The Pistons are in DC

The game has already started — those 7pm tip-offs really throw me off — but here’s the belated game-thread. The Wizards don’t have Gilbert Arenas, but they’re still 15-14 on the year thanks to Caron Butler and Antawn Jamison stepping up their game. For some reason, the Wizards always play the Pistons tough — they’re 5-2 against Detroit the last two years. Expect this one to stay close the whole game. As always, leave your thoughts in the comments.

booing jarvis while he’s down… stay classy, washington.

  2. 2 Boney

Stuckey has a tendency to pick up his dribble on the perimeter when trying to get a play run, a really good defensive team would trap that.. luckily the Wiz aren’t a good defensive team.

  3. 3 Boney

the worst thing about that foul tedwick was the the local color guy here, Phil Chenier, claimed that was a clean block… aside from Blatche getting his arm, head and body on the floor, it was clean.

  4. 4 Eric

Jesus. Welcome back to D.C. Jarvis! That foul was rough.

  5. 5 Matt Watson

Watching that literally put a knot in my stomach — I’m glad he avoided having his head ricochet off the ground or it could’ve been much, much worse.

  6. 6 steve

Some lockdown D from us there to start the 2nd on a 10-0 run tho… nice way to shut down their douchebaggery.

And Rip just tied and passed to move to #10 all-time!

  7. 7 joejoejoe

steve - #10 all-time in what? Detroit scoring?

  8. 8 steve

Do they know how to do anything other than boo in DC?

  9. 9 steve

Yea, Detroit scoring… sorry, shoulda said that.

  10. 10 Boney

aside from Stuckey being shy in taking the ball to the rack he had 1 nice take to the rim and a dish for a foul to Max…

he let Stevenson blow by him like 20 seconds into his night, but after that he played alright… he’s definitely not 6′5 though

  11. 11 Boney

Boney just called me and told me they’re doing what Cleveland does (show logos of city rivals, Dallas Cowboys, Philly Flyers, etc)… this is Boney’s roommate.

  12. 12 Matt C.

Rip is also a 100 something points short from #9, they said he should get it by the end of the month.

  13. 13 Boney

    Maxiell with a baby…

  14. 14 kevin s.

Solid half. Everyone is doing well except Chauncey, who is the last person I worry about.

  15. 15 LawyerBoy

Charlotte and Chicago are at the half as well. Nazr with a reasonable seven points in FOUR minutes of action.

  16. 16 waltonlikesmen1

Don’t worry, everyone likes to hate the Pistons…they embody everything a struggling franchise isn’t. If I was a Washington fan, ahhhh forget it, the theorhetical just doesn’t work well in sports from my experience. Let’s just hope we take this one tonight, ten in a row just has that ring to it.

  17. 17 waltonlikesmen1

I live in CA and my shitty cable provider doesn’t offer league pass so all I can do is follow the score and stats, could anyone be kind enough to post what they thought were the key points at the half? Thanks!

  18. 18 Boney

all reports from the arena point to more than a handful of Chris Webber bullets jerseys, Rasheed Wallace jerseys (bullets), Hamilton Wizards and Hayes jerseys… in washington, it’s a sensitive topic to talk about the former players that have gone on and been successful. Even though Hayes is only scoring 7.5 a night, that’s successful in the eyes of Wiz fans because he’s a former Wiz on a team with former Bullets and Wiz that have become successful.

It’s hard to tell though when you’re at a Wiz game how many wiz fans are there. Just like Redskins games, it’s like going to a networking event because 70% of the arena is there because they got free tickets from a client or salesperson.

  19. 19 Boney

the keys so far to the game have been the putbacks for Detroit, the interior defense for detroit and the perimeter shooting for both teams. both are shooting a high percentage from 3.

hopefully Brezec will get some run tonight. Pistons making this game look easy.

  20. 20 waltonlikesmen1

Good to hear, thanks a lot boney!

  21. 21 joejoejoe

The Pistons have 3 former Wizards/Bullets, Rip, Jarvis, and ‘Sheed. I wonder if they like going back to DC?

  22. 22 Boney

Sheed wasn’t a Bullet but for one year. It’s a sensitive subject in the area because 2 great big men were traded for 2 little guys who never did much in Washington (Mitch Richmond and Rod Strickland). The Wiz haven’t been able to draft a good big man since.

Hamilton has said he didn’t like the fact that they traded him. He re-dedicated himself and made the 3 point line his friend.

