(Update: Should have figured — you can pre-order a Detroit shirt, as well.)
Also, here’s a portion of Dan Shaughnessy’s column from Monday’s Boston Globe:
Can’t help it. The Celtics are ahead of the Pistons, and the Lakers are ahead of the Spurs, and by this time next week we could be knee deep in Magic/Larry throwback jerseys and “Beat LA” chants. It’ll be time to dust off that video of Kevin McHale taking down Kurt Rambis on the breakaway at the Forum in 1984.
If things go according to plan, Game 1 of Celtics vs. Lakers starts next Thursday night at the Garden (Tuesday if by some miracle the Celtics and Lakers both win in five).
[…] The story lines will be spectacular. We can go way back to the 1960s when the Lakers never could beat the Celtics in the Finals. There was Frank Selvy’s shot and six Lakers teams sent home by the Green. There was the night Jack Kent Cooke filled the Forum ceiling with balloons, infuriating Red Auerbach and inspiring Bill Russell in his last professional game. The ‘69 Celtics beat a Lakers team that had Wilt Chamberlain, Jerry West, and Elgin Baylor. It was the last roundup for Russell and Sam Jones.
Blah blah blah — he goes on to mention every notable Boston-LA Finals in the 70’s and 80’s, but I’ll spare you. No one’s winning this series in five games, we know that much after Detroit’s dominating win in Game 4. The Lakers just took a 3-1 lead over the Spurs, so “if things go according to plan” in my book, the NBA Finals will be about re-visiting the 1988, 1989 and 2004 NBA Finals.

In spite of the result last night (the closest 19 point decision you’ll ever see), it seems to me the Celts are just thismuch better than than the Pistons. But… it’s been an extremely entertaining series so far, but the Pistons have the edge in the fact that Boston is just flat out terrible on the road. It’s almost a blessing they have two road games, as opposed to two home games.
Flip got a lot of love, particularly from Kenny Smith tonight on the TNT post game show. I concur. Moreover, I’m confident Doc Rivers is going to find a way to mess this up. It’s probably going 7, we’ll see how it pans out. Mr. Shaughnessy is a little ahead of himself. Can wait to see the column is they lose.
I love it when a plan comes together.

Perhaps next week we could all be part of the LA underground.
So does this make Shaughnessy the Colonel Decker?
A little premature. Detroit doesn’t need the motivation, they got Dice for that, but Boston better not buy into the hype. That’s the kinda shit that will come back and bite you on the arse!
dan shaugnessy epitomizes the phrase “tool.”
i don’t think he could avoid sounding like a complete crank even if he tried.
the pistons are gonna make him eat his feet by this time next sunday.
@Sauce:
actually, its “i love it when a plan for a plan coming together comes together”.
That’s the motivational phrase in the meta title of my company’s project management wiki.
I love what happens to these shirts when they don’t pan out correctly - you generally see them worn by starving children in South Africa on the Feed The Children Network.
@Pistonian revolution
Now, there’s something that Boston and Detroit fans can both agree on. Nobody likes the CHB here either.
Lets make sure that T-shirt goes to wherever those “Superbowl Champions 19-0″ T’s went.
Don’t look now, but here is the Pistons 2008 championship shirt.

The NBA can’t wait to make more money.
As I said Prophecy, on the backs of malnourished children.
Sigh. I used to own a “Three the Hard Way” t-shirt, put out the year after the second of the Bad Boys’s back-to-back ’ships. Could never bring myself to wear it.
I have a “Dean for President ‘04″ shirt if anyone wants it…
When I was walking through a flea market way back when, I spotted some 1987 Detroit Tigers AL Champions shirts.
aahemmm

god, i loathe the celtics so much. the thought of losing to them makes me want to trip children on the playground. they are easily in my top 5 most hated franchises in any sport. the only good thing about boston is the tv series “cheers.” and that was shot in l.a.
(ironically, i actually like boston, the town. i guess i’m just currently at odds with everyone who resides within it.)

You can visit the above link to order your Detroit Pistons ECF Championship tee shirt. Motivation goes both ways.
JD, infinity percent agreed.

Deadspin is never wrong, even when they’re wrong.
it’s one thing to pre-order these shirts online, but its another thing when these shirts are on the racks, being sold b4 the series ends.
I saw a Celtics “2008 Division Champion” hat at a sporting goods store and it made me sick. Celtics and their fans don’t put up banners or celebrate anything but championships, and any Celtics fan who would wear anything that referred to a conference or division championship is a poser.
Some young Celtics fans might not remember our last championship, in 1986, but if they don’t know the history, they aren’t real fans.
This best of three between Boston and Detroit for the right to go to the Finals is going to be a battle for the ages. We still haven’t seen a game yet where both teams were at the top of their game.
NBA Store online made it available to pre-order those T-shirts for all 4 ECF teams. The fact that the Celtics’ shirts were actually in stores on racks is the crazy thing.
doesn’t matter. still hate boston. celtics are jerks. and sam adams beer is awful and his miniseries was boring.
Some Boston fan was telling me that Sam Adams beer tasted like donkey piss, but I shooed him away with a broom, screaming, “Begone, foul one! Only you’d know what that tastes like!”

Try better beer, you Boston bums.
