Clarification on the Twolves pick.

The Wolves traded their TOP 56 protected 08 pick to the Spurs for Udrih and cash. Since the wolves wont finish with a top4 record in the league, the Spurs will not be getting the pick. Keith Langlois has recently written in a mailbag that he's been hearing that Detroit will definately be getting the pick this year in addition DX has #31 going to Detroit.

"imo, if we can integrate herrmann and amir while continuing to develope max, stuck and afflalo we can have the most flexible team in the league, able to outrun the suns and slow it down with the celtics or spurs."

Good point Kyle

In case you already read it, I made one clarification and one correction to the post:

1)it's 100 days from the start of training camp, not the start of the regular season.

2) Detroit won't be getting Minny's 2nd-rounder this year -- it was Minny's choice this year or next, and they've since traded this year's pick to the Spurs.

We are SO lucky to have a man of Joe D's caliber running our team! Look at the mess Zeke as strewn in his wake; look at how McHale has turned the Timberwolves into the worst team in the NBA; look at Jordan and his inability to make good things happen in Charlotte! (notice how our two new players acquired from Charlotte seem much happier in Detroit with less PT...) Ainge may win the executive of the year for bringing in the big 3, but it really is Joe D who would win the Mr. Consistency award for fielding teams that work hard and come to play year after year!

Good luck in Texas boys, do us proud!

I should start wearing a little bracelet that says "WWJD" and tell people it stands for "What would Joe do?" And then when they look at me funny, I'll reply, "PUT AMIR IN!"

something that struck me about that article was this quote from Rip:

"I think even in some of those years when our bench wasn't scoring as much, I think we had some guys who could score but just weren't playing."

ahh, but it's so much more convenient to label them "inconsistent" and just ride the starters to impressive regular season numbers that will keep your job safe.

i'm afraid i don't buy the notion that flip has finally come around and seen how important a bench is. he gets the idea that keeping the starters fresh is good, but having never had one in the past has no idea how to fully integrate a diverse and talented bench. i get the feeling that if joe d weren't breathing down his neck we'd have a repeat of the last two years, and i worry that Joe's influence will fade as the season goes on.

imo, if we can integrate herrmann and amir while continuing to develope max, stuck and afflalo we can have the most flexible team in the league, able to outrun the suns and slow it down with the celtics or spurs.

You can count me in as someone that intensely watches the last 5 minutes of a blowout. I was a little bummed when I missed the last 3 minutes of the New Years Eve Buckblast due to early festivities. It might be the huge amount of Amir Kool-Aid we were all drinking this past fall-summer or the extreme visual awkwardness of Herrmann and Primoz... either way I get just as as excited about those guys scoring in 4th as I do Rip and Sheed scoring in the 1st.

Those 2nd round picks are like playing with house money. Joe D keeps stockpiling them and sometimes they turn into Alex Acker & Sammy Mejia (no harm, no foul) and sometimes they turn into Amir or the possible 31st pick. Who knows how good Toronto will be in 2-4 years but if they fall apart then we could possibly be getting early 30's picks in '09 7 '11 because of Delfino. By the way, Flip Murray probably could be had for a couple of 2nd round picks right now and the piston's would be losing nothing by shipping him out. Wow, sorry about the long post.
