Chris McCosky: Rasheed to sit tonight

Chris McCosky had some interesting tidbits in his blog today:

The Pistons aren’t going to take any chances with Rasheed Wallace’s left foot. He’s going to sit out tonight’s game against the Heat. If it were a playoff game, he would play, but it doesn’t make any sense to stress it now — especially in the first of a back-to-back set and with such a busy schedule the rest of this month.

As for who will replace Wallace tonight, Flip Saunders wasn’t sure after shoot-around. First he said he was leaning toward starting Jason Maxiell, but had Antonio McDyess working with the first team during shoot-around. Afterward, he said he hadn’t made up his mind.

Here’s to hoping that Maxiell gets the start — not that he deserves it more so than McDyess, but because McDyess is a rhythm player who’s used to coming off the bench.

Flip Murray spent a couple of days away from the team during the four-day break, and McCosky told us why today: his girlfriend jus gave birth to a baby girl. Congrats! But for his sake, I hope he doesn’t bring the baby around the locker room.

McCosky also mentioned that Chris Webber’s eye is much better, which is a relief considering how much it was bothering him earlier this week.

Did anyone happen to catch 30 Rock last night? Tracy Morgan’s character was talking about a rap producer named “Ridiculous” (played by LL Cool J) and how scary he was, and he’s listing off random crazy stuff that Ridiculous did that makes him scary and he says, “[Ridiculous] made Rasheed Wallace cry.” Classic stuff.