  23. 23 waltonlikesmen1

Just noticed that Rip only has 9 minutes of PT but has 15 points with 1 foul, is there some reason he sat out over a quarter in the first half? Or were the stats on nba.com just incorrect (wouldn’t be the first time)?

  24. 24 Matt C.

    Sheed with another T.

  25. 25 Boney

Twan is the softest power forward in the league, plain and simple. he plays no d, he can’t post up, etc.

if Sheed puts a body on him, it’s an offensive foul

  26. 26 Boney

    don’t piss off Sheed

  27. 27 waltonlikesmen1

from the last couple of posts, its sounds to me that I just missed a Sheed technical followed by a Sheed 3, am I right? And if so, DAMMIT!!! I live for those moments!

  28. 28 Boney

no Sheed got a T, then the next possession he hit a 18 footer off glass.

then the hometown announcer wanted a flagrant on Sheed for that last foul against Butler.

  29. 29 Boney

game is not as close as the score would indicate (or the hometown announcers would like you to believe)

  30. 30 Boney

first “ball don’t lie” of the night from Sheed on the missed Nick Young free throw

  31. 31 Boney

ANOTHER BABY EATEN AT THE BUZZER!

    PLAY OF THE NIGHT

  32. 32 steve

    BABY!

  33. 33 piñon lopez

the commentators for washington are very, very, amateur.

  34. 34 piñon lopez

though they were really excited to see Jmaxx EAT A BABY BUFFET!

  35. 35 Boney

PUTBACK OF THE NIGHT! AT THE BUZZER WITH THE THROWDOWN

    BOOM GOES THE DYNAMITE

  36. 36 waltonlikesmen1

wait, so the 3rd is already over?

  37. 37 steve

That’s the official “eff you” play of the night.

  38. 38 Boney

yeah 3rd was over at my first comment..

Tay missed a 3 and Maxiell executed a putback dunk at the buzzer… took the ball off the rim, out of the air and flushed it…

  39. 39 waltonlikesmen1

Nice, hopefully that makes the highlights, they’re all I get to see.

  40. 40 tedwick

wow. nick young is not good at defense.

  41. 41 Boney

Nick Young is getting abused by Rip.

  42. 42 steve

THAT is taking the rookie to school, right there

  43. 43 Boney

this game is over… pistons up 17

  44. 44 Matt C.

Rookie Nick Young got pump faked twice this game.

  45. 45 steve

Who’s glad we took Stuckey over Young?

    ::raises hand::

  46. 46 piñon lopez

    nice play by hamilton

  47. 47 Boney

Stuckey is making Young look foolish… Mister Irrelevant wants Nick Young in the Dunk Contest, but I’d take Stuckey in real life basketball over a dunk contest

  48. 48 Boney

Jarvis with the 3… if any of you are in DC right now, that’s what Steve Buckhantz would call a “dagger”

  49. 49 Matt C.

I’m sure that 3 made Hayes feel a lot better. Stuckey looks better every game.

  50. 50 steve

Ok, that 3 by Jarvis might also be the “eff you” play of the night… 20 point lead!

  51. 51 Boney

    in game check in -

Got a call from Boney. the fans in the row in front of their lower level box have begun throwing peanuts and popcorn in the box at him because he’s been yelling dagger on every 3 pointer made by detroit tonight. evidently security came down when he yelled and 1 after that last Young foul on Richard hamilton

  52. 52 steve

So everyone expected this to be a close game… I guess after a 45 point whoopin’ a 15-20 point lead is relatively close, right?

  53. 53 Matt C.

Maxiell is getting pretty comfortable with that close jumper.

  54. 54 Boney

max has 13 and 6 boards, and 2 babies on a platter

  55. 55 Matt C.

    Ohh a Hayes 3 again.

  56. 56 tedwick

I think every shot Jarvis has drained tonight is an “eff you” bucket.

  57. 57 g

its about time for our new yugoslavian human victory cigar to check in.

  58. 58 Boney

    in game check in -

wizards fans are leaving the arena. a beer was poured over the glass seperating the common folk from the suite. a lot of cursing. jason maxiell’s arms are longer in real life than they look on tv.

  59. 59 Boney

    another baby eaten by Maxiell.

  60. 60 tedwick

ok. we’re up by 18 with 5 left. it’s time to pull the remaining starters. flip, please get dice and rip out of there.

  61. 61 steve

Tedwick… agreed, although that one sequence was killer… Stuckey steals it, quick dish across the court, Jarvis for a long gun… that hurts

Maxey’s having a New Years Baby-Eatin Feast tonight!

