Get your BlogFest game tickets soon!

I just wanted to give you guys a quick update on the First Annual Need4Sheed/Detroit Bad Boys Blogfest (which is just a fancy way of saying: “Natalie, Ian and I are joining some friends for a game and hope to meet you there”). As you can tell from the handy graphic Natalie made on the right, the game is on April 1 against the Miami Heat. It’s a Sunday afternoon game with a tip-off at 1 pm, so there should be plenty of time for anyone interested to meet up before and/or after.

As for tickets to the game, Ticketmaster says the game is sold out … but there are plenty of tickets available through all of the ticket brokers that advertise on this site. And honestly, after buying my tickets through StubHub last week (I’ve sold tickets before, this was my first time buying), I’m going to check those brokers before I ever go through Ticketmaster again. Including the cost of delivery (2nd Day FedEx), I paid $169 for eight tickets all together, which means I paid $21 apiece for tickets that have a $25 face value — it was actually cheaper to use StubHub than Ticketmaster, especially since I avoided the usual garbage Ticketmaster fees.

Granted, I was looking for cheap seats (I ended up in sec. 224, which is in the second level behind the basket) and your mileage may vary if you want a better view, but my goal was just to get into the building since there’s really not a bad view in the house. (The header up top was taken from the very last row before Game 5 of the 2004 Finals.)

If you haven’t ordered tickets yet but still think you want to come, take a look at one of these brokers and do that now: StubHub, TicketLiquidator, TicketsNow and Vivid Seats. Do this soon — the game is only nine days away.

Not that I think a Pistons fan needs a bribe to come out and heckle Shaquille O’Neal and the Heat, but like we said, there will be prizes handed out, including a few t-shirts and DVDs. Leave a quick note in the comments if you plan on being there, and be sure to fill out your right email address (no one will see it but me) as I’ll be sending out an update the Friday before the game.

I’ll be there at the game. Coincidentally I got tickets to this game forgetting that BlogFest was going to be there.

Where is everyone meeting before the game? I’d like to at least stop by and say hi. I’m in section 207 (opposite of 224, same side) so I might be a ways away.

Anyways, look forward to the game and hopefully seeing some or any of you folks.

(Might i suggest some way of identifying ourselves as readers? Buttons or stickers or pink hair dye?)

I’d come to the game and even buy a ticket if someone would chip in for the plane ticket seeing as how i live in Israel.
Anyways I’m a big pistons fan and a big fan of sheed and i love to watch them play defense and play together unlike some teams…
So anyone got around a 1000$ for a plane ticket? anyone?
Didn’t think so. Have fun at the game and keep up the good work on this site

Brad: Still TBD how/when we’re going to meet up. I was thinking maybe before and/or after the game at the Post Bar across the street or something — I believe there’s a free shuttle, and everyone could save their $10 parking. Or, halftime at the Red Bull Bar or something is a possibility, but halftime always flies by, too. I’ll put my head together with Natalie to nail down some plans this week, though.

Ohad: It’s awesome to hear about fans reading from so far away — maybe next year we’ll see you, what do you say?

I hope you got a ticket for the red-headed momma in taylor. I hear she is a real fan of the Pistons, and an even bigger fan of your writing! Has she ever seen Shaq in person? I know she remembers a game many years ago when her kid said it was so cool to be on the floor and get a splash of sweat from some player….

I will be there, along with a crew of people who make a business out of reading Pistons blogs while they should be working.

Matt: If you feel like buying the ticket than i’d say
    Hell yeah.
I might be able to move to the US for a few years to do my post-doc but unless some trip or convention happens to come by i dunno….
If i’m around you can count on me coming to a game though

I’m going to be in town for a wedding the night before, and a friend just offered me a seat, so I will be there.
