Say what you will about Ron Artest (and we have), but he’s not living in an ivory tower. The New York Daily News caught up with him playing in a Rucker Park “Summer League” game. Ron Ron, only hours removed from wrapping up his stint in the NBA-sanctioned Vegas Summer League, was running for Fat Joe’s Terror Squad.
I’ll give the guy this, he loves the game.
- According to the Free Press, the Pistons are set to officially announce the signings of Nazr Muhammad and Flip Murray at an 11:30 press conference today. You feel that? Tingles…
- ESPN’s Sports Guy compares Lebron’s performance at the ESPYs to his playoff series against the Pistons Read on:
I happened to be sitting a couple of rows behind LeBron, which was funny because every time a female celebrity walked on stage (Janet Jackson, Mariah Carey, Ashley Judd, etc.), he looked more intense than he did during Game 4 of the Pistons series. If they ever do an ESPN Full Circle for the ESPYS, there needs to be a channel devoted just to LeBron’s reactions to everyone who walks out.
- And, lest you need yet another reason to dislike the Sports Guy — in spite of (or in addition to) his uncanny ability to work Britney Spears into any article regardless of topic — catch him bragging about his on-screen moments during several classic Celtics games, including:
You can also see me taunting Rodman right as everyone’s leaving the court during Game 5 of the Pistons-Celts series in ‘87 (the one when Bird made the big steal).
- What, you want more Maceo Baston news? Well, bear with me anyways (as a Michigan alum, I can’t help myself). According to Haaretz.com, Maceo has received a one year offer leave his Israeli team Maccabi to play in the NBA, but he is holding out for two years and more than the $500k offered. Thanks to True Hoop for the link, as well as the excellent article detailing the increased competition for NBA-level talent from overseas leagues. Check it out.
- Just a quick note: we said we’d update you on Ronald Dupree’s contract when details became available, and they have: it’s a two-year minimum contract, with the second year a player option.

What did we have to give up for Dupree? We just traded him, so he was still under contract with the wolves? How does that work?
Tom: we traded Dupree to the Timberwolves at the start of last season for a future second-round pick. He was in the final year of his contract, though, so we signed him this year as an unrestricted free agent. The only thing he cost the Pistons is the minimum contract they gave him.
I’d trade Flip Murray instead of Carlos Delfino in a sign-and-trade package with the Hawks. Unless Joe Dumars is just speaking highly of Delfino to attract more teams, I think the Pistons really want to keep him. Delfino has excellent defense, is quick and attack the rim. Flip Murray seems bland to me. On the other hand, who wants Flip and really an unproven Delfino?
I don’t know…but Delfino must stay put.
I know this does not work, salary wise. Could you imagine if Artest becomes a Piston? We would have him here, playing against the bulls and that guy they whored out, I forget his name but he could not shoot free throws. I’m thinking there would have been some money to be made on that bet, especially right after the palace incident. Artest as a Piston, and I don’t care what you think of the guy…he fits defensively. Wallace as a Bull. We could trade Rip, delfino, acker for Artest. this gives Tay the chance to break out, like I think he will do this year anyway. Ok, it’s bullshit…but….it would be nice…
fo sho. Delfino is great and can make shots. Murray is a chucker. Delfino takes his time and has the ability to dish, which isnt that common in a sg. Thats what I like is if hes having a tough time with the J he’ll probably attack the basket or get someone else some points. If we trade him I’ll be pissed. We need him on our team if we are going to go anywhere this year.
Delfino has done nothing except whine and complain. He can not hit a shot to save his life. look up the FG%. his defense is passable. he can drive, but he can’t finish.
joe d is attempting to drive up his value. Delfino will never play another minute in Detroit Pistons blue.
to suggest that we aren’t going anywhere without Delfino is laughable.
davidson hates players who complain to the media. delfino does it every year. he’s done. delfinished.
Look what happens when Delfino gets time and the ball.

I think if he gets about 15 minutes per game, he’ll start actually developing. He needs some plays run for him. I hope Delfino doesnt get traded. And I said he arent going to go anywhere b/c he need someone of the bench to score besides McDyess. I cant see Murray being able to be that consistent. Also his fg% was so bad b/c he needs more than like 3/4 shots per game. Also he wasn’t really complaining. He just said he wants to be able to play more. Other players say they want out. He said he just wants to play.
