Interesting idea about trading Chauncey for Arenas. Not sure Arenas has shown he can really run a team like Chauncey can though, no matter how talented he is.
Am I mistaken, or is Bill Simmons suggesting that the best Detroit can hope for with their current roster is to lose in the second round?
Seems pretty crazy to me. The Pistons are still an elite team, and a finals appearance is still a realistic goal for them.
Speaking of crazy, am I crazy to think that trading Chauncey for Arenas would hurt their chances in the playoffs rather than help them. Not that Arenas isn’t an excellent player, but he doesn’t seem like the right fit in Detroit. At least, not a better fit than Chauncey is already.
The only way the Stones will lose in the second round is if somehow San Antonio ends up playing in the Eastern Conference playoffs and all five of our starters get the flu at once.
I’d consider trading Billups for Arenas - if Arenas somehow woke up one morning and said, “I got it! I now know that there’s TWO sides to this game: offense AND defense! Brilliant!”
