Hubie Brown as Skeletor

Hubie Brown as Skeletor

Forgot to include this in the recap (I do that a lot), but special thanks to DBB reader Tim for the screen grab of yesterday’s announcing crew. I knew we were on to something last May!

DBB reader BigBoyIndo with a brilliant comment:

“You might ask why I get called Skeletor, well the answer is really simple. First, you take a look at my face, I look like Skeletor. Okay, right? I legitimately scare the crap out of kids. And secondly, you have to consider what Joe Crawford saw and that was the fact that I really, really do look like Skeletor.”

aww man. dissing on good ‘ole hubie… that’s just wrong, dudes… but funny…

mike tirico and his incessant, irrelevant prattle during key possessions late in a game, though, drives me freaking nuts…

BoyBoyIndo… I’ve re-read that 3 times and I can’t stop hearing Hubie’s voice each time I read it. //// I also agree about Tirico not taking time for air…I like the guy, but damn can he talk. and talk. and talk. However, I’d still take him over Mike Breen any day of the week. The same Mike Breen who feels it is necessary to inject inflated enthusiasm into the most mundane of activities.
“…And Ohhh my Haslem gets up off the bench and ties his shoe!! Now he’s walking to the scorer’s table!! I think he might be checking into the game! oh my!”

Hubie Brown is one of the top talents we have in this league, okay? Now: Tirico is a major negative, no question. But what you have to remember is that his role isn’t a go-to guy, he’s a distributor. So that’s okay, you can live with it.

I can here Hubie saying LanierFan’s post too…awesome.

After the game Hubie went a couple rounds with Man-o-War, I have no idea how it turned out!

I do love HB, he is a joy to listen to. Tirico, is much better on Pistons broadcasts than other teams. A bit of a homer, not too shabby.

Hubie Brown should be the voice of the NBA forever. Even if they have to store his disembodied head in a jar, like on “Futurama.”

I love Hubie Brown because he actually adds value to the broadcast by explaining what you are seeing- giving coaching context, etc. He and Doug Collins are the best in the biz at that.

still a big fan of bill walton’s outrageous hyperbole and verbose excitement! Though he used to annoy me.. I’ve come to appreciate and be entertained by him.

The most intelligent basketball conversation ever had was when Hubie Brown ate dinner by himself
