Umm … what does this highlight have to do with tonight’s game (8pm, FSN) against the Bucks? Not much, to be honest, although there is an Oscar Robertson sighting right around the 1:15 mark.
After letting the Magic rout them at the Palace last night, the Pistons should come out firing against the Bucks. Michael Redd is still one of the top guards in the East and Andrew Bogut isn’t half the bust he once looked like he’d become, but seriously, the last time these two teams met, the Pistons won by 45 freakin’ points. The Bucks have lost eight of their last 10, so it’s not like things have turned around for them all that much.
For the Bucks’ view of the world, check out MKE Bucks Diary and Brew Hoop. Otherwise, leave your thoughts on the game in the comments.

Pistons starting slow. Come on boys. Turn up the energy.
real ugly so far. Lets hope they pick it up
1st quarter - It’s a Violet Palmer, get in the car.
Nobody turned off lunchtime for Detroit’s starters since the 10th win. It’s not funny anymore.
Anyone have a link to the game?
Detroit’s defense, last 2 games - vomit comet.
sadly you’re right…
Stern is chuckling quietly and congratulating himself for his brilliant decision to put three Pistons in the All Star Game. No energy, no ball movement, no prayer. When the Pistons take a night off, they take a night off.
I watched the old-timer video link provided in the post.
I want to see Michael Jordan suit up for a vicious block by Dennis Rodman.
57-42 Milwaukee at the half.
It’s nice to have off-shooting nights. Detroit does this. However, they can’t have off-energy nights. Off-energy nights, especially on defense, lead to this kind of party.
If they’re daring Joe for a trade, that’s not wise. He’ll do it.
Dude, we’re struggling to even make layups. We are seriously the suck tonight.
Holy crap, ball movement!
I don’t care if they shoot 30 percent . . . just keep plugging, Detroit. Don’t lose that energy.
Good God, what the hell is going on?
Hahaha. Desmond Mason, young man.
watching the allstar game, i came to the sad realization (again) that we just don’t have any of those “wow” guys. dyess was a “wow” guy. so was sheed. tay maybe could be whenever he finally finds some consistency. rip never. chauncey once in a while with his timely jumpers. i know that’s a point of pride for us in some ways to not have that superstar, but the problem is these guys act like they’re superstars. no one believes their own hype like this team. it’s disgusting and frustrating and it’s always their undoing. expecting things will be easy. expecting the refs to treat them like jordan. i just want to shake the s*** out of them. and i know you can’t rely on saunders to do that. he actually cursed in the press yesterday. finally. wake up and wake these bums up. vacation’s over. back to work.
I missed the “Imitate a Piston and Play Against the Bucks Contest”, but I wish I would have entered because it looks like the winners on the floor are having a good time. Lucky bastards. Are the real Pistons going to play the next game?
This is seriously embarrassing. We are getting outworked at every position.
Aaargh! Trade everybody! Fire everybody!
I don’t usually turn off a game in the middle, but this is too painful. I’m going to go slam my fingers in my car door, or something.
I’m finding myself watching more of the Lakers/Suns game at this point.
AIRBALL
Hahahaha. Mo Williams. Young man.
I swear that if my rec league team plays like the Pistons tonight, we’ll be laughed off the court. When I go 2-12 from 3 ball land, I usually figure out another way to score. WTF? Didn’t we hang a 45 pt. loss on them earlier in the season? (insert stream of bad words here)
At least the lunar eclipse is bitchin.
Other Matt beat me to it: Trade Tay! Fire Flip! Send Joe D to management school!
Eh. Bad game. in February. Big deal. Let’s just hope they don’t make a habit of it.
And it has me wishing we had Hill coming in behind Tay.
3rd quarter summary:
Chauncey Billups - A plus plus
Antonio McDyess - O positive
Rest of Detroit - Z
Geez, we need a practice. This is what we always worry about when they take some time off. Which team is going to show up?
I am tired, for one serious moment, of seeing Detroit’s zone defense collapse like an accordion.
Stuckey, you’re like a furlong ahead of everyone. On that feed, JAM IT HOME!
At least the kids are getting some burn.
PDX’s comment about slamming his fingers in the car door has to be one of the best comments of the year…
Seriously, this should be like an 8 point game. We’ve had a chance to close this lead and we’ve made some astoundingly stupid decisions offensively. Things like firing up a 3 with 18 seconds left on the shot clock. Or taking a jumper when we’re 1 on 3. Everything about this game is aggravating. Like somebody else said, when we mail one in we really mail one in.
Chauncey, you thief. You know that foul was a serious case of bee ess. Good job.
We’ve been hornswoggled! Bogut looks really awesome! These aren’t Pistons . . . they’re body-doubles! Or the pod people got them!
I want to see Flip Saunders throw a chair during the post-game.
lol, six point game - nice to see Milwaukee can’t close out games.
Wow, glad I checked back. I have no idea what the hell happened in the last few minutes of play, but this last 1:30 could be interesting.
Uh, turn the game back on, people… it’s getting close!
HAHAHA 3 point game
It’s like that moment in the movie “Scanners” where the guy’s head explodes.
It’s a shame Amir can’t get a call.
SHEEEEEEEEEEEEED!!!!!!!!!
RASHEED YOU ARE @#$#@$ CRAZY
3 point game again
COME ON FOR GOD’S SAKE WIN THIS THING OR FORGEDABOUDIT
Note: Amir = 0 personal fouls.
Webber sighting?
Mo Williams, meet Chris Webber.
Oh well, them’s the breaks.
Good to know Milwaukee is a pasty team in the clutch.
*still
only a team coached by Larry Krystowiak would let Detroit get it back to 3… Detroit didn’t deserve to be in the game this late in the game.
The only player I can honestly say I hate to see win more than LeBron is Andrew Bogut. He is a prick, and I hope his eye problem becomes more of a problem sooner rather than later.
the reason Detroit lost the game is because Amir Johnson was playing during crunch time
*hat tip to Sauce
Okay, now we have had two practice games. Let’s bring it on Friday.
Great opportunity for Amir. It’s good to see Flip have some confidence in him down the stretch.
I might be a little too cynical with this view, but I’m glad we didn’t win that game. For most of this season, this team has been all about energy and playing well and showing up. To have come back and won this game after playing like a pile of turds for about 44 and a half minutes would have caused me to have some serious worry about the Pistons of the last 2 seasons to start showing up again. We didn’t deserve to win it, and I hope it showed our guys that they can’t just sleep walk through games and flip the switch with like 5 minutes to go.
Okay, flame away.
I didn’t see the game, but based on the box score, what was up with Stuckey? 0-5 for zero points?
And it looked (again, from th box score) like Detroit only made it close at the very end because of a rather flukey series of threes by ‘Sheed.
Other Matt, there isn’t enough cynical.
TJ, this was not a good Stuckey game, in general.
This also wasn’t a great Detroit defensive game, either, in general.
I went to the library half way through the third and I am glad. I don’t care if we had won. Games like this are bullshit. A disgrace.
I’m hoping the Bucks aren’t too confident coming into the Palace on Friday - you gotta have doubts if you let up on a twenty point lead.
Didn’t see the game but reading the posts I have to agree with the one that said that it’s good that they didn’t come back and win.
I don’t mind the Orlando loss either because it let Orlando gain a game on Cleveland.
The Pistons’ll right the ship. I’m not worried. Then again, I’d probably be as pissed as y’all if I actually watched the game.
Watching the Suns-Lakers game - Shaq looks good, and at one point, after a Kobe goaltend of his shot, Shaq sprinted up the court a la 2006. Goofy as hell, but it looks like the big man still knows how to win…
…but Gasol and Kobe look downright scary.
The Lakers’ Phil Jackson, O’Neal’s former coach, said Shaq’s role would be “taking the ball out of bounds and waiting for the other team to get back.”
-laughs…then laughs some more-
Man, I’m glad I didn’t watch that Pistons debacle. I don’t think my TV could have handled it. I DID watch the Suns/Lakers and it kicked ass. Very entertaining game, and Shaq didn’t look great but he looked good enough for spot minutes. Stoudamire is a monster, and Kobe and Gasol are scary (and they’re proving me wrong).
On the other “First Game” front, Kidd got TORCHED by Chris Paul. Welcome back to the West, Ason.

