Turns out his “earlier than expected” return won’t happen after all. From Krista Jahnke of the Detroit Free Press:
Pistons rookie Rodney Stuckey left a doctor’s visit Wednesday without the news he hoped to hear. He wasn’t cleared for anything beyond the non-contact work he has been doing for the last week.
He meets with doctors again Dec. 7, the date the team originally hoped he’d be able to rejoin the lineup. If doctors clear him then, he’ll first have to practice.
That means, more than likely, he won’t return until the following week, perhaps during a Memphis-Houston back-to-back trip.
It’s unfortunate, but it’s also kind of hard to miss what you’ve never had (preseason excepted). The Pistons are obviously playing well at the moment, so his return will kind of be a nice bonus more than anything else.

I’m starting to get the feeling we’re not going to see much from Stuckey this season. Just a gut feeling.
i still believe that we’ll see him more this season assuming either 2 things happen: 1) to continue where he left off (his best game ever, which was the last exhibition game) OR 2) Develop within the timeframe he did during summer.
Bones heal like paint dries. It takes X amount of time. You can be impatiently tempted to touch up a paint job here and there while it’s drying but more times than not you end up screwing things up by leaving streak marks that can be fixed unless you start from scratch. Since bones (especially bones in an NBA guard’s hands) are a little more precious than a pint of paint and the hour you spent painting a door it’s best that Stuckey heals up completely before coming back.
Aim for a 2008 return Pistons - if and only if Stuckey is 100%.
Perhaps we won’t see too much from Stuckey, but hopefully his presence will pressure Flip Murray a bit to play like a real point guard, even when he’s not starting.
Damn you Matt, I do miss him! I miss him dearly! Why God! I just want to see this guy play!
Okay… Now that that’s out of my system… I think/hope you’re wrong kevin s. Everyone in the organization seems to be very high on this kid. They’re saying things that they never said about even Amir. Flip seems to love him. So do the starters. He’ll have his struggles but I think/hope we’re looking at Deron Williams 2.0.
I think we can cool off on the “not much from Stuckey this season”. He’ll play, he’ll get some burn come January, at least 10 mins per.
Remember– this is his NON shooting hand. NON shooting hand.
Brandon Roy won Rookie of the Year despite missing the early part of the season. Granted, Stuckey won’t get the type of burn Roy did, but there’s no reason he can’t be the sixth or seventh man everyone pegged him for this year.
Totally off topic I know but…….. this was hilarious when I read it:
Celtics forward James Posey took out the team’s radio announcers going over the scorer’s table for a loose ball early in the second quarter. Cedric Maxwell got out of the way, but Sean Grande went to the ground, still talking.
Hahah. http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/recap?gameId=271129002 (courtesy link the game recap so McCosky doesn’t burn down Matt’s house).
i hope we see him soon he is the future point guard
