVP… in your words “never play(ed) well under pressure?” That’s like saying Barry Sanders never ran hard after the first hit… ludacis (purposely sic)! You guys are getting too excited over here. Shaq will be back - it’ll be only a few years until he’s no longer effective but I think he’ll be alright at least through next year.
“He’s always choked when his teams hit(s) adversity” That actually made me smile - that’s not easy.
Just announced, WE ARE WEARING RED TONIGHT.
You’re done. Ben’s too intelligent, Tay’s gunna represent, south beach is weak and we intend to become presidents.
Buddy, witness the choke job by Shaq. It’s on.
I feel like I’m watching the World International Convention on Shot-Missing. So many, many, many missed shots, and in so many ways.
Told you so…
Sun shines on a dog’s ass once in a while…quote from Sheed earlier in the Playoffs, however, it is also appropriate for Buddy. Haha…buddy is a dog’s name.
