First, in case you missed it: yes, Boston’s locker room was sweltering on Monday. Were the Pistons playing tricks on the visitors? Probably not … but I’m curious to see if the ghost of Red Auerbach turns off the Pistons’ hot water after the game.
With a win tonight the Pistons will put the Celtics in an elimination game at the Palace in Game 6. That’s too good to pass up — expect maximum effort from the opening tip to the final buzzer.
I’ll be at FanHouse live-blogging this game. Feel free to stop by and say hello, and of course, leave all your thoughts on the game right here in the comments.

Someone please hire Avery Johnson. He’s like a villain in an southern-gothic film.
For the Pistons. Again, let K-Pierce have their shots. Just stop boobie and the fatman.
From Eastern Michington, Rodney Stuckey. Homework, people, homework.
Play smart, dont let this game slip at the start…
Earlier I made a statement I’d like to correct:
“Perkins guaranteeing a victory is like Cheikh Samb guaranteeing a victory.”
That should be:
“Perkins guaranteeing a victory is like Kid Rock guaranteeing a victory.”
Here we go. Pistons by 8 tonight. You heard it here first.
Whoever punches first will win. Dice should have the team sufficiently humbled into submission. He’ll get more attention tonight, which should give Sheed more true one-on-one looks in the post.
Look for RR to try and have a big game. CB needs to shut that down.
I’m really interested to see how the 1st 5 minutes of this game plays out. Let’s Go Stones!
enjoy the game amigos! i hope i don’t have to watch too much of the angry turkey!
Perkins guaranteeing a victory is like Dash Rick guaranteeing a victory.
I hope TP keeps PP under wraps. That match up will be especially critical tonight. PP will want to “bring it” on his home court in such an important game. If the Celts can get shaken up early, then the Pistons can get them into desperation mode. If the Pistons come out soft, they will regret it, as it will likely spell D-E-F-E-A-T for them.
Let’s go. I want the REAL, WINNING, PASSIONATE Pistons to show p tonight. The game 2 and 4 Pistons. The 2004 Pistons.
93 points wins.
Go Stones! Won’t be here to watch or keep up because of family stuff, but get me a damn win.
“I can say one thing tonight: it’s our time tonight.” The Flip don’t lie! I liked Flip’s pre-game speech. He really didn’t say anything, and that’s what he should do.
Kevin S, there is a W I D E difference between a guarantee (which I did not make, and which is always unsafe with this Piston’s squad) and a prediction (which I did make, and stand by). I called the Pistons by 6 in game 2, so I’m feeling it baby.
Is it a good idea for the home team to play the theme song from “Requiem For A Dream” during their introductions?
Anyone get the feeling that Perkins couldnt have gone to college even if he wanted to?
Ass to Ass (me, commanding the Celtics)
The Final Countdown to start the game? Bad news for the Celtics.
“Anyone get the feeling that Perkins couldnt have gone to college even if he wanted to?”
Should we nickname him “Buckeye”?
I really, really don’t think we need this game to win the series, but for some reason I’m going to be really uncomfortable until I see what Pistons team shows up.
Sheed looks angry. Good news.
LOL probably the only D-I that wouldve had him (and offered him a caddy)
CB!! Good sign.
Nice to see RA miss that. Hope he keeps it up.
I told you he looked angry! 3!
Rasheed the Dream!
Hey Marc Jackson, how is Rondo almost turning the ball over in the lane a great move by Rondo? You sir are an idiot.
You can’t leave him Rondo!!!
It’s great to see CB knock down a couple shots early.
WTF was that, a cluster play? Celtics offense just looked like a bad kid movie doing a kickoff return.
That arm flailing was a tech on Maxiell
What prison did Perkins just get out of?
Chaunce is an idiot for passing that layup
Perkins is beasting on us
Long 3!
Sheed is dialed in.
be a good game for chauncey to find his shot again. too many turnovers as a team so far.
Keep bricking and we will keep fouling… suit up Samb.
Making these 3s could come back to haunt us. We need to get our offensive sets rolling. Reliance on the three is dangerous. Ask the Magic.
Pass it Rip
Sheed get on that block!!
You’ve gotta love Rondos aggressiveness… (sarc)
ON FIRE!!!
Stop relying on the 3!
Argghhh! I have a love/ hate relationship with these 3s.
Dont fall in love with the 3! lol
Tell me, who exactly is watching this game on ESPN that doesnt understand that Sheed is a good 3-point shooter? Tell me.
I agree with you DASH but the guy has it going from outside. He is best when he mixes it up.
If Sheed keeps this up, the C-2.4 is in trouble.
Like that nickname? C-2.4? I do.
if people tells me that Sheed is going to have three threes in the first quarter I would of said they are lairs. But damn Sheed had a year to shoot that 3rd three.
He’s good but you dont want him to fall in love with it. Sometimes he hits em, sometimes he doesnt and you wish they had set him up to post.
I just hope they dont shoot too many and run out of gas.
True enough. He HAD to shoot that last one. He was alone on the court! Dice is being guarded more aggressively. No problem, opens up Sheed.
And I have to say that I LOVE Dice’s accent and demeanor in general.
Body up and foul PP
Babies!!
Rondo thought he had game, that was cute.
Love the steal there! And, uh, Rondo bad pass…
Yeah Clear Path!!
We are playing great. The in and out nonsense will stop eventually.
I like the fact that we didn’t come out down 8 or 10 or worse.
And the foul calls continues ladies and gentlemen.
Somebody block out Perkins… he’s killing us on the glass.
Finally Sheed takes perkins down low… that’s the way to take him off the boards. Nice adjustment.
Stuck!
Rodney Stuckey … cold-blooded!
Jesus, Stuckey is so damn good.
Prince did it again!
You just got Tay Tayed!!
Prince is a blocking maniac!
That’s how we close out a quarter!!!!
Prince grabs babies and slaps them away, he’d probably look a little more like Maxiell if he ate them.
Got some lucky calls in that quarter. I like the urgency so far
Perk is a Just Another Victim … of the Palace Prince.
I don’t suppose anyone knows a link for the game?
If Boston loses this series (and thats a big if), its gonna be hilarious knowing how worthless these NBA Finals spots have been.
Perk is driving me crazy. He’s getting the easiest looks.
Is a flagrant not when you foul on purpose?
Not a flagrant. Sorry. Bad call.
How is that not flagrant? No play on the ball… that’s the rule. Rules.
Flagrant foul bitches.
That was not a flagrant foul
But I will take that anyway!
Boston fans I understand
Classy Boston lol
What is CYO?
Nah, Brown absolutely made a play on the ball. Unquestionably a bad call. However, Boston can’t complain if you review the officiating from Game 4. You have to play beyond the bad calls from the refs. The Pistons managed to do it then.
YYYYYYYYYYYEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
CYO is a league without flagrants,
Whatever they say, that was dangerous.
The Old Man!!!
Great play Lindsey!
Maxi has to love Lindsey…thats twice in the last 2 games he has passed up layups to give Maxi an alley-oop.
“eliminate the pressure of Lindsey Hinter” ? what a moron game caller.
Welcome to the last game Boston fans…
The babies are not safe. Maxiell is hungry. I dunno about the chant this time. Looked like a 50/50 call to me. Looked like he got him on the arm some.
Hunter definitely has another season in him! The guy sees everything in slow mo. He is so fast. And 37?!?!
Bail-out call from Rivers crying
Melt down!!!
lol Rip slapping Paulie on the back.
Damn J-Max got 3?!!
Brilliant pass Rip.
There is so gonna be a fight in this game
Smart timeout. Get the crowd out of it.
Send Billups back in the stop that little fucker Rondo.
Damn that was nasty dunk by KG
Oh Theo
Jackson needs a new line. That, “I have an appointment with the rim” line was good the first 3 times.
Ratliff needs to put him on his ass. NO DUNKS!!!
Detroit is ON - so that pretty much means they win, cause if they’re not flat - they win. Right..
Excellent coaching by Flip! Great play by folks. I think Jeff Van Gundy has some serious depression, imho - just something about him..
Could just be me though..

