Ironically, the mask he wears to protect his face dug into his temple at contact and opened a gash that eventually required three stitches to close.

This may be the first correct usage of the word "ironic" that I've ever seen someone use when writing about sports. It is not ironic when someone loses against their old college coach. It IS ironic when the use safety equipment results in injury.

Bravo!

Is it just me or has Rip developed a poor attitude? He doesn't seem as upbeat, often sulks up the court and is turning a little bit whiney in my opinion. Free throw shooting was horrible yesterday, embarrassing even.

I still prefer Skelator Brown to Mark Jackson, but he did a pretty good job. Breen is not too hard to listen to either.

It is nice to not have to big of a drop off with on-the-ball defense. (comparing Flip to Hunter) I see Hunter as more of an "in-your-face" type where Flip seems to sneak up on his assignment at opportune moments for those steals.

Now if only Cleveland and Miami would lose a game!! Dirty Macs!

Tim: And when he did get the whistle, sometimes he still got screwed -- like when he got hacked on a tip-in attempt and they didn't give him shots, just the ball out of bounds.

QD: I think I know which play you're talking about -- Rasheed got the ball near the post and almost ran to the three-point line in a panic. I was cursing after that miss. Loudly, I might add.

Wolf: If that's the case, Rasheed isn't the only one.

I like they different style of play with Flip at the point, it is a nice change of pace for when Chauncey is healthy and Flip comes off the bench,it does however make Rip less effective. I think we definatly out played the mavs and will not have trouble with them in a seven game series. The reffs never give us our fare share of calls. Bottom line if Rip would have made his free throws we win the game. Our defense is looking awsome. We need to be concerned with Clevland and the Heat. I dont see anyone in the west beating us except San Antonio. I think they are the best team in the west records aside. We seem to have to most trouble with a team with a dominant low post scorer and a fast dribble penetration type guard. Like Wade and Shaq, Duncan and Parker. I still like our chances and I am really impressed with our much improved bench play. Go Pistons!

With 2 man down we played pretty good D and had our moments on O too. Murray had half a dozen steals while the Mavs gave away more than 17 balls. Nice game, Detroit...We'll see the Mavs in the finals anyway.

Murray would have had a few more assists (where he got into the lane and dropped it off to an open big) that were taken away by fouls.

There was a moment where Saunders appeared pissed at a quick Rasheed three ball late in the fourth.

“Honestly, I choose to keep that to myself. We didn’t get a couple of stops, they hit a couple of shots. Give them credit.”....

Maybe Sheed was referring to the officiating in this case. The pistons didn't seem to get the same whistle as the mavs. I'm specifically referring to Sheed who was hacked, bumped or drew contact on many of his shots, but failed to get the whistle.
