Grant Hill on why he didn’t sign with Detroit this summer: “It would have been hard to go back and not be the same (player),” said Hill, who signed instead with the Suns. “I realized that during the playoffs. It was hard to play there. I used to play so well in that building (The Palace) and I was just average — that was tough.”

I’m a fan of Grant Hill, but that sounds like a lie to me. I doubt that the real story has anything to do with the fact that his ability has slightly diminished since his stint with the Pistons. I imagine he probably wanted to enjoy warm weather in Phoenix. I live in Los Angeles, far be it for me to blame him for that preference, however, I don’t hide it. There’s something else there, that’s what I think.
It may be a lie, but I would bet that he still had some memories come back to him that were bittersweet at best.
I’m a huge Grant Hill fan. Every time his name comes up I have to break out the VHS tapes:

I wish he would have signed with us, but he’s flourishing in Phoenix (even though I thought his busted wheel would keep him from running and gunning) so good for him.
grant hill is the KING of bs. he is the master of telling people what they want hear and make himself look good.people seem to forget how he left the pistons.after leading joe dumars to believe he was going to resign with detroit, thus preventing joe d from trading him and getting another player,he bolted to orlando at the first instant he could (12:01) on the day he became a fa.people think we got c atkins and ben wallace in a sign and trade deal, but they where already signed by detroit before hill signed with orlando.a sign and trade was arranaged afterwords because orlando needed cap space to give hill the same max deal they gave tracy mcgrady.so grieve for g hill if you must, but remember that,in the end, he’s just a stabbing, selfserving a$$.
