Comparing attendance: Red Wings and Pistons

How comes the Pistons still sell out games and the Red Wings don’t? Christy from Behind the Jersey takes a look at that question. Personally, I think ticket prices have a lot to do with it, but I’m also not convinced the Pistons’ sell-out streak is 100% legit — there were a lot of empty seats in the regular season, with tickets on the after-market available below face value.

ticket prices and the lock-out have KILLED hockey. we may be hockeytown but a lock out still gonna effect attendance alot, plus you dont come back from a lock out and jack up ticket prices tryin to make up for the money you lost during the lock out. you drop prices and hope the fans you havent lost come and the low prices bring in would be or used to be fans. as for the pistons sell out its a sell out record not an attendance record between the season ticket holders, the scalpers that just couldn’t sell em all and the people that just couldnt make that game anymore your goin to have empty seats that were sold. sadly sports owners dont care if you come to a game just that you buy the seat. the only reason they want you to come to the game as well as buy the ticket is so they can sell you stuff once you get in the door.