Send Billups back in the stop that little fucker Rondo.
He seemed a little hesitant to attack him earlier. Wonder why?
Keep the pressure on boys. Keep it on! This game is ours for the taking if we do.
Seriously cant the Bad Boys get a lil love with these finals montages?
I like Stuck so much. He just attacks, attacks, attacks!
Careful, there gonna start giving the calls the other way now….
Hunter is such a pest! Good for him!
Rattler!!!!!
Good things are happening when Stuckey attacks the rim.
Shut up Rip….dont get a T
Stuckey is a Piston. Period. He defends, plays, and acts like one.
Somebody better get over there and help Stuckey up! Don’t leave him down on the enemy’s floor! Shameful.
So LB how do you feel about things so far? Do you like the team that has showed up so far, or are you withholding evaluation until the half? Just curious what you’re thinking.
while its pins and needles to watch the high energy close games - somehow I think the way the pistons are playing - that boston keeps the pressure on the stones, it motivates the pistons players to keep staying on top. Normally Detroit is able to slam a team with a massive run at the start (if they’re going to win a game) but it is certainly different with boston, and the stones thus far seem up to the challenge.
RA just cannot keep up with Rip. Not gonna happen.
Great offense for us… BS foul call for them.. this is frustrating
Dash Rick: This has been a weird game. It feels hard to predict. I feel like, if I had to choose one or the other, I like us to win (I’d say I’m like 60-40 on it). The Pistons haven’t done anything to discourage me from thinking they can win, but they certainly haven’t done a ton to encourage me, just a little. Boston is definitely helping us by beating themselves, but we’ll have to see how the second half shakes out. Good to know Maxiell is the only one in foul trouble Thanks for the useful reminder Mike Breen (no, seriously). Thanks for asking. You make me feel special.
P_P: You really don’t seem to have a handle on this “there”, “their”, “they’re”, thing. Doesn’t make you a bad guy or lacking insight, just frustrates me a lot.
I dont get it though, I pushed off, got almost open, and missed…why didnt you call a foul for me?
/s/
Celtics
What a shit shot by CB.
Wasted effort
LB you are special. Get used to it. The DBB community is pretty special really. And, yes, this is a bona fide feel good moment.
They hit a couple of threes, but we need to punch back before the half.
There is a lot that frustrates me about this game. The Celtics, well, they’re annoying. I hate their “intensity,” which just shows how they dont know what they’re doing.
If that BS foul on Maxi hadnt been called, we’d be up about 10 right now.
We are getting killed on the glass 24-9
This game has momentum shifts left in it. I’m not frightened by 2 threes from Allen.
Well we were a bit lucky with some of those foul calls as well…
We’ve collapsed
GO TEAM NBA!!!
BS foul on Dice
Whomever said that they hate how all the Boston players slap the ball away or block shots after the whistle…Sooo fucking annoying!
kg, lucky bastard.
sheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeed
btw … wtf is wrong with kendrick perkins
Damn….
That’s a three assholes… did he call glass?
Pistons have run out of gas, too many lapses from the vets
P_P: It’s long from becoming the Titanic, buddy.
Fucking assholes, just blowing so many dumb possessions with bonehead moves and poor shots. Way to give away the quarter.
All the old habits, all the old habits…..
If we dont make the adjustments and settle it in the 2nd half, that is the season.
Nah, we arent out of gas. Were absolutely fine. Fuck these clowns and their bs. Maxi’s been out with bs fouls, thats where the rebound problem is.
Motherfuckers refs are fuckers tonight again.
Look, we got hosed by a blown 24 second no-call and that helped Boston really swing it their way. We’re fine.
Looking at Perkin I wanna punch him in the face. Who’s with me?
LawyerBoy

P_P: It’s long from becoming the Titanic, buddy.
Yeah but the iceberg has been hit. That was a terrible lapse.
on the bright side, amir.
HB: I’d just rather point and laugh. Unless you’re calling the refs MFers for blowing tons of calls for both sides, I don’t get it. We’ve probably benefited more than we’ve suffered.
damn this is a good game to watch… if you’re a fan of anxiety.
I’m enjoying finally seeing both teams able to put down some 3 pointers. I think this is well within the Piston’s grasp. There was a hiccup at the end of the second but I’m not worried. They’ll come out fresh with some Maxiell and hopefully Dyess will knock a few down. Rip is playing very well. For all the attention Allen is getting for 2 three pointers, he probably has given up that much on letting rip and others be WIDE open..
Are they gonna play that old segment on Rip’s mask from 2 years ago?
Dude, Prophecy, there’s a big difference between showing your frustration and giving up. Why is it that game thread after game thread, you give up after a few poor plays and claim the game is over, the team is done.
If you’re wearing a Pistons jersey, take it off.
damn … i gotta go to bed
it´s 4 in the morning where i live
GO PISTONS - it´s possible if
sheed stays hot from three
rip and billups start playing like rip and billups
kendrick perkins starts playing like kendrick perkins
Oh, and a side note, I am seeing WAY too much Angry Turkey. They want to give him a nickname - give it - Angry Turkey all the way.
We have played well. We need to adjust on Perkins. MF is killing us on the boards. 28-11 in rebounds… 28 to 11?!? More Sheed on the block… more CB posting up Rondo. Way more Rip off the curls. No more shit ass guarded 3’s by CB.
If we can just even up the rebounds this game is ours. That means somebody needs to stop Just-Out-Of-Prison Perkins!!
The pizza arrived and Detroit bombed. What happened? Causality or coincidence?
“LawyerBoy” how is being 6 down beneficial? I just want to shut these damn Celtics up once an for all. They’re getting on my nerve.
I never post on game threads…but 28-11 rebounding margin? Shiiiit…
I dont think so LB, what fouls have we gotten? The breakaway, where KG fouled us to prevent the layup that was about to happen without challenge? The flagrant, where PJ went after Maxi instead of the ball?
I’m watching FOX NEWS until the game comes back on. I am so mad right now at my Pistons.
You know, with about 5 minutes to go and the Pistons up 6, I’m thinking, OK, let’s see if they can push it to double digits by the end of the half. Then just as my thought process concludes, the Celtics go on a run and finish the half up 6.
Depends Dash Rick, from where did you order?
Would you guys trade Avery off of this cast in exchange for the horrendous tbs commercials?
As for the rebounding margin, I’d like to see Amir at the center spot during bench time late in the 3rd.
My prediction is Maxiell and Stuckey will have a big game in the 3rd and 4th quarter.
And another positive, our bench always outplays Boston’s bench late in the 3rd / early in the 4th. Hopefully McDyess and Flip will energize the starters during the half, and Stuckey/Maxiell will give us a lead going into the last 8 in the 4th.
Tough calls and tough breaks to finish the half, but only down 6. Sometimes I wonder why Rip even bothers going to the basket considering the amount of contact and lack of calls he gets.
Also, there was no foul on Dice’s block! (Can’t help myself from mentioning that even though everbody already knows it.)
Avery Johnson, one day you’re the head coach of the Mavericks. The next day you’re offering commentary on how great the Celtics are. How pathetic.
Lucas: That’s two good examples.
HB: Never said “beneficial” just said the equivalent of it not being worth a bead of my sweat and that I’m not discouraged in the least bit but mildly encouraged.
P_P: I second MP, you’re plain nuts, dude. We’re down 6, not 36.
Perkins’s career high are still 24 points and 20 rebounds (ironically against us in the 3rd regular season game this season) once each on separate occasions. *twirls finger* Watch him go essentially silent in the 2nd half.
Dominoes. Won’t do that again.
Chauncey is holding us back. Stuckey and Hunter need to be in this game more. That’s it.