  62. 62 Matt C.

    And another Hayes 3.

  63. 63 Boney

Brendan Haywood dribbles worse than an awkward high school basketball guy who is only on the team because he’s tall. we had one of those on our team back in the day, it was hard to watch. he could rebound, but he was jealous of Dennis Rodman’s ballhandling abilities.

  64. 64 tedwick

jarvis is a man on a mission.

  65. 65 steve

Mmmmm Jarvis-ness… he’s been on a tear these last 4 games

  66. 66 Quick Darshan

Flip probably wants Stuckey to get some more time with Rip running those curls.

  67. 67 Boney

    in game check in -

Boney is now yelling “3 cola” on every 3 point attempt. floor in the suite is soiled with beer, napkins, soda and the aforementioned popcorn and peanut shells. Very unhappy with the output of the Wiz fans, expected more out of them. Only have seen 2 Washington Redskins letter jackets tonight (wool with leather sleeves and championship seasons on the back).

  68. 68 steve

    Ok Fabio, do somethin special!

  69. 69 Boney

BREZEC WITH THE RETURN TO SENDER!

  70. 70 g

primo just blocked a huge dunk attempt and rolled out the dikembe finger waggle!

    we like it.

  71. 71 Boney

    ZOO CREW AMIR FLUSH!

  72. 72 steve

Brezec with the Dikembe finger-shake… I love this guy, he’s always doin somethin amusing

  73. 73 steve

    Amir thunder dunk!

  74. 74 yak

    AMIIIIIIIIIRRRRR

  75. 75 Mike Payne

Its very easy to be a Pistons fan right now. Its very hard to be a Wizards commentator right now. Those guys are a class act. Awesome game…

  76. 76 Boney

post game check in (I asked Boney about Brezec forearm sleeves) -

Brezec looks like he’s been hanging out with Lions receiver Roy Williams with those black arm sleeves. Someone should tell him there’s no artificial turf on the wood.

We’re going to hang out 30 minutes or so until the Wiz fans clear out almost. The smell of the bums outside as they lay on the exhaust vents downtown here is simply amazing. Verizon Center is a joke of an arena, if you didn’t know it was an arena you’d think it’s an office building from the outside.

Andray Blatche didn’t take too kindly to Herrmann’s 3 point attempt with 3 seconds left in the game. He said something which caused Herrmann to look at him…

  77. 77 waltonlikesmen1

    what’s the score?

  78. 78 steve

106-93 … not indicative of the thumping we just delivered

  79. 79 Quick Darshan

    waltonlikesmen1, use cbs.sportsline.com’s gametracker. I found it’s even quicker than nba.com.

  80. 80 waltonlikesmen1

    Thanks

  81. 81 waltonlikesmen1

you know thnigs are going well when the point differential is one of the key stats piston fans are looking at. Good times!

  82. 82 Tbranch

I was watching on line and listening to those rotten Washington announcers during the first half. Yech!

Now I’m watching the Celtics game and they have a color guy with a thick Boston accent who is also terrible.

  83. 83 waltonlikesmen1

I get FS Bay Area here and recieve all the Warriors games. Every game, their announcers have at least three minutes dedicated to praising the warriors “exciting” brand of basketball and how they represent the future stlye of play. Sometimes I just want to scream at them “Does the future not include rebounding and 4th quarter clock management?” But hey, local announcers, what do you expect?

  84. 84 Boney

    alright I’m back…

have any of you guys ever gone to the “conversation” portion of any of the Celtics’ game recaps? It’s almost as if Celtics fans feel the need to continually pat each other on the back to support each other’s insecurities.

Come on Celtics fans, act like you been there before man!

  85. 85 PistonsGirl4Life

    Some observations:

    A) Oh wow that was fun. Jarvis DEFINATELY didn’t like the early hard foul did he? You could almost see it on his face every time he nailed a shot “You gonna hit me in my welcome back game? Oh now it’s on!” Final score was flattering for Washington due to Detroit’s new policy of “letting everyone on the team play so their mom has a reason to tune in during the 4th quarter”. I mean seriously it’s like little league T -ball out there “the inning isn’t over until everyone bats”.

    B) If Manu Ginobilli stays nicked up, does the 6th man award come down to Maxy vs a resurgent Ben Gordon? No, I’m being serious.

