The “Jason Maxiell Eats Babies” t-shirt

Update: What’s with all this baby eatin’ madness? It’s the brainchild of MOLA1 from WTFDetroit, making it’s DBB debut in haiku form this past November.

Following in the footsteps of giants (Need4Sheed, the YAYsports! Store of Purchasable Items, the Wizznutzz’ Mothering Hut, mgoblog’s mgostore …), DBB is throwing our proverbial hat (tee?) into the ring:

Jason Maxiell Eats Babies T-Shirt

Our first shirt is just $15.

So, you know, order yours today!

Where did this whole baby eater’ thing come from any way?

If I recall correctly, it first entered the DBB lexicon with this haiku, but I’m almost positive it was circulating among some fans before then.

    Nice :)

Shyte — how could I have forgotten The Hype’s Store of Clothery?!? Especially after this landmark moment?

This is the best idea EVER.

The origin is Mola1 from WTFDetroit. They have a page of Maxiell hyperbole on their site, and that was one of the earliest postings (to my memory).

In like fifty years, quite possibly no one will remember any of us basketball bloggers.

But I pray that some homeless person, somewhere, will be shuffling along with a shopping cart full of empties, sporting a ratty-ass Jason Maxiell eats babies shirt.

What I’m saying is, this could be the most important work any of us has ever done.

Also, I can’t urge you strongly enough to get onesies with this on it. I want my baby to wear this.

Great point, Henry — we just added them.

Allies are more important than enemies. The internet is an amazingly small place so if you are going to “borrow ideas”, that are time and date stamped, the least you could do know is offer an olive branch to the creator of the Shirts theme and his website.

Maybe a few plugs to Wtfdetroit.com would be a good start.

JayC: This is 100% a “borrowed idea,” without or without the quotes. I made it clear in a previous comment that it was a reader who brought the idea to DBB — we liked it so much we gave him a set of DVDs and used the phrase ever since.

But if more credit still needs to be given, I’ll take your word (and Micro’s) and tip my hat to WTFDetroit. So everyone, go visit that site, they’re months funnier than we are. I just checked it out for the first time and found some more great Maxiell facts.

Well, it’s true that I came up with the term long ago. I made it up over a year and a half ago once we secured Max in the draft. I was pointed to this page to see this and I was halfway annoyed and halfway flattered. I’m not mad because I’m not making money on the idea. I’m sure the regulars here think that might be why I’m annoyed, but that’s not it at all. I could care less about that and anyone from WTFDetroit.com could tell you that.

Max is a beast. NoQuarter, my cousin from WTF wanted to make me a sig and I said I wanted it to read, “Bring the Death” along with an avatar that features a screen filled with blood and red eyes to illuminate the pain that he inflicts on his opponents because Max plays with a ferocious attitude.

These facts soon followed and so did the saying. I’m not mad about anything at all. Just recognize that I came up with the idea and we’ll call it a day. You cats have a nice site here and I wish you success and a whole host of readers. We were planning on making T-Shirts based on every Mad Max Fact that I come up with so I’ll say it here and in writing so that we don’t have anyone feeling annoyed that their idea was used and it’s all good.

Here’s to a great year of Pistons Basketball and Let’s go get a championship.
