Tayshaun Prince is the Witness Protection Program

Tayshaun is the Witness Protection Program

That’s a sign that DBB reader Monday made for last year’s playoff series (during which this commercial was seemingly on a constant loop), and after LeBron’s performance in Game 1, I think it’s especially appropriate. Fortunately for LeBron, he won’t always have to be going up against Tayshaun Prince — at least for the summer, the two will actually be teammates. From the Detroit Free Press:

Pistons forward Tayshaun Prince will be added to USA Basketball’s summer roster, according to the Associated Press.

Managing director Jerry Colangelo is set to announce several additions today in Las Vegas, where the Americans will train and compete this summer in the FIBA Americas tournament.

Greg Oden and Kevin Durant also will be in camp in July with a chance to make the roster for the Olympic qualifier that runs Aug. 22-Sept. 2.

The new additions join 17 players eligible to participate from last year’s original pool, including Pistons guard Chauncey Billups and Shane Battier (Birmingham Detroit Country Day).

That’s excellent news, and great timing since we were just talking last week about how Prince doesn’t usually get as much credit he probably deserves. Good for him, Team USA will be better for it.

For the love of God, turn that sign into a shirt. I have money.

    Yes…PLEASE.

I’d rather no Piston risk injury to play in a meaningless tournament. As much as the world has improved, recent failures by USA basketball have more to do with inadequate preparation and motivation than lack of talent. Everybody knows that if the USA wanted to, they can win FIBA and the Olympics every time.

LMAO…the other day some radio host on WDFN 1130 AM The Fan or WXYT 1270 AM said he made up a slogan for the “Jordan Rules” on LeBron. He called it the “Witness Relocation Plan”. He got that idea from that poster! He stole it!

Ha. I didn’t steal it at all. It was just something I came up with aftering seeing all the “I am a Witness” commercials ad nauseaum.

If anyone is really interested into making it a shirt, send me an email and I can get your a hi-res PDF. It would be sweet to see some signs and shirts at the game tomorrow.

Monday, I was saying the guy on the radio stole it from you. Sorry if you misunderstood me.

    Matt,

I’m not sold on Prince’s selection. I know Tayshaun is a All-Defensive 2nd team selection but the international game is much more physical. Will his slight build be a disadvantage to him? It’s also imperative that we have outside shooters. Prince does most of his damange off of post-up and iso opportunities.

I’d much rather have Tyson Chandler (?) than Prince.

    Lol.

You’re probably wondering how I mistaked this blog to be current. I viewed your profile at ballhype and this was the last article you submitted.

    How ironic is that?

    Cheers Matt.