Bruce Bowen.
Flashdance.
Wow.
If you guys are looking for a scapegoat for the Pistons current two loses… look no further. Two weeks in a row on Marc Stein’s power rankings spells it all.
Too much respect and this team stops caring… sigh.. Don’t care if they lose, but I hate it when they don’t play with any heart. At least they made it a game near the end.
Flipping the switch here: Has anyone heard anything about the Swin Cash trade that was supposed to happen?
Yeah, it happened, Diablo.

Detroit got a pick in return.
“Captain, we’re picking something up on the radar.”
“What is it?”
“It looks like a horse, and it’s just gotten around ten of our defenses!”
“Prepare for the attack!”
“Wait! It just… disappeared.”
“What?”
It must have gone…
UNDER THE RADAR: The Detroit Pistons Story. Coming to a theater near you.
Both the Lakers and Suns looked scary. I don’t know who’s coming out of the West (I’m not counting out the Spurs until they lose a fourth game in the series), but whoever it is will likely be starting 2-3 all-star starters. Now, the Pistons in ‘04 beat a loaded starting five in the finals, but that’s because (i) that Laker team had no depth at all, and (ii) the Pistons had a ton of depth.
Of course, Detroit is going to have to play extremely well to get out of the East, but the way these Western teams are loading up on talent is just bizarre.
I think the Western Conference opponent just got inherently worse. Dallas weakened it’s position, while Phoenix has done the same unless we see some magical resurgence from Shaq. SA has largely stood pat (though the Thomas addition was nice), and the Lakers have emerged to the point where Kobe will likely put off the surgery that they would need to be a clear cut finals favorite.
You now have six teams that could come out of the conference, and the Rockets, Warriors and Nuggets can win a series. Whoever comes out of the West won’t be as good as last years Spurs (or Mavs, or Suns), but will be much more tired.
at least boston’s dumped two in a row out west while we’ve been dorking around with the likes of the bucks and the magic. of course, we could be a game out of the #1 seed if these guys hadn’t left their “goin’ to work” t-shirts on the beach in the bahamas. they better be coughing up blood after practice today.
hehe from chat with chad ford it sounds like chicago is trying unload ben wallace & duhon to cleveland for drew gooden and garbagey players, but cleveland wants to get rid of hughes and his terrible contract. not sure how that makes either team much better.
Sweet! Juan Dixon! We’re good to go.
Dixon for Brezec. There goes our biggest cheerleader, while thinning our back-up frontcourt. But what can Dixon do that Flip Murray can’t?
Hmmmmmm…
Not sure this trade does a whole lot…However, Dixon is shooting around 43% from the land of three. The problem I see is that Dixon is a small 6-3. Where does he play? What we need is consistent shooting and defense from our backup SF. I tend to agree with that article on here previously that recommended just playing herrmann more. I don’t want Dixon taking minutes from Stuckey and afflalo.
Toronto used him mostly as an SG last year, and he’s been splitting him between PG and SG this year. Although he’s undersized for an SG, I think I see him biting into Afflalo’s minutes.
