Let’s face it, if the Pistons lose tonight, the series is might as well be over. There’s not much else than can be said. I still think they can close this series out in six, but they’ll have to show a lot more than what we’ve seen the last couple of weeks.
I’m live-blogging the game over at the FanHouse, so feel free to leave your thoughts over there or right here in these comments.

Early offense and a certain spring in their step on defense. Very nice, I like.
It seems overly quiet… anyone else pick that up?
I can not fathom why they kicked McDyess out. That is pure bullshit!
FLAGRANT 2!!!! I hate the refs… I honestly do.
And now the idea of having Amir activated sounds damn good right now.
EXACTLY!!! There wasn’t any bad intentions in that. He got caught a second too slow and hooked his head.
Anyone else find it funny that no one helped Sideshow Bob up but just jumped right over him?
It was a nice body-check though

I think it was worth it
Yeah if he McDyess can get kicked for that then Gooden should of got in more trouble for Sheed. Yes he got fouled hard, but he’s the flopper, what else do you expect. I first I thought he got a harder foul than it was, then I seen the replay and it looked like some of that was him throwing himself to the ground.
Who is the guy who always sits next to the Detroit bench. Sort of looks like a younger Kenny Rogers. Has a hottie with him tonight.
Q: I know! I’ve been pointing that out to my wife all season!
I guess the breathe on Gibson equals a foul rules are still on.
Did Gibson really even get fouled the last couple times, the slightest contact = a foul with him.
I really starting to hate that this kid shares my last name. I dont even think Wade in last years finals were getting those calls
Hehe, didn’t even notice the same last name. Nice 3 prince.
OMG OMGOMOGMOGMOGMG. We better win now
I didn’t like that 3 from Billups with 22 seconds left and down 1 point. He made it, but we would have been screwed if we didn’t make it.
Just got to make a shot or draw a foul now……
If we lose this game in OT, good chance we are out of the series.
double ot. The pistons are driving me insane. Just finish them
Well at least we forced a 2nd OT. This has been to close, its so stressful watching these close games
Thank you Webber.
Can I get a double-team??
What a game. A good game by both teams. Lets give LeBron some credit… that guy alone(?) beat us down the stretch. It was insane the shots he was taking and making.
(?)- them cats are felonious… that’s all I’ll say.
FFS! If it were Kobe he would have dropped 81 on us… I really hate these Pistons…
Wow, I am in disbelief. I thought we played well… Well, it’s deja vu all over again and I’m praying that Dyess doesn’t get suspended for Game 6.
LeBron needs to be checked for steroids. He’s too big for a 22 year-old.
The road goes through Detroit… and keeps going. The Cavs stopped there for a while, but they keep going.
Nike got their wish.
Well…. do we jump all over Flip for not doubling Lebron on that final play?
omg flip…what coach was barkley and miller saying they were aghast that he didn’t have a head nba coaching gig? we should get him now…flip is a complete fool. how hard is it to double lebron? i know he cuts right thru us and doesn’t get any foul calls, ahhhhhhhhhhhh…i really hope we have chauncey back next year..with a good pick i think we can go somewhere
Well was a good season. I think the thing that would make me happiest next game is to let Amir play and let him get some good minutes in. Cant hurt can it? Would rather get him a little playoff experience then sit there and watch all our “vets” play and still lose. Im just hoping Joe D can work some more magic and get us in shape next season because no matter who wins this series theres no way the Pistons or Cavs can match the Spurs the way they are playing, least it doesnt appear that way.
Went back to the archives from May 17th of last year to read all the depressing comments and voices of defeat. Some of you even congratulated the Cavs on winning the series after Game 5 last year… but you know what? It wasn’t over then and it ain’t over now.
Maybe this is cheesy and simplistic but… we’re just fans! The Pistons need to go back to Cleveland with faith in themselves and their ability to take back this series. How about finding a way to muster up some faith amongst the fans?
Id put money on them in game 6. Look how much the NBA is benefitting from helping the cavs remain, and now take the lead, in the series. A game 7 would be great for ratings, im sure after the last 3 they feel that they can have the cavs win game 7 in Detroit.
I don’t know what to say. James was great! I hope Hope our boys can still pull it out.
I agree about Flip Saunders, I questioned him since he started as our coach. Face it, the pistons probably could make it to the postseason without a coach. We have so much potential, but it gets used in the wrong way.
I guess my point is we shouldn’t have this hard of time defeating them. Yes I know Lebron was godly in OT, but with a little better decisions we wouldn’t even had to have to force overtime before he caught on fire. His whole team did almost nothing in both rounds of OT, and we still let get that many shots off?
I think their coach is smarter than ours, plain and simple. Lebron doesn’t help our chances either. I almost would like to lose this series, I want some changes. I’m tired of even watching this. We barely scraped by the first two games, they barely made it through their next two wins. We played pretty good finally and still get beat by Lebron all by himself.
Even if we scrap out this series winning the next two games like last year. Theres no way were beating the Spurs.
Man, we were all witnesses. Argh.
I am not always a believer in history repeating itself…but lets just hope thats what will happen for this series.
I just now finished watching the game. (had a softball game I had to get to at halftime) Well, I’m glad I set the DVR to record the next TWO shows, but I am for sure disappointed in the results. Blaming the defense works, as do the numerous no-calls, but simply being beat by the best player in the series is not the real answer here. I sure wish the Pistons would play to their potential in the next (2) games, but I suppose that is asking an awful lot.
Time for another beer and then bed.
Q
PS: I thought we had a win for sure when they showed Chuck “Daddy Rich” Daly in the stands. Damn!
There’s no way I want Flip Saunders and his offense any further than this year. The Pistons have played up to potential for 2 Chicago wins . . . and of 15 games, they’ve been lackluster. Poor execution of plays is a testament to Cleveland’s strengths on defense . . . they take away the perimeter like Detroit does . . . but for substitutions, matchups, and crunch time calls, it seems like Flip doesn’t have the right answers.
No offense to Cleveland fans, but history’s missing a little fact . . . Detroit’s showed up for none of the 5 games. Detroit’s a better team, top to bottom . . . but it’s very possible that Flip’s system cannot adjust to the perimeter being taken away, and Flip can’t seem to stress the bigs attacking Cleveland’s interior defense. Rasheed and McDyess and Webber would rather stop short on post-ups than attack their basket until Cleveland holds up the white flag. They settle for too many low percentage shots, and that’s a sign that Flip’s grip isn’t there. You think Larry Brown would have been happy with Rasheed, in one of their last possessions, pulling up on a crucial shot for a low-percentage fadeaway, only to miss? Then Rasheed has the audacity to COMPLAIN that he wasn’t given the benefit of the call? Where was his aggression to the basket? If he drives that lane, he gets a call, not when he’s on a fade jumper!
i agree..the key to the cavs victory in all of the 3 games they won was lebron driving hard to the hoop. i think the pistons’ bigs should do the same instead of settling for low percentage fade away jumpers.that should wear out the cavs big men or at least give them foul trouble..they really should also defend lebron more agressively and not allow him to drive hard to the rim..make him earn his shots the hardest or roughest way possible..
