Quick Blogfest Announcement: If you bought tickets for Blogfest this Sunday, we’re meeting at 11am in the Comcast Pavilion. We have a few things up our sleeves, including some prizes and some other surprises I can’t really talk about just yet. I know 11am is two hours before tip-off, but it’ll be worth it. And now back to our regularly scheduled broadcasting …
The Wizards are in town, and they’re (almost) at full strength with Gilbert Arenas back. Granted, Arenas has been coming off the bench for them since returning to action, so that means Rodney Stuckey and Co. will have their hands full tonight. Fortunately for the Pistons, Rip Hamilton is expected to return — he’s missed eight of the last nine with a sore hip and hasn’t played since March 29.
The Pistons and Wiz have split their first two games, and tonight’s game should be a good one. I’ll be at the Palace filing pre-game, halftime and postgame reports for HOOPSWORLD, and as usual, leave your thoughts in the comments.

Have fun, guys. Would be there if I could.
Hey Cavs! Way to be losing to the Bulls at the half despite 28 by LeBron. That’s what I like about Detroit; you’ll never catch the Pistons coasting against sub-.500 teams. It’s consistent effort, night-in, night-out.
Keegan, hopefully that was a sarcastic statement
Maxiell is feasting tonight. “There’s on more baby / that will never go to school / never get to fall in love / never get to being cool”
Looking really good, this is one of those nights where we’re making all the right decisions and getting all the bounces. Great effort, Max is a monster tonight. Fun game to watch.
Also, I had a chance to go to the Wednesday game in Philly and I got basically what I expected. I was actually hoping to watch Stuckey and Arron and Amir and Walter because I haven’t had a chance to see any of those guys in person yet (except Amir). I was surprised at how big Stuckey and Afflalo were, much taller than they appear on TV. The only thing that left me disappointed was the effort on the defensive end, I really thought we mailed it in. I was fortunate enough to be in pretty good seats and I could say plays unfolding, and I knew that the guys on the floor had to see it too, but we were just a step slow rotating or reacting. That kind of thing was contagious to our 2nd unit (until the very end when we unleashed that 1-2-2 with Walter up top). Over all though, I definitely enjoyed it, the new Wachovia center in Philly is very nice.
One day, ONE day, I will make it to a Pistons game.
Only approx 18017 km one way. If I start walking now…
Did I just see an assist to Hayes in the boxscore?
Shoulda said “there’s ONE more baby…”
JMax with the career high! B to the A to the D to the A to the S to tha… S, y’all!
Laughton, you’re in Australia, right? All of you international Pistons fans should plan a weekend next year to make it to a Pistons game. Hell, us Pistons fans will try to find a way to host you for a night or two and show you a good time in the US of A. I don’t have much to offer personally, as I’m in Iowa until a year from this fall (or so). But hell, it’d be inspiring to see all of you come together.
U know wat mike that idea sure has some merit! i reckon pistons fans internationally would jump at such an opportunity
mike payne
I’m there - great idea
I would be over there faster than goanna up a tree.
Someone must have shown Maxiell the video of Arenas making this season predictions… where he predicts Detroit to place behind Chicago and Cleveland in the Central, and goes on to say that Clevelands the perfect team. The interviewer incredulously keeps pointing out all of Detroits weapons, but Arenas sticks to his guns saying stuff like “Amir who???” and “Maxiell??? come on.”
Anyone got a link to that??? I couldn’t find one.
i couldn’t believe it when arenas said that. i’m used to shaq ragging on other team’s role players, but it’s even more pathetic for arenas to do it. he’s basically made a career out of having a chip on his shoulder because so many people have underestimated him. now he publicly does the same thing to other players. amazing. classless, pathetic and amazing.
Maxiell
Not bad.
He is beginning a big problem for the Pistons.
That is because we never know which Maxiell will show up from game to game.
One game like last night he is great and then for 5 games he will disappear.
His inconsistency his horrible for a guy who has now 3 full years of NBA experience.
All I want from him coming off the bench is a minimum consistent 10 and 5 every single game.
I will gladly trade that for a couple of superman performance a year with a lot of dud games.
Thankfully the Pistons have had Amir who has bailed out Maxey quite a bit this year when Maxey has had one of his many dud games.
Consistency is what makes champions, not a couple of great games a year.
3 years experience but look at Max’s minutes
05-06 - 26games - 6.1mpg - 159mplayed
06-07 - 67games - 14.1mpg - 943mplayed
07-08 - 79games - 21.4mpg - 1690mplayed
Thats almost twice as many minutes this year as last and many times more than his first. I think he just ran out of gas at times this season, but he looked great last night, and hopefully hes good to go for the playoffs.
This is funny. NBADraft.net has us drafting Lester Hudson from Tennesse-Martin. Check out who his NBA comparison is..

i don’t think max has been inconsistent to the point that it raises an alarm. he can’t be relied on to be a top scorer every night (though with his high percentage mid-range game he probably could), but he’s not being asked to. however, he does more good then harm any time he plays. he’s an excellent defender. those traps with lindsey and max must be terrifying.
You know who Rodney Stuckey’s comparison was? Dajuan Wagner. Their comparisons are hilariously bad. Marco Belinelli is apparently Ray Allen. And so on, and lol forth.
Here’s the Arenas interview mentioned above:

Kudos to Dumars for making ecxellent selections without particularly high draft picks. All of these guys look like contributors, even Cheikh Samb. Save for the Darko debacle, everything’s been an A+.
Do the pistons get a first round pick this season? If so, how high is it.
29, nat. unless Detroit gives up 2nd seed in the league to LA or NO by April 16th.
looks like it’s either toronto or philly in the first. washington can’t finish worse than 6th after beating the sixers at home tonight. philly looked pathetic tonight. i think detroit’s gonna wax the floor with either of them.
nbadraft’s player comparisons are always absolute best case scenarios, so yeah, they can be a bit ridiculous. I don’t bother reading it other than their draft mocks of the next year.
the draftexpress.com comparison’s are much better and more realistic.