They need to rebound better. God damn@ us being outrebounded 28-11
I’ve said it a bunch of times: Rebounds don’t matter. They’re KILLING us on rebounds at the half and we’re down 6. They were killing us on the boards when we were winning this game too. They don’t matter. Stupid fouls and poor execution matters.
They are showing the friggin segment from 2 years ago. Damn ESPN y’all are lazy.
Rip doing a Napoleon Dynamite impression: priceless.
Man I would love to be in the locker room right now to see what McDyess would say to energizes the team because we all know he is the nucleus of the team in this series. I’m praying for a blowout in the first few minutes in the 3rd by out Piston and be in front again.
@Prophecy Projectz:
I really need you to see this, in case you missed it, because you didn’t reply:
“Dude, Prophecy, there’s a big difference between showing your frustration and giving up. Why is it that game thread after game thread, you give up after a few poor plays and claim the game is over, the team is done.
If you’re wearing a Pistons jersey, take it off.”
HB: The way he’s played in this game should he be the guy doing the verbal paintbrush?
It´s been frustrating to watch, because Detroit has had moments of brilliance but also some lapses that have prevented them from gaining a big advantage. But so far, Detroit has played a better game than Boston. Overall, I would say the things that are hurting the Pistons can be corrected with a little more care.
There were a few dumb turnovers, and a few offensive moments where they seemed a bit slow to react. I have to say Chauncey is not having too good a game, he seems tentative, except when he´s taking a very ill-advised shot! But really, they are in it. If they come out with energy in the third, the game will be good for Detroit fans. Stuckey and Maxiell are a joy to watch.
So, who all is wearing Pistons gear now? And what is it?
Blue Sheed jersey here
Just the blood in my veins, Lucas.
I hope the Pistons will come out and attack the basket. Now more perimeter shots. Just attack. And fuck what Flip has to say.
That was an interesting first half. Entertaining ball. Definitely some iffy calls, but it’s hard to get too worked up over them. This game is going to be close right up to the end. We can definitely hang in and steal one, and that’s all you can ask for.
Getting murderized on the boards, and for crying out loud somebody body up Perk. I think the getting crushed on the boards thing is due to how active we’ve been on D, we’re just one body short underneath which is also why Perk is killing us. All very correctable problems. Just gotta hang in and get this one at the end.
Again, Boobie and Perkins are professional basketball players. They will make basic plays on a regular basis. We ought to guard them as such.
“Lucas” the anger in my eyes is enough.
That lapse at the end of the 2nd drives me crazy. Sure, its nowhere near the end of the world (PP), but it sure would be nicer to be up 10 right now, which, really, you have to admit, we SHOULD be.
No team jumped out like crazy at the start, so you’ve got to believe that the third quarter will prove to be determinative.
I’d rather have KP on fire than KG.
Nice start… FUCK!!
What a fantastic start. If you’re a Boston fan…
We are getting Brian Scalabrinied by Perkins
Damn, I’m glad I was watching the wings score their goal and missed said 2nd quarter collapse, although the replay of KG’s 3 wasn’t my favorite. But it seems to be seeping into the third. Not good.
This game is just about over.
“I’d rather have KP on fire than KG.” I haven’t considered that.
Lucas: I have a full body tattoo of Fennis Dembo on my back, so when someone is standing behind me, they’re looking at Fennis.
Fantastic start to the half.
/sarcasm.
Did you hear the Deee-Troit Basket-ball mockery there at the end? Shameless! Get your own material.
…that’s not how you start a quarter.
Flip needs to get a tech on the very next bs call, if he doesnt one of the players will

I dont need to respond, its on TV……
BULLSHIT CALL
GOOD NIGHT
We need to weather this or we’re sunk.
shut down that fucking Perkin.
Too much poor defense leaving key players open
Holy shit. 13-point lead? Wha happen…?
I remember Perkins having a game like this against us in the regular season, I think it was a 20 20, but I’m watching the game and not going to look.
I’d certainly trade a firey KG for a Perkins, but right now we’re looking at both.
I lied, I did check. It was 10 points, 20 rebounds.
Don’t give up people! We are a few plays away. Just a little run away… here we come.
damn it Hamilton. Guard the 3 points line.
Not giving up. But ready to throw up. And its not the Dominoes.
Why the fuck do they keep talking about Rondo… let it go… he is not that good. Christ!
You gotta put Maxiell and Stuckey and Hunter in now
They are hitting everything right now.
Shoot the shot you have Prince… shoot the shot you have.
You traveled you dumbass.
Take it to the hole… that’s it CB. More of that. Weather the storm.
*sigh*
Every time I click over to the hockey game for even 3 seconds, it seems like their lead grows by 4. We have fallen apart in spectacular fashion.
Wow, Billups to the hole.
the Announcers can’t even call it right.
Just keep it around ten down… fucking refs.
We could really use some of Hunter’s defense even if it means a three guard set.
These touch fouls are just more Team NBA BS
Even if I wasn’t a die-hard Pistons fan, I’d want the Pistons to win just so they can stick it to the league and their hopes for a Lakers/Celtics final. Eat it, Stern.
Season.
P_P: You’re being pathetic. Stop, really.
This just isn’t the night. 10 seconds after I change it to the hockey game, the penguins score.
Wow P_P … just WOW!
PP is Eeyore.
Our starters have to pick it up. Here is that plus/minus for everyone right now (70-56)
McDyess… -12
Rip… -15
Billups… -17
Wallace… -18
Prince…-19
Stuckey… +4
Maxiell… +7
Hunter… +5
Boston has made tough shots, Garnett is sinking them at the buzzer, but if Detroit manages to close the quarter within 8, they still have a chance. The defense is good right now, so I´m not too angry. The referees are a part of this, which means their work is not without reproach.
We need more D… Hunter!!!
That Perkins block was almost as clean as McDyess’s
@Prophecy_Projectz:
Burn your Pistons uniforms, bobble-heads, posters and anything else. Get that dumb shit away from DBB, we do NOT want to hear it. You’re the worst kind of fan.
These cross-court passes or so, so bad.
Tay, Stuck, Hunter, Max, Sheed… get um in.

Worked for the Heat in the 06 finals when Riles said it *shrug*
Nice tackle Pierce.
F THAT! Thats a suspension if its one of our guys, I dont care how gay Pierce acts after the foul.
Weather it. Weather it. Start rebounding. Start attacking.
If we can weather this, they will be completely demoralized.
We are getting out hustled right now on the glass. No excuses.
D-Up mother fuckers… D UP!!!
STUCKY!!!

D-Up mother fuckers… D UP!!!
If that’s not a shirt, I don’t know what is.
Come on Stones… come on!!
If we can get it within single digits at the quarter, I’m feelin’ it. The guys need to dig down. It can be done.
There is so much time left. They did all this damage in the 3rd… we can return the favor in the forth. Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor?!! Lets go Stones!

I love this team my dude, but its the NBA and its the most predictable league with certain matchups. Im still supporting them but lets be real. We’ll win Game 6 but this series is back and forth. Game 5 was the one we had to steal to have a chance in this series.
@Tim:
There’s the spirit!!!
Flip better just be saving Lindsey for the 4th, because if not, there’s no excuse to leave him on the bench for this half. I’m Flip’s biggest fan, but I’m not really following his logic tonight. I’m hoping I just have to wait a couple more minutes to see where he’s going with this. Took him forever to get Stuckey in there.
I’m still a fan if they win or lose.
pp: when you get a paper cut do you go crying that you’ve lost blood and are going to die? kick a few back or if you’re not old enough go to canada or something and drink and relax.. season? wtf
Hell yeah it can be done… it will be done. This is where great moments happen.. this is the Playoffs!.. This is an opportunity for greatness. We’ll be telling our grandkids about this fourth quarter. Let me here this board get behind our boys!!! Come on Stones!!
That 3 by Chauncey is really good for the confidence of the team. Stuckey is amazing, how many times have we said it already? Those offensive rebounds are what´s killing us. I´m starting to wonder if the exceptional aptitude of Detroit´s players for the block isn´t countered by a general deficiency come rebounding time, because they look out of balance to me beneath the boards.
P_P: Not only is this particular game far from over, but Games 6 and (if necessary) 7 have yet to be played. Let’s wait ’til we lose 4 to say “Season.”, okay?
CB needs to step up. Right here. Right now. Game on. Do it!
Rip is pissed. Perk just broke his arm stealing the ball (no call) and you could see that foul and T coming a mile away.
Posey you are a thug. Moron.
Thank you rip, this has been ridiculous
Getting the back of his big man…?… abused??? Marc Jackson is a fucking idiot!
R.I.P. Detroit Pistons
2003-2008
So Im still a fan too Lopez. But after a few seasons and studying your opponent you just know how things end up. Look all I know is I wont be as nearly torn up as compared to the previous two seasons.
But hey if we win, the reverse jinx worked.
Unbelievable.
I have a big problem with the officiating over the last two games. They´re not missing the ticky-tack fouls. They´re missing the obvious ones, and only against Detroit. Even then, please, Detroit players, stay in this.
Somebody punt the ball
Fadel… not you to. Man have some heart you punks. I’m calling all of you guys out.
I like this. If we’re going to lose this game, this is the way to do it. Just let that chip get bigger and bigger. Play physical. Get angry.
Fadel and PP need to start a website of their own. theskyisfalling.com
Someone just needs to punt the ball, I’m telling you, thats where its at.
They are giving Rondo props again. Somebody needs to slap Rondo’s dick out of Jacksons mouth.
Things I don’t like while watching Pistons games:
1) Some random player always seems to have the biggest game of his career and that’s the difference-maker.
2) The refs.
3) Mike Abdenour shouting that unintelligible thing he does when the shot-clock is running out.
4) The refs.
Get those damn bench clowns off the court when were on this end
I take it back Rondo is the greatest player of all time.
Good hands CB.
Officiating has been so terrible and then we don’t have players playing at their best, jesus…smh.
The crowd is chanting for Eddie House? Please.
Lets give all the credit in the world to Rondo… Rondo for prez.
To be fair Rondo playing an all-star like Billups this tough is something. I dont know if that says more about us or them. I really wish Chauncey had taken advantage of that matchup tonight more.
The Spurs closed down an ugly lead last night. Sure, they lost, but it can be done. And a veteran team can do it.
But we need CB to assert himself. Or someone!
We just need to accept the a team of five Rondo’s could beat the pistons all day long. … Man,… he even inbounds sweet.
Its not over yet PP
we’re only down by 13. not too bad though. some quick points we can still win it.
Oh yeah, I forgot to add a thing I don’t like while watching Pistons games:
5) None of the highights going to a commercial are ever Pistons highlights.
6) The commentating is always anti-Piston.
(I guess that’s two tihngs)
“Tim” shut the hell up.
13 points is nothing.
Garrett

