We can breath a (mini) sigh of relief:
The Pistons got some good news Friday when they learned that forward Antonio McDyess will not be suspended for his flagrant-2 foul on Anderson Varejao in Game 5.
As I pointed out on the FanHouse, McDyess will likely play a huge role in Game 6 given his fresh legs. He played just four minutes last night, while four of Detroit’s five starters played at least 46. (Spotted on Need4Sheed)

I just finished watching the game (~18 hours late as usual) and all i can say is that if 5 guys can’t take a 10 minute overtime game and win against one guy plus four dummies staning around him with their thumbs up their asses than it’s better that they don’t advance because - and it hurts me to say this - san antonio will sweep them right out of the finals and shame them to the point the team will break up and everybody goes away next season.
Even though McDyess shouldn’t have been ejected and even though hamilton got fouled plenty of times with no whistles and cleavlend got plenty of calls i didn’t think were waranted, it’s like lebron: a good team doesn’t get to a situation where one call makes all the difference. for example san antonio’s blitz of utah.
I feel like puking
I am glad he didnt get suspended. I want to see Detroit at full strength, but i also think it was a good call and it serves notice to both teams that hard fouls are one thing but clothelining a player and not even coming close to the ball will not be tolerated.
Both teams can play hard and aggressive without trying to hurt the other.
I already said this at Need4Sheed, so I apologize if it’s a rerun for anyone, but I’m kind of shocked that the NBA didn’t suspend McDyess, given their unbending, dictatorial approach to discipline this post-season.
But it’s good news for the Pistons, who need some right now. I agree that McDyess should have a big Game 6.
Thank goodness…I really feel Dice is ready to bust out.
Question is, Is there any game 6 magic left in our tank? Are they going to argue and fight amongst eachother, or are the going to concentrate and make the minor adjustments necessary to win this series? The Pistons have been at the top of the league for the past 5 years because of teamwork and hustle not individual play. They have shown the can shut Cleveland down at time but can they do it for 4 quarters? I know they can but will they? This is the last chance for this team as we have come to know it. I think they will pull it out. And please no red jerseys! Wear the Pistons blues! I want to see Tayshawn involved in the offense early and often. I want him to make Lebron play defense and get him into foul trouble. I want to see Dale Davis body up the Flopper and the skinhead, let him give the hard fouls, he has nothing to lose. I also think Flip Murry and Delfino need to get involved in the offense so were not as predictable. No matter what the calls are, keep your mouths shut! If you shut up and ball WE WILL WIN!
Could the Pistons in game 6 please try to defend the paint with a little more passion? It was disheartening to watch Lebron blow by one defender, Maxiell?? at the top of the key only to have to laugh away the help side defenders terrible attempt, ending in a emphatic throw down. At least Ben Wallace would have had the guts to stand his ground and contest Lebron’s drive to the basket. I am having a terrible time justifying the Piston’s keeping Flip Saunder’s as coach next year. Even if the Piston’s do win this series and move on, I think he is not what this team needs. I don’t know who we can get, but he just fails in making game adjustments again and again. We did have an outstanding coach in Larry Brown… why man, why?
Keep the faith Pistons fans!
if dice and webber are allegedly so desperate for a championship, then they better bring HUGE games to game 6. mcdyess had the most money jumper in the league at the end of the season. now, he just looks tight. and webber is done. one of the best outcomes from the pistons winning it all (though it’s WAY down the list) would be c-webb’s impending jerome bettis-esque retirment. it’s like watching patrick ewing at the end with those bags of glass he was calling knees. i know you were both hoping your teammates would just carry you to the ’ship, but that’s not how it works. you’ve got to pitch in a little too. you don’t just get to bring a red cup to the party without chipping in for the keg.
If the Pistons drop Game 6 or 7, then I seriously hope each one of them sells Flip Saunders down the river. I can’t believe I’m longing for the days of Rick Carlisle and Larry Brown . . . Flip’s offensive schemes fail on the slightest perimeter pressure.
If we don’t win the next 2 games then we’re gonna lose and everyones gonna get mad. Do you know what i don’t get? How come Pistons have the biggest stadium in the NBA, but it seems that other fans are louder than ours which shouldn’t be happening right now! WE MUST WIN!
Miguel your stadium is one of the older new stadiums so therefore noise does not carry as well in the Palace. It is really all about sound waves and the reflection of them back into an enclosed area.
Prince, Webber, and Sheed have been big disappointments for you guys. They most of all need to step up or you will go down tonight along with the Tigers!
