(For the second part of that video, go here)
Chicago has won only five times this year … including once against the Pistons. While this rivalry may not be quite the same level of Pistons-LeBron (no offense to the other 11 guys in Cleveland), it’s still something more than just yet another game on the schedule.
Besides, the Bulls have won three of four, which counts for something (even if they have beat up on the lowly Bobcats twice in that span). Can the Pistons extend their winning streak to six? Tune in and find out. It’s an early one, though: the ball tips at 7pm, an hour earlier than usual to accommodate ESPN. As usual, leave your thoughts in the comments.

If it makes you feel better, Bulls fans freaking hate your team.
So much so that when we get someone from your team we wind up hating him too! ;-p
um…well it’s only a rivalry after Tyrus Thomas blows up and Chicago wins a playoff series. So we’ll all have to wait until post-Skiles, apparently.
How ’bout that Tyson Chandler?
Just a quick fyi the game is also being broadcast on NBC (channel 4) if you live in SE Michigan. Not sure if they will have diffrent i.e. hometown announcers. As a Michigan fan, I sort of view the Bulls like I view Michigan State. Always play us tough, will beat us in our down times, but when it really counts they are Little Brother. This pertaining to the last few years, of course.
c’mon stones…

As a big brother, I sort of view my little brother a certain way. He’s a wimp, and at the end of the day, he’s my little brother.
We haven’t played ya’ll tough in basketball in a while now. =)
Man are we playing like crap. I even want Flip Murray on the floor to create some offense.
how is ben flipping out not a tech?
Sometimes thats how i feel when we play yall in football but it will soon change. *sigh*
I think both teams are playing like crap, zero offense and alot of bricks.
I hate ESPN. really I do!!!!!!
half time thoughts:
That color commentator on ESPN is the worst in broadcasting history, his blather about scott skiles made me swear out loud at my tv
as much as i want chauncey to succeed i’m glad they’re not calling it when he jumps in to people
that tech on rip was another travesty
as much as i hate said broadcaster, he was right, we b@%ch too much about calls
did you see chauncey stare down the refs as they left the court at the end of the half? that maxiell foul musta pissed him off something awful
Random rant…
Bill Walton, career effective FG% - .521, # of 3 pointers - 0
Rasheed Wallace, career effective FG% - .511, # of 3 pointers - 757
Hey Big Red, stop telling Rasheed he has to go down in the post. Outside shots are a part of his game. Not every big man has to play in the paint every minute of the game. This is 2007, not 1977. I’d like to see ‘Sheed down low a bit more too but it’s ridiculous for Walton to harp on Wallace shooting from outside everytime he broadcasts a Pistons game. And for somebody who preaches fundamentals Mr. Walton your career 66% FT% suggests you weren’t perfect the perfect basketball player your reputation suggests.
please …… oh my god!!!! i hate espn…….
Flop!!!!!!
Mr. Nocioni should of won an Oscar.
These calls are getting annoying.
So glad I get Blaha and Special K.
Breen actually called Nocioni a “good flopper”. Is that a backhanded compliment or just a blatant insult? In any event, nice that Mike Breen, a broadcaster not a commentator, points out that Nocioni flops consistently. I have a good feeling that all’s well that ends well regarding this game. The Bulls just won’t go away, but that doesn’t mean they’ll win. Ha, Van Gundy said that Argentinians (No Ginobli!) flop “like heck” and he wondered aloud if they practice it, at least there’s a little poetic justice there.
Bah.
Can’t win every game. You win some, you lose some.
I’ll post this while I’m angry.
Pitiful Pistons. This is embarassing and you know it.
I need give no details. We fans that watched saw it and know. Sigh. Tomorrow will be a brighter day, but I’m somehow ready for bed right now.
Thoughts:
Bulls would be a good team if they had drafted Aldridge like they should of (I’m pretty sure they took Thomas over him but I could be wrong).
Nocioni is the only Bull that consistently impresses me. They should trade Deng and one of the young bigs for a serviceable post player.
These are the kinds of games Stuckey will come in handy. There were some serious droughts when Lindsay was at the point.
Refs seemed to let the Bulls play physical but not the Pistons.
Why does we stop moving and start focusing on exploiting mismatches everytime we play the Bulls? Forget the fucking mismatches and just run your offense. The mismatches will come.
Eric,
It’s tough to say for sure, since my perception of the game was the last 8 minutes over the radio, but it seems to me that way the game was lost (late turnovers, no stops on defense, missed layups and frigid shooting) was probably a function of 5 games in the last 7 days. Not even on a physical level, necessarily, but how do you mantain that focus for so many games? I know it was Chicago, and I know it was at home, and driving to my house from work I pounded the steering wheel at least three times, but it was a BRUTAL stretch of games that had to have some consquences some time. Hopefully this will serve as a reminder that there are tough games and hungry opponents around every corner.
The Bulls hit their jumpers. They are a jump-shooting team.
Clearly, Ben Wallace can hit free throws when he cares enough. The eight-in-a-row stuff would have been helpful when we were competing for a championship, but maybe he was too worried that he was being disrespected. Of course, playing well five games a year is hardly a way to earn respect (or an 8 figure salary), but oh well.
Sour grapes? Perhaps. But at least my team plays well enough for teams to amped up to play against them.
Darshan,
Interesting that you say that about exploiting matchups. That’s the main reason I hate seeing the Pistons, because they can really take it to the mismatches (Ben Gordon especially).
also, if Aldridge was drafted (they took him and traded him for Thomas) he’d be on the bench anyway. It’s a Skiles thing.
No thoughts on Noah? I’m pretty sure that was his best game as a pro.
Noah did precisely what we hoped JMax would do (until he fouled out) - went hard after the rim. I have a healthy rage for Noah ever since he led Florida past my George Mason team, but I gotta respect him… But at least he doesn’t play Argentinian style - flopping.
I don’t mind losing a few regular season games. I do mind Afflalo only getting 6 minutes and the DNP for Amir Johnson. Amir would have been a good option to guard Nocioni. What’s up with the bench rotation? I wish Flip Saunders would just say he’s shortening his bench until he sees X from a few players (more effort, better decisions, whatever) instead of all of a sudden elevating Lindsey Hunter over Flip Murray and then burying Amir Johnson. I’m all for the coach keeping control of the team but it only makes sense to explain the DNPs (or the press to ask about them at least).
I went to bed pissed but now I’m back to reality. Can’t win every game. I just hate that we lost to Chicago both times now. Can’t expect to win when you get a combined 14 pts from both of your starting forwards and both of their backups. That’s right…14 pts between Tay, Dice, Max, Hayes. Now that’s pathetic. I didn’t mind Lindsey playing. He was very pesky on defense and made a nice shot or two. Once again, a team with athletic bigs giving us major problems man. I just get pissed when they lose national tv games because those are the only ones I get to see here in Atlanta
Sheeds defense is just ridiculous. I realized last night that Sheed is the truth with his pesky defense man. If he keeps this up, he should make 1st team all defense. We simply couldn’t guard Nocioni man.
p.s. Watching that you tube clip brought a tear to my eye. I will NEVER love another team the way I loved the Bad Boys. I guess you never get over your 1st love man. Anyone else share my sentiments regarding the Bad Boys???
I’m probably wrong about this, but it seemed Chicago not only out-hustled and out-rebounded Detroit . . . they also got the emphatic benefit of every doubt from the referees.
Apparently it was charity night in Auburn Hills.
Detroit’s gotta stop doing that.
That game was like listening to the White Stripes version of “Walking with a Ghost.” Awful.
There will never be another team like the bad boys — EVER!
They were so good and so awesome and so intimidating that they made the NBA change all kinds of rules and change the game so the Bad Boys could never dominate again
Watching Jordan literally get killed as he went down the lane and juxtaposing this with Lebron killing us in the playoffs speaks volumes
As I teach my kids to play bball - the bad boys will always be my main role models