Things I don’t like while watching Pistons games:
1) Some random player always seems to have the biggest game of his career and that’s the difference-maker.
2) The refs.
3) Mike Abdenour shouting that unintelligible thing he does when the shot-clock is running out.
4) The refs.
We catch more breaks from the refs than most teams. The first half of this game exemplified that.
Other things I hate about watching Piston struggles in the Playoffs: Said random player or team never really dominates in the league the next year as much (J Will and the Heat, Boobie and the Cavs).
HB.. I’m just joking. Rondo is a piece of shit.
“Garrett” nothing new there man. Just like last year when they were calling for the Cavs to win it all.
Prophecy Projects and Fadel: Can I have your addresses so I can send you a bag of my dog’s shit with a tiny Michael Jordon jersey on it? You both need to stop typing your thoughts into this little white space that leaves comments on DBB. None of us want to hear your bullshit.
Block out Perkins, for crying out loud!!!!
How hard can it be if 20+ other teams managed to do it?

Oh yeah, I forgot to add a thing I don’t like while watching Pistons games:
5) None of the highights going to a commercial are ever Pistons highlights.
You know what Im saying? I mentioned it a couple times. Like damn can the Bad Boys get some love in those final montages?
Also what’s up with Prince playing like Rondo out there turning down wide open three’s, he needs to assert himself and just shoot the rock, if he misses he misses, but against the Celtics you best take the open shot since there won’t be but one or two on any given possession.
okay boys this is the moment of truth. the next 12 minutes are going to make or making and end of it all.
Here we go! Punch! Punch! Punch!
We are going to get back into this via defense. We need to lock these bastards down.
They didnt call that a foul on us???
Doc Rivers is clueless. The defensive transition is because of bad shots? I could’ve sworn the Tayshaun drew a foul going for a layup because Boston didn’t get back on defense. Lindsey in to start the 4th! *high-fives Flip*
At this point, if we´re going to lose, let´s do it with guns blazing. Let´s put Sheed in, let´s give free pass to Maxiell to roam. If the refs whistle more ridiculous fouls, and make some players foul out, the game won´t have been lost because of that, but I can guarantee you next game Pistons players will play with a passion we haven´t seen since 2004. And we could come back in this game. If Sheed catches fire, the Pistons´s mood will be fiery.
Come on boys… we are totally in this!
Detroit looks chippy now. That’s the stuff.
Right back at you KG
It seems like nothing is missing for the Celtics and Rasheed.
Where has this defense been all game, boys?
Rondo isn’t a scorer but he’s a good pg for a 2nd year player with all the pressure on him. The game isn’t over yet. The Cs are getting complacent. Refs are being consistent but the difference is that Pistons aren’t attacking the rim as the Cs did the last game. Perkins must’ve been got some serious b00ty yesterday!
I could not be more proud of Rip Hamilton right now.
We’re using our 2-3 zone trapping D.
Why trap now? lol why not in the 3rd?
10 point game.
we’re coming back boys. 10 down.
Wow Rip.. settle the fuck down.
8!!
Boney has a point on one thing: Rip is a walking turnover when he brings the ball up. However, most games he doesn’t bring the ball up even once.
Man, I LOVE Rip’s jump shot. So effortless and smooth.
fucking Posey!
That’s okay… keep trapping
I swear Dyess gets the worst calls ever.
Sorry McDyess, you had to eat that foul, we were getting too close.
Of course, how did I not predict an offensive foul when we finally get our momentum back.
Finally call a foul… these announcers are such homers
NO body in the Celtics has more than 3 fouls? that’s bullshit calling.
I love you Hamilton. I hate you Boston.
RIIIIIP
One of those jokes tried to give the ball to the Team NBA on that?
Still 10 down. If we can stop with the fuckups then we should win it all.
If we win this game, PP should be officially banned from DBB until next season.
Stucky has got to come and trap. I’ll take a Rondo shot over a KG shot anytime.
HB

NO body in the Celtics has more than 3 fouls? that’s bullshit calling.
I mean we had our share of favourable calls in the 1st half. Its just the breaks of the zebras.
Dark Knight>>>>> Hulk btw
Dash Rick,
I’m with you. Ban that bitch.
This is an awesome Celtics montage. *slits wrists*
sonofabitch, more Celtics highlights from ESPN.
That WHOLE montage was Celtics. The bias is just silly obvious.
Shameless ESPN… Shameless
i can’t believe the rebounding numbers. they are staggering. perkins is almost outrebounding us on his own.
And Sheed and Hamilton giving a relaity check to the Celtics! Garnett has been deadly, but I think Detroit is seriously pissed. Unless Garnett manages to shoot the ball until the end of the game, the Pistons have a very good chance. Sleeping dragon, here we come.
Where is the foul????
ESPN is so on Bostons jock..
take that foul and eat fat boy.
Dg.But: Detroit is playing like they’re pissed, which is absolutely what they need to do. Get up in there, have crazy active hands, move your feet, and take it hard to the rim.
As long as we can force a game 7 will be fine
8 min.. 10 points… come on boys
Dash Rick
May 28th, 2008 at 10:57 pm
If we win this game, PP should be officially banned from DBB until next season.
So in other words, I’ll see you on Friday?
How about that travel on PP??
Mike Breen is acting like the refs should be calling a foul every time Pierce touches the ball. “Hamilton ALL OVER Pierce!”
Rondo open = DEEETROIT BASKETBALL
Weather it. Weather it. That is our mantra.
Weather it. Weather it. Weather it.
Wow, Perkins looks gassed.
how the fuck is there no foul call on that?
KG with yet ANOTHER should-check screen. That’s about the fifth he’s thrown in the playoffs.
finally made a 2 pointer to make it an 8 points game.
Hey, rest of the Pistons, see Rip playing? This one isnt over.
“Wow, Perkins looks gassed.” that’s just what asshole looks like.
The announcers can’t hide their disappointment over the Stones cutting into this lead.
Chauncey looked so excited when the Celts called TO. You could hear him growling, “Yeahhhhhh”.
Weather it. Weather it. This can be done. Do it for PP. Do it for KP. Do it for America!
“Hey, rest of the Pistons, see Rip playing? This one isnt over.” they’re playing okay not great because they can’t make their shots.
How is that not a offensive foul on garnet??? We all see him throw that shoulder right?
Every game needs a superstar, but the NBA and ESPN tell me its Paul Pierce and Gatorade tells me its KG… I dont know which one to annoint.
still a game .. I just saying don’t get to upset if we lose this one. Boston won’t have any legs for game 7
why are keep trying to remind us that the Spurs got screwed? Like the people in Arizona cares.
TRAVEL boys!!!!!!!
get in their heads, boys…..
Yes a good call..
Wow marc jackson… wow
take that foul fat man.
Cant say the refs havent been good to us.
I hate Boston
Stuckey is throwing himself at the rim but unfortunately not getting the calls. Maybe next season, Rodney. Keep driving, though.
i’m going to need both of these, dyess.
*reality. I´m proud of the Pistons right now. They are weathering bad calls, unbelievable shots, and unsportsman-like attitudes.
SIX points game.
Stuckey can’t buy a foul when he drives. *shrugs* We’re still playing Detroit Basketball though.
Six points!
These are always interviews with Doc. Flip gets the shaft from ESPN. Makes me like Flip even more. He’s one of us.
“Boy, Hamilton playing VERY AGGRESSIVELY!”
Yes, Mike Breen! WE GET IT.
Wallace got lost. Good thing there was a call to get him gathered himself.
I Love hunter
Attack … attack … attack!!!
FLIP better not be subbing anyone until the end of this game.
Tech on Sheed? What did he do?
Keep your cool, Sheed!
No T’s… come on guys… keep it together.
TOTAL BS! Theyve been pushing us away from the ball all game long
NO SHEED NOOOOO
boston has done us a favor by pulling up and letting us get into our halfcourt defense.
i’m very surprised chauncey isn’t back in yet.
sheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeddddddddddddddd. damn you.
just
f-ing
chill.
Attack! Attack! Attack!
Bad timing.
That was an offensive foul. Period.
Like we havent seen all of the big 3 bitching all game long
Sheed got a T… get him the rock!
As a player, this is totally the type of game where you lose it do something stupid. Which is why refs need to keep the calls on the up-and-up.
Shit. hell yes
holy shit!
mister BIG SHOT hits again.
CB!!!!!!! You are the man. Keep it up!!!!!!
WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!
BBBBBBBilllllups!!!!!
Chauncey for 3!
Not fucking Rondo… anyone but him.
It was LB
Stupid, stupid, stupid.
Damn, Dyess is gone. Now they really need to pick it up. Do it for Dyess, fellas. Do it for Dyess.
fuck….McDyess is out.
Right when things are going so well we are turning the ball over! Come on!
Man, Mark Jackson is corny lol
These guys LOVE Rondo. Its really unhealthy.
Still 4 minutes left.
Tim would you rather have Perkins?
Dyess isnt a big loss right now, he hasnt had the best game
Ugh. Commercial for “The Strangers”. I’m wimpy and that looks pretty scary.
Weather it. Weather it. Weather it.
Attack. Attack. Attack.
This can be done. It must be done.
Chauncey, you were playing so well! That bad pass to Rip is a shame. Anyway, I still think we can pull this out. Our backcourt is having a defensive epiphany, and they´re doing a great job on offense.
17-10 this quarter is looking pretty nice…
The Stranger is not entertainment. Its completely repulsive.
McDyess looks like he’s picking which guy he’s going to tear into if the Pistons loses this game.
*The Strangers
Diablo - I’m not sure. It’s like choosing between which kid you love more. Diplomatic answer … I hate them both equally.
To me Boston fans liking the Dropkick Murphys is like Kazahks liking Borat.
Like, really?
“The crowd respectfully quiet for Garnett at the line.”
A crowd that chants, “Bullshit!” at regular intervals is anything but respectful.
CB did not look good getting up there.
I hate Marc Jackson the most.
we gotta get back on defense.
Good foul Prince!
“CB did not look good getting up there.” he looks alright walking back.
Still looking shaky on the offense plays to me
Wow, Hamilton must have poked himself in the eye pretty hard.
Yes Van Gundy, his mask protects his eyes.
Fucking refs should be prosecuted after this game. They didn’t we the wacking on RIP?
We looked great on D for a time there, but the O is U. As in U-G-L-Y.
Van Gundy is a moron. I guess that’s why he’s not coaching.
Even though it wasnt like Popovich was gonna get fired, but why sign an extension while your team is down 3-1 in the middle of a series? Or maybe Im looking too much into it.
These guys want the Cs to win so bad. It is puke-a-licious.
ever notice how long rip’s fingernails are? i assume that’s something he learned from reggie miller.
sheed is passing up open threes. we’re going to have to keep making them, so might as well take ‘em.
More class from Boston, playing Enter Sandman; “sleep with one eye open”
HB: I’ve been complaining about the refs all night, but that graze across the eye was probably pretty tough to notice live and in real-time. At least they got the time out though.
Van Gundy - “We have overachieved this year” - Asshole
OH man. Sucks for you Rondo.
REFS woke up ? wow what a shock.
So not smart… Nice
Those two free throws of Dice’s that he missed could come back to haunt us.
That non-call by the refs was shameful. A disgrace. Not on Ray Allen, on Perkins. This is a game, not a pack of bears mauling one another.
just knocking it down baby, knocking it down.
just to confirm: tayshaun prince is our power forward.
smart play, perkins.
technical on the FATMAN.
Haha! Chauncey just goaded that ref into calling a T on Perkins! Nice!
Perky, Perky, Perky, you n00b. God bless you.
Hey - Should of had a tech a long time ago.
BOOM, 4 points game.
Finally, a tech on Perkins! There is some justice in the world.
Tim