    C) Honestly, all is NOT yet forgiven but… nice job Flipster. You’ve pretty much outcoached most of the eastern conference so far this year. I swear if I wasn’t watching it with my own eyes I’d have trouble believing it. Otoh Detroit is a playoff town so it doesn’t mean jack if we don’t at least make the finals. Just sayin.

    D) What the heck do Wizards have to do with basketball? I mean seriously can they just go back to being the Bullets? Rude or not at least that makes sense. I’m just having a hard time picturing Gandolf dominating the glass or generating turnovers/fast break points. Aren’t Wizards old white dudes who cast spells and wear robes?

    E) The bartender at the place I go to watch Piston’s games on the big screen asked me how I can stand watching a team that wins so much. When I told him “don’t worry man, someday, probably before you die even the Raptors will win a playoff series”. It’s good to be a Pistons fan baby.

  86. 86 Diablo

“Or were the stats on nba.com just incorrect (wouldn’t be the first time)?”

I found that NBA.com’s boxscore is a load of crap. The other day while I was trying to follow the Buck’s game, their boxscore still had Nazr on the Pistons and left Brezec and Herrmann off the roster. It also stated that Flip Murray had like 15 pts in 20 minutes of play. That gave me enough evidence to realize they were feeding me a load of crap, so I switched over to yahoo’s stat-tracker.

Also, I wasn’t sure about the acquisition of Rodney Stuckey over the summer but looking back, it really shows the caliber of genius Joe Dumars’ possess. -becomes sincerely thankful Detroit didn’t draft Nick Young-

  87. 87 PistonsGirl4Life

“It also stated that Flip Murray had like 15 pts in 20 minutes of play.” - unfortunately that was on 7 for 25 shooting and he split the ft’s.

    (Sorry, I just can’t help but kick a man when he’s down :) )

  88. 88 Forty

No way to know what Rasheed actually said during the tech, but judging by his and the ref’s demeanor throughout, looked awfully like a reputation t.

Also, to chime in re: homer announcers, how great was the Washington play-by-play guy’s immediate call for a flagrant on the Sheed foul on Caron, followed by his backing down after the replay showed it was nowhere near a flagrant (not to mention the fact that Butler didn’t even hit the floor on the play), followed by his trying to save face by absurdly suggesting Rasheed was telling the ref it wasn’t a flagrant.

  89. 89 Diablo

“unfortunately that was on 7 for 25 shooting and he split the ft’s.”

Sounds like a Stackhouse shooting night. :O

I was at the game, and I gotta say that seeing Jarvis do well against DC was worth every penny I spent on those tix.

RE: CELTICS FANS ACTING LIKE THEY’VE BEEN THERE BEFORE

The ones that have been there before are too old to know what the internet is.

    RE: HOMER ANNOUNCERS

Just be thankful you don’t have to listen to Joel Myers doing a Laker broadcast.

  92. 92 Rob G

Next game in DC is the 23rd. DC DBBers should buy a section of the VC and go crazy…

  93. 93 Rob G

    the 23rd of March, I should say…

  94. 94 Q Dog

Nice win. The baby Maxy devoured at the end of the 3rd was the 5th best play of the day on the worldwide leader. The top four were bullshit, but I may be biased.

  95. 95 PDXPistonsFan

I finally got to watch a game in the comfort of my own home. It was jerky and cut in and out, and I have to prop my laptop in my bedroom window just to steal my internet, but watching Max hone in on a small pudgy hand holding a rattle, the unmistakable odor of diapers and strained carrots, and come barelling out of nowhere to eat a baby with no time on the clock… it’s been worth the wait.

    Bad Boys Til I Die!

  96. 96 Pat Hunt

    http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/dailydime?page=dime-080103

The Pistons are all over ESPN’s Daily Dime, including a poll on who is the better team, Detroit or Boston. Detroit leads with something like 2/3 of the 2100 votes.

  97. 97 JesseC

Rob G & Boney: I’m from Virginia and I’m definitely looking forward to the Sunday game in March. Maybe would could bring baby dolls and hold em up or toss em when Max does his thing?