Bad Boys:
Watching the bad boys win their championships was the first real bonding experience i remember with my father. during one year’s finals i had a coloring with garfield in a basketball jersey. that
had to be on display above the tv for just one half of every game. It’s the reason we won.
isaiah thomas was the greatest point guard ever.

Go to work boys:
I’m ok with losing this one, i think we need to lose some key matchups this year to keep us humble and hungry for the playoffs.
I’m actually ok with not seeing Amir in this game. The refs were so whistle happy against the pistons. If Maxy fouled out Amir would have had no chance. Although considering how bad Nazr is at avoiding stupid fouls who knows…
Sheed is a monster. Seeing him at the top of the zone was mind boggling. I’m sure he can’t keep that up for too many possessions, but dang.
i understand going with the hot hand, but we don’t always have to go to the same guy on the exact next possession. it’s annoying. somebody drains an open shot. next possession goes right back to them, their defender crowds them, they force something up and miss it. come on chauncey, you’re smarter than that. dyess drains something, go to hamilton, then go back to dyess, then you try something, then go back to dyess. mix it up some.
when tay can’t hit s#$% he can’t hit s#$%, stop going to him or make him drive and dish.
against us or no, i’m glad big ben did well.
jeff van gundy is the worst everything ever. he can’t coach, he looks like a zombie (worst at looking like a living being) and that was the worst commentating ever. ever. i wanted to die. he literally made me contemplate ending my life just so i wouldn’t have to hear him or exist in the same reality as his voice.