Van Gundy - “We have overachieved this year” - Asshole
Wasnt a diss though.
lol@ Perk
Did Van Gundy complain about Sheed’s T earlier? These guys LOVE the Celts!!!! It is so ugly.
just d up
we did not need that 3.
take the split and push the ball and get it going.
Grundy is a double-talking fucking espn tool…he says that Perkins shouldn’t get a T but Sheed should? WTF…turn off his mic and don’t tell him, please ESPN
Van Gundy has became the stupidest bald man on the planet.
How is Stuckey a rookie again?
Good play young man… good play.
Look at the Celtics squirm when the calls even out for a few minutes
Stuckey = Clutch
The Pistons are playing against the Celts, the networks, the league, and the announcers.
C’MON!!!!!!
apparently, doc rivers just noticed we were playing small.
Now who will knock down the shots for both teams down the strech?
Us: Billups, Stuckey
Them: Posey, Pierce, KG
GOD DAMN! That was some kick ass D, and Chauncey had to bump into Rondo.
TEAM NBA STRIKES AGAIN
i can’t believe they called that against chauncey. reward the f-ing effort.
MOTHER FUCKING REFS AGAIN. Why don’t they just decide who wins the game before the game ever get started already.
How can that be a foul? He dove and intercepted the ball without touching Rondo! I hate the officiating. Hate it.
Terrible call on Billups…they are both going for the ball and Chauncey hit the ball before he even touched Rondo.
The Celtics are playing not to lose. They’re super tight.
Tough call
Stuckey is AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
STUCKEY WITH THE THREE.
OMG.
Are you serious right now? Stuckey with the 3!!
STUCKEY is officially the man.
Stuckey! Stuckey! Stuckey!
As I said, Stuckey will not make an impact this season…
THE FUCKING BALLS ON THAT KID!!!!
(pardon my f-ing french)
Big shot!
Stuckey is a stud…flat out stud.
Amen HB. This is some very inconsistent calling
I may have just broken my wrist in reaction to the foul call on Chauncey, then just when Stuckey is about to hit the 3, my cat starts kneading on me.
That’s his second 3 of the post-season. WOW. Couldn’t have timed it better.
Flip is a better coach than you all think
FUCK YEAHHHH!
Rodney Stuckey! How many years has he been in the league? The guy plays with ice in his veins!
Cold blooded
Leave Rondo all day long… swarm… swarm…
Stuckey. Cold as ice.
Im still looking at Pierce.
and Rondo
and KG
Even Ray
Watch out my dudes, big shots are poppin now
Pistons must not take another 3 no matter what.
This is our moment of greatest triumph
The Celtics are scared, and they should be.
D
D
D
D
D
D
Please D!!!!!!!!
Please do not let Garnett get the ball!!!!
the announcers are now pandering. they are the worst kind.
PP what are you still doing here. I thought you gave up on the season half way through the the first quarter.
We ain’t no punks… come on.
that was a bad play by tay. rip was WIDE on the curl.
Boo last timeout.
Well He got game…
Out of time outs because they couldnt see it was a foul when Rip was blinded
The Stones can do it. Yes, they can. You´re the best in those situations. Go Pistons!
Two wasted time outs.
yeah the poke in the eye non-call looms.
Sheed doesn’t like this play at all.
Do it!!!!!!!!!!!!
Dash Rick

