Scott from Raptorblog wants the Raps to offer Amir Johnson the full mid-level exception. I’m not sure if any NBA exec would feel comfortable doing that for a player with such little experience, but there’s always a chance someone gambles looking for a home run. (Thanks to Skeets for the link)

I like the idea… but it sounds like more of a fantasy idea than reality. Then again, if anyone could figure this out, it is Colangelo. Can the basketball gods hook up G. Wallace?
I haven’t seen enough of Amir Johnson except I remember a couple of highlights were he got up… and up… and up… anyways… the fantasy is G. Wallace, the reality is probably not… and Amir Johnson is too much of a risk even for the God himself Colangelo
I actually think he’s worth a gamble with the mid-level…
If I were another team in need of a young SF, I’d do it. You might over-pay in the beginning, but at the end of 5 years it would be a good price if he turns out. If not, there are plenty of teams who’d take on a young player with potential for an expiring contract, so you’d probably be able to get rid of him. Worst case scenario, Detroit matches the offer and is financially restricted from signing any other free agents. But as a Pistons fan I’m telling the Raptors to back off.
I dont think there is any way JoeD lets Amir go unless someone offers him an insane contract.