  98. 98 Brad

I was at the game. The best moment of the night, for me, came when Daniels was called for a technical foul because he was VEHEMENTLY protesting the no call of Chauncey stripping him. They showed the replay on the big screen and even the Bullets fan next to me was saying “He got all ball.”

    general notes:
    - The bums do smell outside the arena.
    - The announcers are full-fledged cornbread eatin’ kool-aid drinking mo’ fo’s. They canned an announcer a few years back because he was too critical, so now they just say nice things about the Bullets and gasp at anything that doesn’t go Washington’s way.
    - EVERY person in DC wants the Wiz to go back to being the Bullets… except the owner. According to him the term “Bullets” (originally the Baltimore Bullets) promotes violence.
    - The Wizards logo is the worst logo in all of sports, accompanied by a color combo that’s attrocious. THANK GOD the first thing Dumars did when he became GM was go back to red, white, and blue colors. That to me is Dumars crowning acheivement.

  99. 99 farlane

I don’t think I’ve ever seen the Dime go so gushy for the Pistons. Does Legler have a new girlfriend from Detroit?

  100. 100 TWR

I was also at the game last night, and would LOVE to sit with some Pistons fans for the Mar 23 contest (instead of the cadavers I sat with last night…typical Wiz fans, not even passionate enough to tell you opposing fans to f— off). Let me know if anyone has got a section organized or something like that. I wanna get rowdy next time!

OT, and I REALLY don’t want to say I told ya so… but for the Corey Maggette lovers out there:

    http://clipperblog.com/index.php?itemid=471

Don’t make me pull out the one’s about Mike Dunleavy.

  102. 102 Boney

You’re proving what I’ve said already PistonsGirl. Thank you for that… In Detroit he’d be the best player coming off the bench that Detroit has, and with the scheme Detroit runs his lack of defense wouldn’t hurt that much.

thanks for proving my point for me :)

  103. 103 PistonsGirl4Life

You just read a description of a primarily offensive player who can’t run set offensive plays and you want to put him on a team coached by “Flip Set Offensive Play Saunders”.

So your point was you should NEVER coach basketball?

    We agree on SOMETHING.

  104. 104 PistonsGirl4Life

(Note that has pretty much nothing to do with my point anyways, since really nobody is getting Corey Maggette as a backup. Keegan (who I mistook for Kevin) mentioned him as a “great Duke product” in another thread… which made me laugh because he’s as over-rated as they come. Shawn Marion with way less heart, significantly less talent and even less basketball IQ. Additionally and completely SEPERATE from his over-ratedness…he’s a Dukie.. which makes it okay to hate him even if he WERE good… which btw he is, in a backup or 3rd/4th option kinda way. Sorta like Luol Deng but with less jumpshot… still the same crappy defence and zero heart though, notice a trend here? Duke players not named Carlos Boozer = Have great strokes, zero heart, can’t play defence and get drafted too early)

  105. 105 Quick Darshan

    PG4L and other UMers,

Is it just me being a homer or is the West Virginia vitriol being directed at Rich Rodriguez way excessive.

Yes, it was a bad situation. But, the blame for me goes to the whole system that puts so much of a premium on recruiting that a coach has to start doing it in December.

Also, they wouldn’t even be in that BCS game with all those great athletes if it wasn’t for him.

And it was the staff he brought in that was making all the play calls (boy did that game get me excited about our new coordinators!).

I find it funny that they hired Bill Stewart even though his whole staff is gone. I didn’t hear the guy’s press conference but if he didn’t thank Rich Rodriguez for all he did for the University and paving the way for him, then he’s classless.

  106. 106 Boney

sure thing PG4L… a compliment like that coming from someone that says Grant Hill was overrated, I’ll take it. :)

  107. 107 Boney

WVU is not a top flight program in the grand scheme of things. A few years ago his conference was raided of all the top teams, leaving the Big East with really only WVU and a handful of stragglers and hangers on. For WVU’s administration and their fan base to be so pissed off at Rich Rodriguez, it’s pure blind homerism on their part. Michigan is the premier college football coaching job in the country, plain and simple. Going to michigan is like going to the Steelers or the Packers. 9 times out of 10, the coach stays for years and is consistently a winner or a team that can compete.

I was more sad to see Ron English leave UM than I was happy to see Rodriguez come in. I’m not a fan of the spread offense, I think it takes away from guys with true NFL ability. A guy like Ryan Mallet comes along once in a great while, and to see him possibly transfer out because he’s not like Pat White is simply wrong.

  108. 108 Quick Darshan

I agree with you Boney. I think Rodriquez was a good hire, but I would have preferred someone like Jeff Tedford. Someone who still runs a pro-style offense.

I wouldn’t have such a problem with Mike DeBord’s offense if I could remember a time in the last decade that he ever called a slant pass. I’d be willing to bet that the last time UM threw a slant was when Tai Streets broke one against OSU. For the last ten years, it’s been all deep crossing patterns and bombs. It’s like an Al Davis offense.