PP what are you still doing here. I thought you gave up on the season half way through the the first quarter.
Heres whats gonna happen: We miss this shot, Boston Rebs. Ice the game at FTs.
You happy?
Hope Im wrong
ARGH.
someone want to see to our leading scorer?
Man Stucky is a robot…
Shake it off Rip c’mon man.
Im suprised Boston fouled at all. Knowing our best shooter was down on the court
Stuckey is Chauncey v2.0.
Maybe you’re right. But admit you NEVER thought it would be this close. You sold us out two quarters ago.
Ice in veins- Rodney
this is set-up perfectly. i’ve had to watch bird stealing that ball for the past 20+ years. i demand redemption!
Pistons, you are amazing. Epic.
Dash Rick
May 28th, 2008 at 11:38 pm
Maybe you’re right. But admit you NEVER thought it would be this close. You sold us out two quarters ago.
Sold us out? What is this? A WCW storyline
Can we make a 3?
The NBA is fantasti… foul to prevent the three. LAME!!
I forgive you Stuck.
No shit, I agree with everyone who is against Prophecy-Projectz here. Go away. As I said earlier, you’re the worst kind of fan…
Damn…
We will game 6
Boo-urns.
@prophecy:
“We will game 6″
What happened to “season”, you prick?
Great, great game.
We OWN game 6. Bank on it. Right now!
Boo-urns… love it!
Thats ok. I can live when we play hard. Perkins killed us.
That was some exciting stuff. Like I said before, the Celtics were playing not-to-lose, and that’s never a good thing.
Damn.
3-2… Tough loss… Now lets forget all about it. Pistons in seven. Nobody said it would be easy.
Are they going to show a champaign in the locker room scene… wow ESPN…wow.
This series has to go to 7 games, it can not end in Detroit. I’m expecting a fired up Pistons team, lets take it to them.
I’ll put it this way. This isn’t the type of game that makes me roll over. Let’s bring game 7.
F’ed the Celtics.
F’ed Perkins.
Most important of all. F’ed the REFS. They are the decider of all of the games in fouls to keep the Celtics in it.
This game hurts. Because it was handed to Boston. But the Stones will come back stronger. Next game, Dyess and Stuckey and Prince will have huge impacts.
I´m pissed. Detroit deserved it. Many fuck-you to many people.
Truly, the Celts ESCAPED. Blow out in game 6. BLOW OUT BABY!
If you are going to be at the game, you’d better NOT have a voice the next day. No silences. No quiet. No library. No excuses.
See you all online on Sunday for game 7.
The Celtics is going to lose by at least 20 on Friday. Count on it.
To all Detroit players: thanks, and kudos. There were mistakes, but that was one heck of a comeback. One heck of an effort. One heck of a team.
“See you all online on Sunday for game 7.”
I will be here baby. I can’t wait to see the Pistons celebrate on their court to see them bitches cries.
I wish we could all get in a room and watch these games together. That would be awesome, except for maybe Prophecy.
Stern’s Lakers/Celtics final is one game closer to being a reality.
are u guys dumb? rip is obviously hurt severely and wont play for the rest of the playoffs. the season is over. are you forgetting that rip chances are wont be available for the rest of the playoffs. how dare you guys say everything is peachy and we are going to take it to 7. billups was -13 and stuckey was +15… nuff said. mr big suck
Mike Payne

@prophecy:
“We will game 6″
What happened to “season”, you prick?
I said we would win Game 6 but we needed to steal Game 5, cause its hard to beat these guys in a game 7. I have the right to express myself. Dont get mad at me or any fan who thinks differently. Am I helping Kendrick Perkins body us early and making KG hit those long shots? No. You dont like it dont read it, but make no mistake I love this team but Ive also come to expect heartbreak too. If we win, we win but you can tell how things pan out. A furious comeback is one thing but you gotta make sure you dont get in the hole.
We’ve seen this before, there down, make a comeback, only to fall short cause the other team did just enough. It was the story of the 06-07. It still a hell of a game, and I want us to win but Im not gonna be in dreamland even if dreams come true.
Dont worry about me, worry about how we stop Perkins and them and end crowning another Eastern conference darling for the 3rd straight year.
Good night all. It is nearly midnight now. I’m not going to even bother watching the presser. Too depressing. But I have an appointment on Friday in front of my television. That short bald man(Van Grundy) better not be one of the three announcers again. I start watching when the game begin not the pre-game show.
That would be something. The whole DBB crew in the same room! And I’m not talking about a chat room, baby! Madness, pure madness!
well that was great basketball - f’in angry turkey - whoever said “don’t you just want to punch him?” yes - he is the annoying fat kid who’s never had an original thought who doesn’t shut up.
Stones in 7. This game got so close - I expect the stones to come back to Boston in game 7 with the same energy and without a lull in the 2nd-3rd quarters.
is rip okay? I told my girlfriend he was probably faking it because he cost them a time out (accidentally) and wanted to buy the team time to group a bit..I’ll admit, hes kind of a dirty player - but not bruce bowen dirty, of course.
Man the game that really stings now is game 3. We just spotted them one with that game.
“Stern’s Lakers/Celtics final is one game closer to being a reality.” Stern got his wish last year. Maybe it will happen again. Man that guy can really fixes the NBA when it comes to who plays in the FINALS. Last year was a rating blunder. Wanna bet ABC talked to him about it at the end of it?
HB

F’ed the Celtics.
F’ed Perkins.
Most important of all. F’ed the REFS. They are the decider of all of the games in fouls to keep the Celtics in it.
I would agree with you about the refs, but we did get some calls as well.
So impressed with Stuckey! Yes, it has been a LONG time since I’ve witnessed a monster comeback on detroit’s part. That seemed like they reached back to the Larry Brown era and did so successfully. The effort was valiant enough that I only feel minor pangs of disappointment at their loss. Sheed better not get another T….
Pistons by 20 on Friday. 12 at least, but 20 is a real possibility.
We need the Stones to have a C-H-I-P on their shoulder. They need to leave it all on the floor. And they will! Mark it down.
I called it in 6. Its going 7. Fine. We can still win this series.
“piñon lopez” you can bet that our man Sheed will get a T if the Pistons find themselves under 15 or more in the last 2 minutes just so he doesn’t have to serve it in either game 6 or 7. Just like last year.
Unbelievable. Although, I don’t have the energy to post on the blog, I have to commend most of the Piston fans cause the true among us never counted them out. Even with all the bullshit calls, flagrant fouls not be given we gave them a hard time. We will take this shit in 7. Lets batter these cry babies.
pinon lopez: You’d better leave the knife in the drawer just in case Sheed gets a T…..
The series is definitely going 7 because ain’t no way the Piston is going to come out all relaxed like in game 3 and dropped the ball like that. McDyess better be come out on the court with a vengeance and Maxiell better step up. It is time to shuts them bitches up once and for all that they’ll feel it in game 7.
I just thought I should tell you all that I crossed out the WALLACE on the back of my #3 jersey and wrote in MF STUCKEY.
I’m way more annoyed than I am nervous. Just because I can’t touch it doesn’t mean it’s not there. Just because there aren’t box scores for Games 6 and 7 of this series that have more points for the Pistons than the Celtics doesn’t mean they aren’t coming. This is not a team that is going to lay down and die. Maybe previous Pistons squads would lay down and die, but not this one. People may think the Celtics want it more and they may actually be right. The Pistons are just that much better though and they certainly care enough. My friends and I always say that The Pistons need to have storyline drama in their playoff runs in order to make the championship DVD interesting to the general public. Welcome to the drama.
Flattery. Flattery. Flattery.
The Celtics are such Golden Boys. The post-game show isn’t as bad as the commenting during the game, but its still bad.
These guys HATE the Pistons (except Barry, of course).
Pistons in 7!
Pistons in 7!
Maybe not, but it IS going to 7. NOT in OUR HOUSE. NOT TODAY. NOT TOMORROW. NOT FRIDAY. NOT EVER.
I’m just fired up right now. Fired up.
Go Pistons!
Go Flip!
Go crazy!
I love seeing how proud everyone is of this team even after a loss. Gutsy performance by our team, and everyone knows the Pistons would’ve won if it had been called the same way on both ends of the court.
Can’t wait for Game 6!
This team pisses me the fuck off. When they loaf during the regular season, I could rationalize it as them saving it for the playoffs. But what the hell do you say when they loaf in the playoffs? Why does this team think that they can just not show up during key playoff games? If the real Pistons had shown up this series would have been over in 5. I just can’t take anymore of this shit.
@Prophecy_Projects:
I hold my composure quite well on DBB. I consider myself a rational, friendly guy with a relaxed temper. I’ve been disagreed with often here, on comments and guest posts. Those disagreements make us as a community stronger. I grow alongside the likes of the many commentors here on DBB. But I cannot, by any means, tolerate ignorant, pessimistic, Titanic-type fans that sell the team I love short after a few bad plays.
I’ve watched you do it all season long. Don’t believe me? Every comment you’ve typed here is on record, and I could go back and call out your negative bullshit from early in the season. If the Pistons lose three, you cry that the sky is falling. When they win two, they’re your best friends.
You’re a fair weather fan, PP. And when I saw you claim that the Pistons season was over tonight before the second half when the series was tied? I lost it.
My advice to you– keep your ignorant bullshit to yourself. Only comment when you have something to add to the community. In my opinion, and the opinions of many other Pistons fans who addressed you above, you’re the WORST kind of fan.
Do us ALL a favor, and keep your defeatist, Hindenburg-explosion bullshit to yourself.
“I just can’t take anymore of this shit.”
Relax, it wasn’t a big loss. Our boys fought hard and you gotta respect that. They didn’t dropped the ball like in game 3. I have to say this was a win in out heart. Doesn’t matter that those shitheads announcers thinks or say. The Pistons are winners in my mind for game 5. Enough said.
@HB:
+1
Sincerely, it´s one of those games where you´re honoured to be a part of the Pistons´s tribe. It´s a game we´ll always remember with passion. The Pistons know it, and next game, they´re gonna be merciless from start to finish, especially for Dyess. Stern-jerk, you don´t know what ruthless means. The Stones are here to play basketball as the game should be played, and they´ll win at it.
It’s good to see KG and Peirce joking around after this game. I’m hoping we knock them silly in games 6 and 7.
thanks Mike
I’m off for the night. It’s getting late.
HB: Right on.
Also, the Celtics do deserve some credit. They hit some tough shots against some decent Piston’s D in the third. It isn’t their fault that everyone is falling all over themselves to say great things about them or that the refs swung the game in their favor (as irritating as it is).
The only thing that is remotely frustrating is that were terrible for about 14 minutes from the end of the 2nd through the entire 3rd. Last year’s team would have imploded, done stupid shit, and lost this game by 30. I have a hard time getting all worked up because we clawed and fought and got back in this thing. They left it all on the floor, and that’s all I can ask for as a fan.
We got back in it largely with Stuckey in the game. He was something ridiculous like +16 for the night. He’s maturing big time and it’s an absolute joy to watch. Anybody who questions whether or not he’s going to be a big time player in this league is crazy. I think that’s a MUCH bigger story line than us losing Game 5 in Boston.
Even Doc Rivers, I wish game 6 was tommarrow….I’m not going to get sleep tonight I know it.
We were SO CLOSE to this:
*dramatic music*
Narrator: And when the Pistons needed offense the most, it came from an unlikely suspect.
*blurry, slow-motion footage of Stuckey stepping onto the court and tucking in his jersey, quickly snapping into focus*
Narrator: Enter the rookie, Rodney Stuckey, from unheralded Eastern Washington University, to carry a team of veterans on his back.
*more dramatic music and footage of Stuckey driving, dishing, playing tough D, and draining that big 3 from the corner*
Despite a tremendous effort to make this a ballgame, when Detroit could have easily said “OK fellas, we’re down 17, let’s forget about this one and start thinking about game 6,” here is why I’m a little concerned moving forward:
Offensively, Hamilton was on fire, Billups played probably his best game of the series, Wallace was lighting it up from downtown, and Stuckey was making some huge shots and free throws in the 4th quarter. (I know he missed one that he was supposed to make, and made the other that he was trying to miss, but that’s such a fluke play. you can’t fault him for that.)
Defensively, Detroit forced a bunch of key turnovers and really cranked it up down the stretch making if very difficult for Boston to execute their offense. Free throw shooting could have been better but Hamilton and Billups, the primary ball handlers were excellent, and the bench outscored the Boston bench yet again. All this exceptional play yet still Detroit lost the game.
I’m confident that Detroit will win game 6, it will be a cold day in hell to see this team lose a series on its home floor. (Interestingly, the last team to do it was the Celtics in 2002.)
Basically, to play this well when they were down 17 and to fight all the way back to the point where if you get one last stop you have possession of the ball down 1, only to not get that stop and lose, when a win effectively crushes the morale of the Celtics. Can they muster up the energy to go and do it again Friday night, and then again Sunday night?
I know they did it to Miami in 2005, but the situation was slightly different. Wade was held out of that game 6 and the Pistons absolutely destroyed the Heat without him, (I believe it was somewhere near a 30 point victory?) They managed to steal game 7 on the road, which was impressive but these Celtics will not be as easy to dispatch as that Heat club was. It’s going to take the best two game stretch of the season to do it.
This was an honorable loss, yes. They could’ve mailed this in and just waited for the Palace. But no, they fought. And fought. And fought. It was beautiful. And yes, I am waxing eloquent. I am proud of this club. Stuckey was amazing. You can tell he is in it to win it. I’m proud of Lindsey too, tremendously so. The whole squad really. And the coach. And yes I said it.
An honorable defeat is better than a meaningless win handed to you by the men in white and black. Take that to the presses.
Its not just if you win, but how you win. And when the Pistons play like this you can hold your head high, real high. If they played like this every game they would be UNSTOPPABLE over the long haul. What drives the faithful crazy is that they don’t ALWAYS play like they are CAPABLE of.
But tonight you can be proud. Real proud.
And we’ll be even prouder come Friday.
Piston’s pride.
“The Pistons are winners in my mind for game 5″ Too bad that don’t count worth a shit. They’ve been doing the same thing for years and this series has pushed me over the line. I like that this team relishes playing under pressure. I don’t like when they mail it in just to create the pressure. It’s the fucking playoffs for Christ sake. There should already be enough pressure. But just winning this series isn’t enough for this team. They need to win in game 7 on the road to prove themselves. What a joke. I’ll be rooting as hard as anybody else during games 6 and 7, just don’t expect this season to end with any less heartbreak than the previous 3.

