The Detroit News mentions today that the Pistons have officially picked up Amir Johnson’s option for 2006-07 and have made a qualifying offer to restricted free agent Alex Acker, giving them the right to match any other offer he may receive. Those two moves were expected, but this is a bit of a surprise: Joe Dumars wants Lindsey Hunter to return instead of retiring, and Hunter is leaning toward coming back.

It wouldn’t surprise me if Lindsay came back. If both he and Ben come back, we’ll still have two open rosters spots and I think that the mid and low level exemptions will fill those up should JoeD choose to use them.
I guess the other option would be breaking up the mid-level for two players and using the low-level on someone else.
My votes would be for Bobby Jackson (injury problems scare me but man can he attack the basket and he’s a decent defender) and Michael Olowakandi (yes, I know, but he could be a fairly cheap gamble).
Another reason why we traded Mo Evans!
