Was Miami a bit too excited to win the Conference Championship? I kind of wondered the same thing on Friday but wasn’t sure if it was just me tasting the sour grapes.

For what its worth, the fellas at the Basketball Jones arrive at a totally different conclusion on this week’s podcast. They think that the Mavs were way too excited about defeating Phoenix while Miami was appropriately business-like (especially Shaq) about knocking out the Pistons.
Well considering Shaq has been to the Finals and Dirk and the Mavs haven’t, I wasn’t surprised to see the Mavs excited.
The Heat were happy to beat the Pistons, don’t let their business-like approach fool you. Antoine did his shimmy, Payton ran his mouth, and Wade gave props to the crowd when he came off the court…they’re excited, but Riley is keeping them cool.
Wait till next season, Detroit may not have 64 wins but they’ll be back.
I will hand it to Pat Riley and Heat owner Mickey Arison for congratulating the Pistons when addressing the crowd — Arison even told the crowd not to boo when he said it, and they more or less responded to him. Considering Miami and Dallas are making their first-ever trips to the Finals, I suppose we should let them savor it. And Shaq, for what it’s worth, refused to touch the trophy.
Now do you really blame any team for being excited that they are the champion of there respective conference? I definitley wouldn’t especially if it’s for the first time.
That’s just the media looking for fodder while they are bored without basketball for 5 days. Don’t fall into that trap yourself.
