Detroit Bad Boys Suite Night

Let’s just pretend Wednesday’s game didn’t happen, okay? Instead, here are some pictures from Tuesday’s romp against the Nuggets, which I attended along with a handful of long-time readers of this site as guests in the Pistons.com suite courtesy of the team.

Created with Admarket’s flickrSLiDR.

For even more pictures, check out the Detroit Bad Boys group pool on Flickr.

The night started with a behind-the-scenes tour led by Pistons director of strategic communications/blogger/friend of DBB Dave Wieme, which included passing Rasheed Wallace and Theo Ratliff in the hallway on their way to the locker room, a peek at the exclusive KeyBank Club, a short-cut through Bill Davidson’s personal suite and a chance to watch the Pistons and Nuggets shoot-around from courtside. As if that wasn’t enough, we eventually made our way up to the suite, which included both an excellent view of the game as well as a visit from the 1990 Larry O’Brien trophy.

The highlights? All of the above, as well as the chance to finally meet some long-time readers of the site, including Quick Darshan, sauce1977, Matt and Luke, as well as their friends and family. I know I can speak for everyone when I say we all had an incredible time, so I’d really like to thank Dave for making this all happen by reaching out not only to me but also Natalie from Need4Sheed, who hosted a similar event for some of her readers last month.

(It was so cool finally meeting people in person that this seems like a good time to remind you about the upcoming Blogfest on Sunday, April 13 against the Toronto Raptors. Last year the planning was thrown together at the last-second, but this time around the Pistons are actually helping facilitate things by taking orders and putting us all in the same section. For just $30, you’ll get a ticket that normally sells for $35 plus a free hat and a chance to mingle with me, Natalie and your fellow readers, which is worth the price of admission alone, right?)

This evening . . . I won’t forget it, not for a long time. Thanks Matt for the opportunity. It was time well spent, for everyone.

I second that, Matt. It was great to get a chance to meet you and your wife.

And I feel like a dumbass, Sauce1977. I met you but either I was introduced to you by your real name or I just didn’t hear it right.

That’s alright QD, I’m Chris, and don’t feel dumb. Most of the time I tend to agree with what you say. Now people are going to use that against us. We’ll have to be more crafty, ha.

Oh, and Matt, I remember you describing the Jason Maxiell “dunksplosion” at the end of the introduction a while back.

I assumed that it was just an effect on the video screen. So, here I am watching the video screen as Maxiell goes up for a dunk waiting for this cool video effect, and then whole f’n building blows up! It scared the piss outta me.

Thanks for sharing the pictures. It looks like you all had a great time. I admire the organization even more (if that’s even possible) knowing they hooked you up!

    Go Pistons!

It was great meeting everyone! I think my favorite part was seeing Sheed walking down the hall. It was also pretty funny hearing the players talk trash to each other during the shoot-around. I hope to see you all again!

Best time ever! Thank you so much, Matt.