Cliff: You should have a Jello Pudding Pop. It’ll help you relax.
Jeff Van Gundy must be the stupidest human in the world. I watched on DVR and just finished, but for fuck’s sake, PJ was *nowhere near* contesting Max’s shot and just went to hit a guy in the air. The later calls involved Pistons players actively challenging shots in situations where a block was plausible. PJ hit Max in the armpit, a whole fucking foot or more below where the ball was. That was not going for the ball at all, hence not a “basketball play” and the hit while Max was airborne was “excessive,” making a flagrant foul the proper call.
Breen so had it correct, but he was too hesitant to lay it out.
Some thoughts on the game:
I wish Rasheed could take keeping the Angry Turkey off the glass as personally as he does stopping Tim Duncan or KG. There is no way that the Turkey could go off for 13 rebounds in one half if Sheed said to himself “I’m not letting this happen.”
I also wish we gamed Rondo more on defense. I think we need whoever is guarding RR to be a free safety (near as I can tell, Lindsey is the only guy who consistently does it). You just have to concede that 18 footer from him. Yeah he’ll hit three in a row sometimes. But over the long haul, shutting everyone else down is the way to go.
Stuckey was extraordinary and I love him. But I do have one quibble - on the Posey three, he totally blew the rotation (he cheated toward Rondo). Hunter let him have it after the play.
Hated both the Chauncey loose ball fouls on d late in the game. Ridiculous.
Hmmmm, not the news I wanted to read but from the tone of posts so far; a valiant comeback that fell short. This series is very much alive and still close enough to grasp. Go Stones!
F’n rebounding, f’n announcers. Gotta give Perkins some credit, but I still hate him. Gotta give the Pistons a lot of credit for fighting back. I can still see us winning this series, just gotta fix the rebounding. I can also see us losing in 7. I really, really, really don’t want to lose in 6, and given the heart shown tonight, I don’t think we will.
What happened to Tayshaun in this series? He needs to score more in order for the Pistons to win.
I hate it when Rip forces his passes. He needs to slow down when he is outnumbered during the fast break. He forced at least 4 passes during the fastbreaks and they were all stolen. I hope Rip’s elbow is okay. We need him.
I think we will win Game 6 and it will be tough to win Game 7. Hopefully Boston will be fatigued after playing the max number of playoff games in each series.
GO PISTONS! I really hope they can win this series.
hmmm… positives:
Excellent comeback by the Pistons in the 2nd half, lead by Rodney Stuckey and Chauncey Billups.
Excellent defense on the perimeter by the guards.
Excellent ball movement in the 1st quarter and the 4th quarter.
NEGATIVES:
Fouls at poor times.
Sheed tech, even though it was questionable he should’ve gotten it.
Richard Hamilton getting gauged in the eye, and then the injury to his arm. Not good.
Stuckey with a couple of poor decisions with 4 minutes to go
Mike Breen making me think Lindsey Hunter hit that 3 in the corner. I didn’t believe it was Stuckey.
Billups, flopping.
Incosistent calls on both ends.
Flip should’ve substituted Amir Johnson, just so he could’ve laid out James Posey.
All in all nice finish by the boys. Nice start, and nice finish. It’s like the halftime speeches haven’t worked at all this series as they’ve had poor 3rd quarters. Perhaps Flip should just put in inspirational DVDs at halftime, maybe like Rudy or the end of Independence Day… I dunno.
MVPs of the game:
Rodney Stuckey
Billups
Hamilton
Lindsey Hunter
LVPs of the game:
2nd half Sheed
McDyess (total nonfactor)
Sorry Dyess… I prepped you up, and now I have to put you back down.
ridiculous comeback. that’s momentum to take into game 6. i’m not worried about this team for some reason, even staring at an elimination game. they seem more functional this year than last year. or the year before. it just seems like something’s working this season and we’re just playing a really good team that too good to beat on a nightly basis. we got to come home and build off that 4th.
i think at the beginning of the year i thought this would be our last season with this team intact. i think even if we lose next game or in 7, we won’t see much of a roster change. and before i thought finals or bust for flip. he’s probably earned another year in joe d’s eyes, despite what the flip haters (myself included) think.
whatever, tons of time to discuss the future. the here and now doesn’t feel as bleak as down 3-2 should. we can win this series.
and ya’ll should lay off p_p a bit. he’s just a glass half-empty guy. he’s still a pistons fan even if not up to your standards. he’s enough of a fan to come to this site on a pretty regular basis. no time to bitch at each other when chowderheads a-plenty will descend on the dbb to see if we’re wallowing in fear and misery.
I’m still a little mad there was no Flagrant on Peirce when he clothslined Chauncey when going to hoop. The officiating was very questionable the whole game, terrible.
And even Rasheed has spoke out about the officiating tonight, I really hope something gets changed quickly.
In a game between these two squads, a huge part of what is making the difference is the number of possessions each team has. By the way, it means a tell-tale sign of how things are going for Detroit is to count: BOS TO-BOS OFF R. Significant difference, smooth sailing for Detroit. Slight advantage, or worse, Boston is in the lead.
But yes, who has the ball the most is incredibly important between these defensive-minded, offensively-efficient teams. When the refs give the ball to the wrong team in an out-of-bounds play, when they call ridiculous loose ball fouls, when they refuse to call a foul on a play where a player is injured, when they refuse to give technicals on plays where deplorable behaviour is observed, they are tipping the balance in a huge way, even if it´s not how that usually happens.
Think about it. Timeouts burned before the end of the game; ball still in possession of Boston instead of Detroit as it would be if a technical was called… These make a very big difference when both teams have essentially neutralized each other.
Some wonder what there is to love in this Detroit squad. Let them watch that game. Great basketball. Detroit Basketball.
That shit was felonious. Fel. Oh. Nee. Us.
the comment count is out of control.
lawyerboy, any chance u guys are meeting for the pistons game on friday….lemme know.
@JD:

I appreciate you sticking up for our own, shows that you’re one hell of an admirable guy. Kudos to you for speaking up in P_P’s defense.
However, I’ve been really bugged at DBB this season. When the Pistons are down, when they lose a few games a row in the regular season, the “sky is falling” fans come out in force. I looked back recently, to see who was a big culprit. P_P is, in my opinion, the leader of the Pistons hating pack.
As a die hard, wake-up-in-the-middle-of-the-night-in-a-sweat Pistons fan, with nothing but love, support and optimism for my team, nothing pains me more than a so-called Pistons fan calling our season over from a few bad plays when the series is tied 2-2.
If you look back, whenever the Pistons lose a big game, the haters come out. I don’t comment, because I leave. I can’t stand their nonsense, it keeps me away from DBB.
P_P is a good guy– he loves this team and is a great asset to the DBB community, but only when we’re up. When we’re down, he’s a fairweather fan who is the first to sell us out. He did so tonight with his “season” comment. I do NOT respect that in the least, and it makes me lose hope in this community.
P_P has an important place here, but he needs to respect the other members of this community and keep his mouth shut on his titanic-crash opinions. Share when you have something important to say…
I may not be a top ten commentor here, but I guarantee you I’m in the top 15- and I’ve been here since the early days, before most. I love DBB, I love what Matt has built here, I love this community, and I LOVE the Pistons. But I will never tolerate people saying stupid things here, and I will hold P_P and anyone else here to task when they say ill-advised, ignorant, defeatest shit about the team that I love.
Pistons in 7. P_P can spend the rest of his days at Blogabull, for all I care.
Arright, maybe after reading my own post, I am being a little hard on the guy. I just have a real hard time dealing with pessimism, especially when its aimed at something I love– like DetroitBasketball.
Sorry, Prophecy. Maybe I adopted you as a target for my Pistons frustration tonight.
the only thing i look forward to in this series is the spurs/hornets series……spurs still won the series in game 7. i would love to see a blow out game at the palace early in the game so our starters can rest throughout 4th quarter!
@ric:
Man, I was actually looking forward to a Hornets/Lakers series. Thanks to the Spurs, I can’t watch any west coast series! Not like last year, I’ve still got the Golden State / Dallas series on my external HD. That was exciting basketball. Not Pistons ball, but still exciting to watch in spite.
Detroit blew it in the 3rd quarter. Both teams are tough on defense. You let a game get handy one way or the other, and neither team has enough firepower to overcome it.
mp, i know you’re a vet, my man. but everybody approaches fandom differently. it couldn’t have been more apparent to me than hanging for the last couple games with lawyerboy. dude’s blind optimism is in stark contrast to my hair-trigger negativity. but i wouldn’t say he’s a bigger fan than me or vice versa. just different. that’s all i’m pointing out.
@JD: man, I’d love to catch a game with JD, QD and LB. Maybe next season!
LB’s blind optimism kind of reminds me of my own, maybe.
I agree with you. While the subject of my disaffection doesn’t make for easy DBB reading. It keeps me away, if anything…
Here’s to catching a game with you LA fellas at some point!
so mike, no meeting for LA fellas to watch game 6?
by the way mike….how annoying are the lakers flags on people’s vehicles……its so freaking annoying…so many bandwagon…were where those flags when lakers got knocked out in the first round last year!
All those “Pistons in 6″ predictions aren’t looking too great right now. Neither are the “Perkins sucks” opinions. I’m not surprised that there was a lot of bitching about the refs in here tonight, but from what I saw at the game, Detroit got a bunch of favorable calls in the first half, and was allowed to foul pretty much every single possession in the fourth quarter, where they held the Cs to only two buckets in the last nine minutes during their valiant but unsuccessful comeback attempt. Rip was practically laying on top of Pierce as he tried to establish mid-post position almost every possession, and Wallace was allowed to mug Garnett on a few possessions without a call. One of the refs. Mike Callahan, was about 90%-10% in making calls in the Pistons’ favor.
I find it ironic that Rip actually injured himself while trying to choke Ray Allen. Rip is the most unsportsmanlike NBA player since Reggie Miller. He cheats on almost every single possession, especially on offense. He managed to get through the entire first half of clutching, pulling, flopping and grabbing without being whistled for a foul, but got whistled for three in the pivotal third quarter, when the Cs built the lead that they never relinquished.
If the Cs manage to eliminate the Pistons, and I expect them to, I’m going to be particularly happy to see Hamilton lose. I really don’t know how anyone who is a true basketball fan can root for such a conniving little bitch of a player.
Perkins sucks, TripleOT. Go find some other porch, jagoff.
tripleOT u probably forgot to take ur meds or over took it.
as a pistons fan, i know how pistons could be so dangerous…i strongly recommend the celtics to close this out in game 6…..pistons is so savvy in playing in game 7, especially on the road!!!
ok, i want everybody, espn, charles barkley, stephen smith, boston herald, to declare this series is over!!!! we like it like that! besides, if that happens, pistons have nothing to worry/argue about, but if they still win, i would love to shove it to everybodys face.
Hey TripleOT,
Your opinion is totally welcome here. We love smart, engaging insight about our team and those that we face. You’re a credit to your team.
Sarcasm aside, are you serious? Take a hike, dude. Leave the shit talking until the series is over. You’ve been a troll since before the season started, and we didn’t appreciate it then either.
Just want to see this hit 600 comments.
Lets prop up the usage of Angry Turkey - maybe it will make a splash on thebasketballjones or other areas - its a great nickname for him!
I want news on rip’s elbow - either he faked it (doubt) or theres some serious shiz with it..
what the hell, I’ll be 600..
I thought the officiating was a bit f’ed up, but a lot of calls in the 1st half seemed to go detroit’s way..
This series has surprised me on many levels. No matter who wins, it’s been a great one, and if it goes seven like I expect it to, it’s going to be a classic. I was really surprised to see Boston’s Big Three play like money players, Pierce was too busy jersey popping during the regular season, and Garnett and Allen, what have they ever won? But those guys have mostly played well here, better than I expected, and that gives them a little edge.
On our side, Stuck has been a revelation, I mean, he has been money pretty much the whole series and certainly is going to be an impact player if his outside game develops. Lindsey has played great where I wasn’t really expecting him to. And let’s give Flip some credit, he’s coached very well, certainly light years better than Doc.
I like our chances in the last two games. Let me fast forward a bit-if the Celts play in Game 7 like they did in Game 7 against the Cavs, they’re toast (which reminds me, this is where I miss Big Ben, he shut down KG during the series).
Comment 601, eh? Matt, give yourself a hand for developing DBB for what it is today.
Wow, you guys rock — I don’t know what the previous comment record was, but you guys destroyed it. I just checked — there’s something like 16,000 words written here. That’s nuts.
