I did the same dunk earlier today, and all my buddies, and all the spectators agreed that it was totally badass...

While I agree it technically wasn't a "dunk", you'll never see a person throw a ball so hard at a basket and still make it any other way. Its in its own category... but I'm ok with calling it a dunk because it was so incredible. If he had used the same force and "dunked", it would have shattered his hand. Its just incredible that someone says "Well, I want to gorilla dunk it so hard that it'll break every bone in my hand, but I don't want that so I'll just take off from just inside the free throw line and jump so high that I can gorilla line drive it in." Just amazing.

The fact that he threw it in is MORE impressive considering the angle it takes to do that. I wish everyone would stop splitting hairs about that dunk. It was everything that the contest should be. Top 5.
Did anyone catch Gerald Green's last dunk? It seemed like he might have pissed off some of the panel when he signed his shoes and threw them on the table but I haven't heard anything about it.

Is this what happens when Pistons **** a stranger in the ***?

Good fortune wished to the Coens and P.T. Anderson for their instant classics, "No Country for Old Men," and "There Will Be Blood," respectively. Hollywood should hold a separate award ceremony for both. Not that the other films are bad, just that those two films are that much more awesome.

that dunk was literally a throw-down. I don't think we can lump the two together (rip's foot versus dwight's dunk) because the first is objective and the second completely subjective.

Love the Big Lebowski reference, BTW...

Dirk's foot was on the line for at least two shots in the first round, and perhaps more but you can't see the shooters feet on some shots.

Howard's "dunk" was not a dunk, but it was the most forcefull hook shot ever.

Yeah, there were definitely snoring noises. Pretty much the only possible culprit is Barkley. Hilarious.

I kinda think it's Rip's fault that he had his foot on the line and not fair to lump his faux pas in with the Howard javelin throw. At first I was very much angry, but a) it's a friendly competition and b) he had plenty of time to make sure he wasn't shooting them with his foot on the line. No one else made the mistake (maybe because Rip went first though?). At least he didn't basically embarrass himself like Chauncey (2004, 2006) and Nash (this year) did with their 3 point contest performances.

I agree, it was not really a 'slam dunk' - I thought for a moment that he might make another attempt, but no one else seemed to care.
BTW - did anyone else hear the snoring noises when DR. J was rambling on about his pick for the winner? Was that Barkley?

He threw it down. That was unquestionably a dunk, just like a half-court shot is still a 3-pointer.
