Its funny. Me and my friend all of sudden got excited for them. He came over and I turned on the tv and the game was on. Ny was up 2 and then hit a 3. Det hits a three right back and we jump going “OHHHHH!” and “THE ANSWER!!!”. We just looked at each other and laughed since we were so into womans basketball
I was at the game with my family last night, and it was such a blast! The atmosphere was awesome, everyone was on their feet, screaming, cheering, and booing NY like crazy. I didn’t think I was going to survive OT, and the refs were just horrible. I knew that McCarvil girl was not going to make both FTs though. I could barely talk or hear afterwards. It was so much fun.
Seriously, I wish people (guys especially) would give these girls a chance instead of thinking it would be more fun “to watch paint dry”(my cousin’s attitude) than go to a game, and treat them with a condescending attitude just because they’re women and maybe don’t have the athleticism that men do. (Although Deanna Nolan is freakishly athletic– even though she’s only 5′10″ she has a true jump shot and last night just jumped up and easily touched the rim on the way to a time-out.)
Anyway, this was one of the most enjoyable experiences of my life, and I really encourage people to support this team.

Very excited indeed. I love the Shock because woman to man they have as much personality as any team I’ve ever watched. It’s like watching the Bad News Bears with a different ending every game.. Plus frankly the Detroit water polo team could be in the playoffs and I’d find 20 seconds to cheer.
Thanks for the link, up until I read that the only analysis I could find was Voepel’s page and a half long spiel about how great it was for the NY team to have actually competed. Seriously the woman drives me nuts, my favorite team not named Pistons just got rammed to the wall and managed to escape with the series in overtime and you spend an entire page talking about the LIBERTY? WHO LOST? Jesus I hate that woman… Though I’ll conceed, she’s 100% better than Wonderpuff Lieberman who near as I can tell doesn’t actually watch basketball anymore and has nice blonde hair as job qualifications.
thank-you someone is finally recognizing these women’s achievements. I love the shock and THEY ARE GOING 2 THE ECF!!! MAn that is a good accomplishment, plus we just came off a season of winning the championship. Man these girls work hard and they have a really good coach. I wonder if Bill would work out w/ the Pistons (i’m not saying Flip is a bad coach cuz he isn’t). It’s that Bill doesn’t allow the crap and the missed shots.
