I don't think Johnson is falling out of favor, it's just difficult for him since the Pistons are so freaking deep. In an absolute best-case scenario, he's still the 10th man in the rotation, and that's without counting Brezec. The fact that he's averaging almost nine minutes in 20 games is actually quite impressive, all things considered. Jason Maxiell had similarly spotty minutes last year before breaking out this year. Johnson is probably on that development track (although, barring a trade, there will still be several big men in front of him in 08-09).

matt. what's the update on amir johnson...don't get me wrong, i love whats happening with affalo and stuck, but i wanted to know what the pistons are doing with amir as far as practice/training. is he progressing? i have a feeling that stuck is getting all the training he needs to gain his playing minutes and i hope that's what they're doing with amir. i would love to see both of them progress at the same time.

Am I the only one who has noticed the Pistons are number one for the second week in a row on Marc Stein's Power Rankings? Are we not speaking of this to avoid any type of "jinx" or is it all about the Pistons flying under the radar, even given their recent streak? I really wanted the Blazers to continue to win, so they would sort of overshadow the current Pistons streak, but as I told my friends--it is hard to beat a Sloan coached team 3x in a row, two in their building!