  109. 109 Keegan

“great Duke product” = not actual quote. Nice try, though.

18 and 6 is usually indicative of a “solid NBA player,” as I described him. I’d take him over Dunleavy 6 out of 7 days of the week.

I’m not screaming that these guys are the franchise. Dunleavy and Maggette may very well be cases of the “Loy Vaught Syndrome,” where playing big minutes on poor teams bloats the statlines of those unfortunate souls filling the rosters. B-Teamers who look All-Star quality compared to those surrounding them. Or, what Jarvis Hayes would probably be if he were starting on some bottom-feeder. Note how Maggette’s averaging 20 a game, three points per game better than last year, with three more shot attempts per game than last year. Brand is out, and the offensive burden is distributed among the rest. Kaman looks like a freak this year because the only guys he’ll fight for rebounds with is Al Thornton and the 6′6″ Maggette. Kaman’s a good player, but I’d like to see what happens to his production whenever Brand returns.

LVS came to be known as Abdur-Rahim Syndrome (ARS), and is currently known as Mo Williams Syndrome (MWS), until Dunleavy makes the title his own going into 2008.

  110. 110 PistonsGirl4Life

Keegan, I still think you’re missunderstanding my motives here..:

“great Duke product” = not actual quote. Nice try, though.

The sarcasm/quotation marks aren’t for you. They’re for Duke.

Do you people WATCH college basketball? Hating Duke is a RELIGION guy… wait wait wait, I get it… you ARE a Dukie… okay fine, take my last 7-8 posts on this subject and WHEREVER you see the words “Duke, Duke product, Duke Graduate or Dukie” substitute “F&*king Tar Heel”…

makes way more sense to you now doesn’t it?

(From a logic perspective there’s no discussion anyways. Maggette is highly over-rated because despite being paid LIKE a player you can feature in an offence (1st/2nd option) he well, can’t be featured in an offence… just like the blogger said, several days after I did in a drunken Mike Dunleavy Jr rant… just sayin yo)

  111. 111 PistonsGirl4Life

The RR situation confuses me quite a bit. I mean what’s the big deal, the guy left for a better job. More than ANYTHING else I’m somewhat insulted that WVU isn’t willing to acknowledge that the UM job is exactly that… better.

I’m also a little disapointed in our media for not defending the guy, but I mean that is to be expected. We’re finally joining “modern” college football and I was half expecting a bit of negativity no matter WHO we hired because the usual Michigan way is blind nepotism…I’m mildy suprised we survived a coaching search at ALL without major scandal/embarassment simply because the Wolverines have ZERO experience doing this sort of thing (and to be fair the search was neither stress free nor short and could DEFINATELY had lead to a potential embarassment for the Athletic Department if they hadn’t pulled down a name as palpable as RR’s).

As for the pro offence talk, whichever, PRO TEAMS aren’t drafting those types of players anymore. Drew Bledsoe’s day is over, it happened right infront of us. Michigan has consistantly looked slow on both sides of the ball for YEARS now. I’m ready for a change, and if that means we beat OSU 44-38 in a wild game where the lead changes hands 15 times, FINE…. WINNING is better than LOSING 10-3.

Tim Legler giving the Pistons some love? Tim Legler?

As for UM, Martin should have ponied up the dollars and given Miles whatever he wanted. I mean, I think the group here is correct in noting it’s the most prestigious football head coaching job in the country. I have the feeling Miles will be the next head coach anyway in a couple of years after RR goes 7-5 a couple of times.

@ V - Did you watch the the West Virginia/Oklahoma game? Now imagine Michigan = West Virginia + Top 10 recruiting classes. Michigan basically just used a spread against Florida and we saw how that turned out (the game wouldve been a complete beatdown if you takeaway just the 2 Hart fumbles). I doubt UM will go 7-5 in even the first year of the coaching change much less multiple times.

Hi Fel, I saw parts of it, I think I was having dinner in the coffee shop of the Hard Rock. Every time I looked up at the TV, WV was scoring again. But I remember that 13-9 debacle against Pitt, and how this school plays in a 2d rate conference, and if they had won, like they were supposed to by 3 TDs or so, there’s no doubt in my mind Miles would have gone to UM.

I’m willing to be proven wrong on this, but in my experience class will tell, and RR will be playing a much tougher schedule than he did at WV.
